Sweet Cinnamon & Butter Crunchies from Gram's Gourmet
www.gramsgourmet.com
Pork rinds with a Butter/Cinnamon flavour, sweetened with Splenda and NO polyols or glycerol.
VERY good cinnamon flavour, just sweet enough (I HATE too too sweet) and really genuinely low in carbs. DOESN'T taste like pork rinds. Amazing.
I liked them a lot, a great snack and  even a great breakfast!

Hi again Judi:
I don't know why, but I've never been able to get past the pork rind thing. Just can't do it. Now cinammon & butter pork rinds? :Puke:
OK, I'm being obnoxious. :D They must be good cause I know you have great taste!

Hi Y'all!!!
I'm so excited to see you guys are talking about my product! We can't believe how they are selling. I had a feeling these would be a hit, but MAN!!! :-)
We have 11 more flavors of porkies coming out in 2003. Should be a very busy year!
Thanks so much for your patronage,

Flaxie:
Whenever I run across reviews of your products I always note two things:
1. Everyone praises your avoidance of those nasty sugar alcohols; and
2. Everyone always makes note of how utterly adorable your grandson Devin is :)
I can't wait til those other flavors hit the market ... I'm not much of a cinnamon girl, but my mind and taste buds should always be open to new suggestions.

Flaxie, I had no idea the pork rinds everyone is gobbling down are yours! I can't wait to try some...
Congratulations!

Are these available in Canada? Do yo have to order a certain volume and have to pay shipping, etc.? Probably. I am heading off now to view your website. Sounds like great products.
I love pork rinds, they've always been my favourite snack, even before I ever heard of LC. Right now what I love to do is to dip my pork rinds into some sour cream and salsa. Oh yowzer is that ever good, especially the HOT ! :yum:
Please tell me that these products can be purchased in Canada.

Hi, Norma June. I'll put on my LowCarb FoodExperts Canada <-- live link eh? (http://www.lowcarbcanada.com) hat for a moment and tell you I'm working on a way to get them to Canada without the shipping driving the price over the moon.... hmph.
It's true, what they say, I really am trying

Thanks Judi, we here in Canada (Eh!) need more LC products.
Untill I can get (is it called Keto?) spaghetti and other stuff readily and not have to pay a king's fortune for it I'll have to satisfy myself with spaghetti squash. Ditto other products.
Would love to see RC Cola with Splenda here in Canada Eh!

Hi Y'all,
<Waving wildly!!>
Lots of people don't realize that Gram is Julee is Flaxie. LOL Like they say, I don't care what cha call me, as long as you call me! ha ha ha
Wait til Devin reads about him being cute. :-) He is already so excited about being our company mascot, and is my number one taste tester, bless his little heart. The only thing that gratifies me more than making lowcarb foods is what people say about my grandchildren!!! My grandkids are my reward for not killing my children..... LOL
On the Canada thing we are trying to get that figured out, between orders that have quadrupled in the last 3 weeks. We will do our best to make sure that our Judi can have them available for you soon!
Thanks so much for the well wishes! This is a very exciting time for my company and for my family.
Happy Lowcarbing,

HI!
I too bought the gram's gourmet pork rinds and love them!!! You mentioned that they are low in carbs. It says on the package that there are no carbs. If you know something I don't---please share! I am new to this! Thanks... Angie

Hi Angie!! (I love your little waving person! :-)
Our Sweet Cinnamon & Butter Crunchies (porkrinds) are made for us by one of the nations largest porkrind producers. I assure you the carb count is absolutely accurate. Long before we run the first bag a test sample is sent to an independent lab for analysis. It's only then that we get the nutritional information and have it placed on the bags. So, munch away!!! LOL
We've had people say that the only problem with our porkies is how to STOP eating them. :-)
I'm so glad you like them! Stay tuned for our cheddar crunchies coming out in early March. :-)
Happy Lowcarbing,
Julee

Gram? If you can, we Canadians sure would appreciate it if you could arrange a flat rate for shipping, regardless of weight, like Atkins does. I have spend thousands of dollars on low-carb products, and I can't tell you how many times I've found products I want that I do not order because the site charges by weight...Charging by weight only encourages people to order LESS not MORE. Thanks, :-)
Also for Norma June...you can now get CRUSH cream soda or grape sodas, made with splenda, at your local grocery store in Canada. I got some at Loblaws last week, and they are yummy! Good luck :-)

sorry gram, forgot to mention that it would help if you can ship general delivery (USPS) also. Some of us drive to the U.S. to pick up our orders, as the flat-rate shipping within the U.S. is cheaper, but we need to be able to request United States Postal Service general delivery so that the post offices there will hold it for us until we can get it! (UPS and other courier services do not ship to general delivery/p.o. boxes, and the post office does not accept general delivery from UPS, they only accept general delivery parcels delivered by the United States Postal Service.) I am sooo looking forward to your products !!! Really don't understand why more products are not being made available here..it's a HUGE and UNTAPPED market!!!!!
Thanks again
:-)

Hi Pushkin,
That's good feedback to have.... I didn't realize that Atkins charges a flat shipping rate. I'll look into it. I know we just sent out some samples for Judi so hopefully we can get that all ironed out and get out things into her distribution for Canada.
I'll bet lowcarb stores would go over great in the major cities in Canada. Have the health food stores not caught on yet to this way of eating in the Great White North?

Yes, they have caught on..and taken FULL advantage. For instance, at GNC in Ottawa, a can of Atkins Shake mix that sells for between $14.99 and $16.99 on the net and in the U.S. is selling for between $53.00 and $58.00 here. The markup is completely unreasonable, and I for one REFUSE to support such greed. If I order directly from Atkins I pay less than $23.00. Of course I order a lot each time, both because Atkins gives a free box of bars right now for orders over $100.00 and because they have a flat shipping rate, so I have ordered several hundred dollars worth of stuff in the last few months. (comes to a couple thousand in Canadian dollars, but still a much better deal than buying it here). By the way, I did order your granola from Netrition (don't have it yet, I am driving to the U.S. to pick it up, again because they ship by weight (grrrrrr lol) but looking forward!). I really wanted to order a whole bunch of your products through netrition, it all looks so good, but with their shipping being by weight it's just not worth it..I really hope you can make the same arrangements as Atkins has...much better for us and helps you to get huge orders as well. Best of luck. I do have a lot of experience ordering online, so if you need any help or tips I would be happy to help. Thanks, :-)

Pushkin, allow me to suggest (as a retailer in Canada) that you let GNC, with their lousy reputation for overpricing on everything, know that you find their pricing to be 'gouging'.
Meanwhile, consider talking to other retailers, like smaller local health food stores, about low carb products. Here at this end of the country, there are a few expressing interest at last, and most are DRIVEN by their customers doing the asking for products rather than shipping them in from the States...
"market-driven" is the phrase of the day!

Finally found a bag at the local health food shop.
THESE ARE GREAT!!!!!!!!
They taste like those cinnamon things you buy at taco bell.
I will have to go back and buy up all that the store has. My wife hate pork rinds, but I will force her to try one of these. They taste nothing like a pork rind.
Great product! Crunchy, sweet and that cinnamon and butter taste just makes it perfect.
In reading the other posters, I live in Alaska and have a hard time getting stuff without getting gouged with shipping charges.
To fight the shipping charges, I can usually get one of the local health food stores to buy a case or two of a product on request. There are enough low carbers up here to insure that the product will not go to waste.
With as good as these snacks are, I think they had better order a lot more!!

Hi Y'all,
We've been so busy I haven't even had a chance to pop in here and say THANK-YOU for your reviews on the Crunchies. Also, Judi s right.... these health food stores that are near you WILL stock what you want, but you gotta bug 'em. :-) Consumer demand is what will drive all lowcarb products into the mainstream grocery stores, too..... so let your voices be heard!! And check out Judi's Expert Foods of Canada site.....I know she's working harder all the time to get the most popular products.
Our Cheddar crunchies come out next week, followed by Buttered Popcorn flavor. (yummm :-)
Glad y'all are enjoying them.
Happy Lowcarbing,
Julee, Flaxie, Gram :-)

Hi There!!!
Nope, I hadn't seen your questions until just now....sorry. As much as we have tried to get our porkies into Canada (and onto Judi's site!) we haven't been able to yet. (although I haven't given up!) Now that our Cheddar flavor is out I'm going to try to do whatever we can do deal with the customs issues and get these to y'all in the Great White North!!
Sorry it took me so long to reply....busier than a one armed paper hanger! :-)

YUM!!!
Just got my first shipment of these and I love them!
I bought both flavors and just gobbled down the Cinnamon flavor first. Even my coworkers liked them.
Highly recommended!
Thank you!

*wiping the tell-tale orange powder from her fingers*
One word: Yum!
Okay, here's another word: addictive!
Good stuff! I will say, I was surprised that the cinnamon flavor has hydrogenated oil as an ingredient...

How is the cheddar cheese flavour? Can not be bad, as that is less a challange I suppose than the cinnamon was.
valkyrie9
Wed, Jul-09-03, 11:31
i was considering buying the cheddar and cinnamon/butter pork rinds from gram's gourmet, but saw that they contain partially hydrogenated oils. i thought this was a no-no? can someone clarify for me?
thanks!
lperk002
Thu, Jul-10-03, 17:16
Unless the formula has changed in the past 6 weeks or so, the cinnamon have hydrogenated oil, but the cheddar flavor does not.
valkyrie9
Thu, Jul-10-03, 17:21
so does that mean the cinnamon is not allowed but the cheddar is?
lperk002
Thu, Jul-10-03, 17:29
Well, the hydrogenated oils make the cinnamon a "no-no" for me! It's up to you whether you want to introduce those damaged oils into your system. However, you can easily make cinnamon porkies at home by putting some pork rinds in a ziploc bag, adding a little melted butter, a dash or two of good cinnamon and a packet of splenda (adjust seasoning to your taste . Shake and eat immediately; you don't want them to go soggy.
Flaxie (Julee, owner of Gram's Gourmet) is a member here on the board, and would probably like to hear what members think about the hydrogenated oils situation with the cinnamon flavor. Her info should be on page one of this thread.
Hope this helps,
Lisa

Both flavors, Sweet Cinnamon Butter and Cheddar pork rinds, are in our new low carb store. :yay:
What I'd like to know is...NOW that I've gotten addicted to them,...where are the other flavors that were supposed to be introduced this year? Not here yet? :( Two and a half months to go........
I'd kinda like to stock up for when I can eat them again...after my anti-candida treatment is finished.....
