I just tried Nature's Own Reduced Carbohydrate Premium Wheat bread. The package claims 7 grams per slice, but the hidden carb finder reveals 5.74 as the actual carb count. It tastes good and was $2.95 a loaf. Not bad! I found it at a Wal-Mart SuperStore.

I bought this at a FoodMax in Alabama today. It's great. Only $2.29 for a big loaf and the pieces are a normal size. It looks and taste just like "regular" bread. The package says 7 g total carbohydrates per slice, but 2 g of those are fiber. Thus, an ECC of 5 g per slice. There's no sugar alcohol (unlike the "no sugar" Nature's Own bread). It's made with whole wheat flour, wheat protein, wheat gluten, and soy flour as the main ingredients.
It's great to see a low carb bread appear in a regular supermarket just sitting there with all the other breads! I hope that it sells well and sticks around.

The Food Lion grocery stores carry this bread in Virginia, too. It's just like the real thing. Their whole wheat bread is only 2 more grams of carb as well.

For those of you who can get this bread, I understand it is VERY good, but the distribution area is limited.. Here's their website:

That brand isn't available in Michigan, but here we have a brand called Aunt Millies that has the same carb count, 7 grams per slice. It's their "light wheat" bread and I get it for my kids all the time (still too high in carbs for me); they seem to like it and I like that it has half the carbs and more fiber than the regular breads. If I can catch it on sale, it doesn't cost any more than a regular loaf of bread, either, unless you were in the habit of shopping at the bakery outlet stores where you can get a loaf of white bread for about 50 cents.

This bread is very good. It tastes almost exactly like regular Nature's Own bread. I found it here in Nashville at Kroger and Super Walmart, and I've heard you can also get it at Publix. It's 7 carbs a slice (2 grms fiber so 5 net carbs), and I paid $1.88 for a loaf at Super Walmart, and $1.90 at Kroger. Since I found it, I've had french toast, pb & j, and real BLTs for the first time since low carbing!

Kroger, Publix and Super Walmart carry it here in Nashville, and I guess we're lucky because it's less than $2.00 a loaf at every store. Thanks for the tip on the hidden carbs. I'll have to remember to count each slice as 6 carbs in the future.

Nature's Own now has Fit and Fiber low carb dinner rolls, hamburger buns, and hot dog buns. They appear to be made by the same recipe as their low carb sliced bread. They're very good and cost about half the price of the Atkins low carb rolls and buns.

I had heard Nature's Own was coming out with LC hamburger and hotdog buns, but neither are on the shelf in the stores here in my neck of the woods (central Virginia).
found the loaf bread last fall, nearly jumped up and down for joy right in the bread aisle!
had tried some Atkins breads, not to my taste, the texture was too dense, slices too small and oddly shaped.
Nature's Own lc wheat bread is light, moist and full-sized slices--love it! When I'm in 'losing' mode, though, I don't indulge. I don't gain wieght on it, but I don't lose either.
has anyone seen NO's lc hot dog/burger buns, dinner rolls? and if so, where?
ahh, now if only someone would come up with a good lc rye bread with caraway seeds...

I've been eating the Nature's Own wheat 'n fiber since it hit the shelves in GA (several months ago).. Like some others, I don't indulge often--maybe once a week or so. The whole family eats this bread, and they never even noticed a difference. Thanks for the heads up on the hamburger rolls! I'll be scoping those out immediately. I can get the O'Solo at Kroger, but they are more expensive, I'm sure. Isn't it wonderful to get a pb&j (sugar free, of course) or egg salad on a piece of bread that actually tastes like bread? Hey, I even had a peanut butter and banana sandwich (my all time fav) one day. Very skimpy on the bananas (just a few paper thin slices), but it sure was good to me! :D
