I'm following sugar busters and also taking Phentermine for 45 days. I've started losing my hair quicker than normal - others have noticed (wife, haircutter) Any other males had a similar experience with low-carb - diet pill regimens? Any suggestions other than propecia or rogaine?

Hiya Hal. Dr. Atkins says with a new diet some hair loss is unavoidable. BUT I think the Phen attributed to it. You can do a search for Phen and come up with a few sites and forums that will discuss it, I tried to PM you but could not. :)

Hi Hal, I took Phentermine and after I stopped I could not control my appetite and gain it all back. The main reason I stopped taking it is that a friend of mine just had open heart surgery and 2 valves replaced from taking them. You can click here (http://phentermine.drugs.com/) and it will give you just some info on it.
As far as your question goes I would go back to the doctor who prescribed the pills and he should be able to do something about it, actually should only take a phone call to resolve. Hope it didn't seem like I was preaching, just an FYI type of thing.

Two years ago my Doc prescribed Phentermine for me. I lost 20lbs in 5 mos which was basically the one lb a week deal. I too gained it all back very quickly. I mean it was BAD.. I got down to 149 on phen and a year later weighed in at 180! I however did not change my eating much at all. As soon as I stopped the phen it just came back on quick! Plus I had terrible side effects on it.. headache, dry mouth, palpatations.. etc. Now I am doing this without any diet pills because I'm very afraid of what I may have done to my body previosly. Some people have lots of luck on them, but I had a bad experience. I wish you well though and 45 days is not long to be on them .. I was on them 3 mos off a month and then he had me on another 2 mos! I really regret it because they weight loss really did not last for me. Best of luck to you and I wish you the very best.. Take care!

The one thing that all diet pills have in common is that they speed up your metabolism artificially. They use various chemicals to accomplish this: ephedra, chromium, caffiene, gensing, proprietary formulations (i.e., prescriptions) etc.
The reason you gain your weight back is that the metabolism increase was artificial from the pills. When you stop taking the pill, your metabolism slows back to the original speed and you gain back.
What you want to do, is eat foods that force your body to release the fat. Low-carb diets do just this. Therefore, taking diet pills to speed your metabolism up is not likely to make you lose weight any faster if you are LC. In fact, you're probably doing more harm than good. If you're low-carbing it, you don't need diet pills. If you want to help speed your metabolism up naturally, just add some exercise to your daily routine. It doesn't have to be much. Just enough to get the metabolism going. Combining LC and exercise is likely at losing fat faster than a diet pill alone anyway. Diet pills and exercise together is not a great idea. Take a look at all these athletes dropping dead after taking Xenadrine after their training.
Diet pills are not the answer. Changing your WOL and your WOE is.
Take care.
