Hi: Can someone please advice me. I caught a nasty cold from a co-worker. I have been having a terrible sore throat for the past two days. I stayed away from sucking on the Halls drops like I used to do because of the nasty sugar and corn syrup. But I am slowly weakening.
Is there another kind of Cough Drop I can use? I live in Vancouver.
I have been drinking some salted water...(suppose to be an old family remedy but it just makes me want to throw up as soon as I drink it)
Thanks ;)

I didn't think you were supposed to drink the water...I thought you were supposed to just gargle with salt water for a sore throat.

When I was recently in Florida... (first two weeks of June)...I had a bout of sore throat and was able to get some sugar free cough lozenges... not sure but think they were Hall's... you might check your local pharmacy to see if they have started getting them here in Canada...

Yikes!
No NO NO! No drinking salt water....it's bad for you.
Gargle with warm salt water for a sore throat, then spit it out.

I have purchased sugar-free Halls from my local Shoppers Drug Mart. They are available in Canada.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the advice. :D I will try to learn to gargle without gagging with the salt water and will look for those cough drops at Shoppers.
Have a Nice Canada Day Weekend!! and remeber to use your sunblock.

Thanks so much for the info Sylvie... glad to hear that I can now prepare for the next bout of sore throat.. they really help curb the urge to cough...

There are also sugar free Strepsils throat lozenges in honey lemon flavour. They're pretty good, they have them at most drug stores / pharmacy departments of Zellers etc.
