Like they say, old habits die hard: I have a habit of skipping breakfast. it's just too much for me to eat in the morning.
i know this is childish, but please indulge me in the reasons why i need to eat breakfast to succeed on low-carb diets
thanks for all the support guys! :daze:

I also have a hard time eating in the morning. But I think you need to eat at least within the first few hours after you wake up. Breakfeast IS the most important meal of the day :D
I have found that if I do skip my AM meal that I am more likely to cheat or want to cheat. Try something small, like a piece of cheese and a piece of bacon. Just remember that when you wake up your body has not had any food for at least 8 hours (if you are so lucky).

You do not have to eat a lot. In fact, a smaller low-carb snack-sized meal is perfect for someone your size. But, it is necessary to level out your blood glucose. Not eating breakfast is one contributing factor to becoming hypoglycemic - which leads eventually to diabetes.
Aside from the health benefits, leveling your glucose helps you respond more intelligently and sensibly to food later on in the day. And, if you find the delay between breakfast and lunch too long, add in another small snack for mid-morning.
IF you refuse this advice and you still intend to skip breakfast daily, then you will help your body the most if you do NOT eat too many carbs, nor any sweets for lunch. Insulin response is greatest to the first meal of the day, whenever that meal occurs. So, if you snack lightly on a low-carb breakfast in the morning, you prevent a huge spike of insulin. If you skip breakfast and eat nothing till lunch, your insulin spike will occur then. The idea is to keep that spike as low as possible.
If your insulin levels go too high, you drop out of ketosis - thereby delaying your weight loss.

I never, ever ate breakfast before starting low carb. The thought of eating that early in the morning made me feel queasy. But it's really important to eat breakfast. Not only for the excellent reasons mentioned above, but also because getting food into your system, even just a little, gets your metabolism going.
At first I had to force myself to eat something little -- a few cucumber slices with a dab of cream cheese -- but after a few months I got used to eating in the morning. I still don't eat a big breakfast but I've finally gotten so I can actually enjoy a half cup of yogurt or something like that.

I was never a breakfast person. Just Coffe for me thanks. Then I would have some crappy snack mid morning. Now I have made Breakfast my most important meal. I have found that all the propaganda about breakfast is true!!!! It does carry me through the day. I have more energy and I am not hungry through the morning. I ahve been working out and I need the energy to keep me going.
I is not always easy to make a good breakfast in the morning so I usually do some prep while cooking dinner. Some times I make sure that I will have leftovers. Usually I have ham and eggs which I can cook while I am getting my kids ready etc. Just put them both in the pan on med for a while and Voila' a nice healthy hot breakfast.

I'm the same way. Never ate breakfast much at all. Now I am having it pretty regularly in the canteen here at work. 2 eggs and 6 strips of bacon. 372cal 30g fat 2g carb.
I'm thinking about starting to pull through McD's and just pick up a single Egg McMuffin on the way to work and toss the muffin. 99 cents is alot cheaper than my company cafeteria. Probably faster too.
BTW.. the Egg McMuffin w/o the muffin is: 150cal / 10g fat / 2g carb
(subtracted the English Muffin stats on their site from the Egg McMuffin stats.)

wow thanks for all the support! It wasn't as bad as I thought it was: I had a cheese omelet (2 eggs fried in olive oil with string cheese), and now I am hopping around like a bunny. No fatigue or even that 'heavy' breakfast feeling. I guess I was confused when I was attempting to eat the high-carb breakfast - i was weighed down (literally!) and felt tired right away. But not with low-carbs.
Btw, it only took me 10 minutes to get through breakfast and I ate a quality meal too. I'm ready to conquer the world now. I'll keep posting my menu and see how long this high will last :o)
thanks again for all the support...i really needed that today!

I keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge at all times...
Lots of times I just grab one of those or I'll make a couple deviled eggs and eat those. Easy!

I too always hated breakfast. I eat breakfast every day now. I don't eat it the moment I get up, but usually about 1 hour later. The reason breakfast is so important is because if you don't eat it your body will go into starvation mode and then try to save every thing you eat as fat instead of using it for energy.

I too am not much of a breakfast fan first thing in the morning. I ususally get up take my dogs for a walk, come back have coffee (black), get ready for work and make myself some finger food for breakfast i.e. slices of cold meat wrapped around cheese. I'll heat these till warm and have that during the morning staff meeting while everyone else is having bagels or donuts.

Here's the funny thing - before lo-carbing I would wake up REALLY hungry - eat oatmeal, or eggs/toast or cereal with bananas. And then, of course, be STARVING by 11:00 am. Now I'm not too hungry before I go to work, so I'll make an omelet or mock danish and bring it with me. Around 9:00 or 9:30 I zap in the m'wave and enjoy. I'm not ready for lunch then til around 1:00 or 1:30, and not terribly hungry, at that. This WOL rocks!

My favorite breakfast to make is a version of eggs florentine.
Weekday mornings I don't put spinich in it or make the Béarnaise sauce.
I take a muffin pan butter the pan or use cooking spray,
line a mufflin pan with a slice of ham add one egg.
10 minutes in a 375 over.
Remove from oven put cheddar cheese on top, return to over bake another 5 minutes.
I make two egg muffins. Total baking time is 15 minutes. So id your are in a hurry you can't do it. I usually put my eggs in the oven, make the kids breakfast, clean up the kitchen and then my breakfast is ready. So if you look at it that way, it doesn't take any time at all.
On the weekends, I make the bearnaise sauce and also add spinich before adding the egg to the muffin pan.
