I have googled and yahoo'd till i can't see straight, and it
seems all the websites i find related to weight training
focus on a product, then look at training to maximize that
product, is there a place that focuses on TRAINING, i don't
mind ads for products, but would prefer the theme of the site
NOT be a product.

Specifically what i am looking for is something like a chart,
outlining the different muscles and their groups, routines to
work those muscle/ groups, stretching excercizes, diagrams of
different lifts (no replacement for a trainer, but would be
nice to have a clue before i meet with trainer so i can
maximize my time per dollar.) Anyone have any ideas where to
go, or books that would be worth my investment?

1. http://www.exrx.net/Exercise.html all you asked for and
more
2. To maximize your dollar, don't spend it on a trainer, just
work on your form, the above site will teach you the form.
3. What are your goals?

That's ok, we allow a few on topic posts every now and then.
Not too many though, or the moderator will get cranky.

Finally got down to 600 calories per day and the weight gain
slowed but still continued.-Katra

The point is, it was carb calories..-Katra

Guess the 3000 protein and fat calories didn't count.

It's okay, but next time you should prefix the subject
with "OT:".

www.stumptuous.com/weights.html for how to put together a
routine. No products, just info.

www.exrx.net/lists/directory.html for what movements work
what muscles, complete with animated gifs. Products
several directories above this one, mostly quite good
books and videos.

Besides ExRx.net, I also find these useful:

http://www.abcbodybuilding.com
http://www.deepsquatter.com/strength
http://www.theministryoffitness.com (uk.rec.bodybuilding
homepage) http://www.hardtrainer.com http://www.drsquat.com
http://www.thinkmuscle.com (Nice HST articles by Bryan
Haycock.) http://www.wannabebig.com

Otherwise, just google this group for past posts. That's the
cut that made it to my bookmark list.

Fantastic web site, not to frilly and has a lot i was looking
for. Well actually i'm not paying for the trainer, its kind of
a once a month freebie and i want to maximize MY time out of
that hour, knowing that some of it is going to be spent
politely declining purchising more training... My primary goal
is to get rid of my collegiate boyancy, off to a good start
already, down from 233 to 223#, goal is to get my weight down
in the 190's but more important than that is BF%, if i'm not
down to 190, but my BF is down i'd be just fine with that. I
am primarilly getting in shape for law enforcement service,
planning on being a local yokle while working on my masters,
then federal cop after that, but need to meet the physical
requirements, and one of those is BF, add on a mile and a half
run(2miles federal), pushups, situps, some other stuff, and i
want to beat the minimums by at least 50% (to make the acadamy
a little less unpleasant). So i am not looking for a strength
only or endurance only training, but more a combination of
both, cus a cop thats strong as an ox, but can't chase a
badguy is useless, as is a cop that can chase a badguy, but
can't throw his sorry ass onthe ground and hold him down. I
posted a typical workout in an earlier post "Clothing/workout
recomendations..." and have been told i need to add in some
freeweights and more upper body, plan on starting that this
week, but have no earthly idea how to use freeweights,
machines are idiot proof, and anything more than a bench press
on free weights and i'm lost. Kind of why i was looking for a
decent site to begin with.
