Hi
Cant believe how many of you are on here now. Quite a following ... long may we rule. Havent been around for a while, what a difference to the 3 or 4 of us antipodeans that were here when this forum was set up.
Anyway, has anyone come across low carb maple syrup or high quality sugar free dark chocolate (not garden variety baking chocolate)?? If anyone knows I'd be grateful.
Thanks
Nicola

I'd love to hear about LC maple syrup too, the yanks have (I think it is called) Da Vinchi syrups in heaps of flavors, but I have never seen them here.
For dark chocolate check out Lindt 70% Cocoa chocolate, from memory it is 12.8g carb per serving (4 squares, but one square is heaven!), but I cant remember how much a serving weighs. You can get it in the choc section anyway - it is delicious!! I think around $3 per smallish block.
Good luck!

You can try contacting
http://www.pineteacoffee.com.au/
for Da Vinci Syrups. Action supermarkets in Perth used to stock them (with the coffee), but they were not the Splenda sweetened ones. Now they don't seem to be stocking them at all.

We can now get Atkins Sugar Free Pancake Syrup - GNC stores have it in Melbourne anyway.
If you do a search for GNC+Australia you should be able to get a phone number to check your location.
It's not too bad (but I thicken it with some guar gum - about 1/8th tsp per 60ml of the syrup).
Certainly livens up my low carb pancakes.

Hi Nicola,
Sorry I have no advice regards low carb bread - I have not eaten any since March 2003....what a record for me.
I know there is a brand called Bodhi - available in Western Australia I think - you could try searching the web for it. I believe they will deliver to all states in Australia (but you have to buy a certain amount of bread, 3 loaves I think).
Sorry I am so vague about the bread, but hope this points you in the right direction. I think the slices are 7g carb each.

Hi Nicola,
I have just tried the Bodhi Bakery bread and I think the taste is quite acceptable, not soy tasting at all. 7G Carbohydrate per slice. They ship it all over Australia, took only a couple of days to arrive,I sent a letter on Monday(old fashioned way) and I had the bread in Adelaide on Friday. They ship 4 loaves for $26 and that includes air freight. Let me know if you want their email or websight and I will "dig" it out, not sure exactly where I have put it at the moment!!!!, Cheers Lyn

Thanks everyone. That sounds great. 7 carbs/slice doesnt run to a totally toast breakfast but its a start!!
Lyn - if you have the website that would be great. 4 loaves is no problem thanks to the trusty freezer. Cant wait. :p

Hi Nicola,
Bodhi's Bakehouse website is www.bodhi.com.au They have all sorts of products not all low carb, but they have extensive nutritional information about each product. Will be interested in how you find the taste,
Cheers Lyn
