Hello everyone,

I started the atkins diet Jan 2nd 2003 and have dropped about 11 lbs since. The first 9 lbs were pretty fast but the last 2 have been much slower. I have maitained the induction goal of 20 grams per day with an occasional glass(es) of wine. Is this a pretty comon?

Also how have you all dealt with bad breath while being carb conscious.

Hi Jasper,

Yup, that's the way it goes. Some of your first weight loss was water - carbs make the body hold onto water.

Go easy on the wine. Try to keep it dry rather than sweet. Many people would say a glass of wine from time to time is good for you and even can sensitise your body to insulin. Personally I find too much wine or any type of booze makes me stop losing weight.

Good luck. Don't be disappointed. What you are losing now is probably 100 percent fat. Have a look at a 2lb pack of butter. It's a lot and that's what your last two pounds of weight loss were.

I started on Jan 2nd also,
I lost like 6 lb my first like week then i stopped. I am not sure why but i had my hubby hide the scale from me because i am OBSESSED!!! LOL
So i am not sure how much i have lost really. But if i weigh in on 2/24 and have not lost at least 10 lbs i am going to scream!! :eek:
Keep up the good work it will pay off.
