My HA1C is down to 6.1 and my doc is pleased, at last. He is not so pleased about my blood pressure at 160/78, however. It was 120/70 a while ago so yesterday's reading may have been stress. (We got confirmation that my DH does have skin cancer.)
He also gave dire warnings about too much meat and fat for me because of a family history of colon cancer.
Anyhow the 1500 mg of Metformin IS working and I'm going to stick to low carb but try to lower the fat and red meat. Knocking off a few more punds will help too, of course!
Just thought I'd check in. This site is my lifeline!

That number is great. Non-diabetic ranges are 4.4 to 6.4, so you are not having diabetic high numbers anymore. Believe me, a doctor who is a friend of mine says you don't see much of that, even on medication.
Here's a chart for HBA1c to equivalent Blood Glucose readings.

I believe mine was also 6.1 the last time I had one done. From what I have been told, people with < 7.0 consistently, have very few diabetic complications compared to a lot of the numbers increase.
Did you have one done at first? Mine was 13.3 two and a half years ago.
Good luck,

Thanks for the chart. I had a reading of just at 7 the first time I was tested so I think I'm on top of the problem before it gets out of hand. My doctor is waging a major "shock and awe" crusade against this disease and will be even more delighted when I get below 6! Now I need to get the BP under control.
Thanks again.
