Hi there,
I am just 4 days into a lo-carb plan and have already dropped over 4 lbs. I am feeling just great.
I found these delicious caramel candies that claim to be 'zero-carb' and the main ingredient is Isomalt. Have tried to research this on 'net but am more confused than ever now. Is this a carb as far as my WOE and ketosis go.?? ( I'm using ketostix and testing moderate levels after day 2 ) I have a really sweet tooth and sweets I could never give up. But I am unsure about the mixed messages out there regarding isomalt. Thanks

Hi Bunini, welcome!

Well done on the 4 pounds in 4 days!

As for the candies, the answer is maybe.
Isomalt is a sugar alcohol. The sugar alcohols do tend to stall some folk, while others have no problems. The only way to find out whether or not you'll be affected is to try them.

You'll find a great article on sugar alcohols in "Low Carb Tips" on the orange bar at the top of the screen.
