Hey! I just started low-carbing yesterday! I got tired of being fat, fat, fat, and of hearing girls half my size complain of having to loose weight. I'm also tired of being almost 21 years old and unable to walk up two flights of stairs without taking a break after the first one. I'm tired of having to wear gigantic tents of clothing, etc, etc, etc.
I'm a college student in Oklahoma. I'm studying journalism right now, and we'll just see where that leads. My parents have been fat and dieting all my life, and I have too. I hope this Atkins thing works.

Hi Lizzy,
Welcome. This WOL will work for you if you give it time. Induction is probably the hardest part - but once you get thru carb withdrawl you'll feel so much better.
If I can offer you any support, drop by my journal.

I'm 50, and if I had had this diet when I was your age, I am sure my life would have been greatly different. I hope you take advantage of this, and don't screw your life up like I did.

I was looking at the food in and ontop of my fridge, and created something that I really enjoy
1 can hormel ham (0 carb)
extra sharp chedder to taste (trace)
Olives to taste (acording to the nut information, 0 carb)
a little bit of heavy whipping cream
chunk up the ham and the cheese, slice the olives, put in a bowl, add the cream, stir with a fork, and of course... add more cheese
it's a little salty, but SO good, and I bet it would be even better with the hormel turkey or chicken
life without a kitchen leads you to strange food choices....but this was good... and I will not be in the dorm forever, I will not be in the dorm forever...

Hi Lizzie,
You could be me...........I've been heavy all my life too..did diet after diet after diet...tried to do it to get a man.get a job....please my parents.........nothing worked until I found LC........and it works. I know living in the dorm will make it kind of hard but once you catch onto what are good choices and what arent you'll be able to eat anywhere and still stick to the plan. You know you can do it. If a total carb addict can stick to it like I can then you're gonna be just fine. Induction is kind of tough but you cannot believe how good your going to feel. I used to sweat going up the stairs at my house when I started....now they are no effort and I have all the energy in the world. And I've only been doing it since Jan 1st. Its not like other diets where you starve and then lose one pound a month. Let me know how it goes. I'll see if I can come up with any dorm friendly eating for you.
