Hi everyone
Did anyone catch the Paul Holmes Show tonight about the "new food pyramid"?
What did you think?
Those short interviews are always so frustrating - they never really explore the whole issue properly...
Anyway a little bit of positive publicity for LC
Cheers

Just caught up with this thread tonight.
I never watch Holmes, but I did see a little item on Breakfast TV "before the war".
Saying that eating a potato is like eating an icecream. At last, this message is getting out into the public arena.
I am collecting my own little converts here at work, maybe things will change in our lifetime!!

I saw the Holmes show you're talking about. It sure didn't go the whole way with LCing. But hey I figure that at least it's a start in the right direction!! Atkins himself says that carbs have to be eaten sometimes (none of us are perfect!) and he just wants people to have a real healthy respect for carbs and the damage they can do.
It's interesting though ... in the space of 18 months I've gone from not hearing or knowing anything about LCing, to hearing about it on the television and I've seen several articles in newspapers recently. I think that's marvellous!! One article in particular spoke of how the consumption of wheat products has decreased by 4% since 1997. Proof that the low carb message is finally sinking in.
long live low carb!!!!!

Hi Joy and Noeleen
Nice to see a couple more Kiwis on here - they're a bit few and far between, a couple of long time contributers have finished up lately.
Good luck - you both seem to be going really well already.

Hello Macadamia
It is good to be here. I tend to be a sporadic visitor to these boards as it depends on my shifts at work.
I like this forum because we can talk metric in here!!
I see now that Consumer and the Listener are also getting in on the debate, and both are promoting the Low Carb option.
Bring it on!!

Hi Joy
Which issue of the Listener is the article in?
Don't usually buy it but will look out for the issue you mentioned.
Have a good weekend.
