As much as I like most of the Atkins products, the shake mixes
are not high on my list.

I always used the Atkins choc powder in the past which is very
good IMO, very chocolatey, creamy silky smooth, but yesterday
I bought the ready-to-drink cans, they are quite pricey, but
quite tastey. 7.99 4/pak at GNC yesterday (on sale mind you).
Going to look elsewhere though and see if I can find them
cheaper. I'm not a breakfast-maker and need something
ready-to-drink in the a.m. before work.

IMO, I like them.

I really have given the Atkins powder mix much of a try since
I tried the Atkins shakes in a can. I have one every morning
for my breakfast. I love them. Deals can be found at Kroger
grocery stores and wal-mart. Once GNC had a big sale on them.
I stock up when I find a sale.

I like the chocolate and the Chocolate Royale RTD... Just
bought a 4-pak of the latter last night at full price (9.95)
at Thriftway in West Seattle. Trader Joe's carries Choc,
Vanilla, and Strawberry RTDs for $2/can, but they are always
out of the chocolate.

The powder isn't bad, but I like some the KETO flavors better.
Have NOT tried the KETO RTDs... maybe if the come down in
price AND I get $5/off coupon. :-)

Keto can be found at www.lifeservices.com and ALL of the above
at a possibly better price at www.netrition.com

Loretta; first a big CONGRATULATIONS on your stats, amazing
and inspirational. Second, is 7.99 for a 4/pak a good deal in
your opinion? Don't have Kroger here in Renton, WA, but we do
have Fred Meyer and I will look there. What price do you pay
at Wal-Mart? Anyone know the price of the EAS shakes?

I have bought the pre-made shakes in a can. I think that I
bought them in July when I started LC and I still have one
left in the refrigerator. So, I don't really like the flavor
very much. Carbolite and EAS shakes are pretty good. I prefer
just buying a 2 or 5 lb. jug of whey protein powder and mixing
them up myself. This is a lot cheaper than any of the low carb
specific products, and only contains (typically) 1 gram of
carbohydrates per serving.

Ditto. I like the Atkins pre-mixed shakes and I like the
Designer Whey Strawbery shake mix (I have chocolate, but
haven't tried it yet), but the Atkins mix just did not do
it for me.

I love netrition. I wish they could put together trial
packages of all the major low carb shake mixes so people could
try them for a couple of days
w/o buying a whole can.

Martha,

The Ready To Drink chocolate is the only flavor I likein
Atkins. I prefer the Keto powder shakes myself - especially
Banana Creme!

Have tried the powders but I can never seem to get the lumps
out of it even with the blender. Too time consuming and too
much noise in the a.m. for by 2nd shift DH to use the
blender any way.

I purchased several flavors of Keto powder mix before I tried
the Atkins Canned Shakes. Can you tell me how to make the Keto
powder shakes taste better. Thanks Loretta

The power shaker they give you with a 4-pack purchase works
great, although you'll still have to mix a little, then scrape
the sides and finish mixing.

I add an ounce of DaVinci syrup for extra sweetness and 2
ounces of heavy cream then water to 8 ounces. Makes a
delicious and thick shake.

BillJ: Which brand are you referring to that gives you the
'power shaker'?

Atkins, either from their catalog or from AtkinsCenter.Com.
Buy a four pack - 1 of each flavor - and they give you a power
shaker that normally sells for $10. Product # 100-119. Runs on
4 AA batteries. I was skeptical at first but I've had mine
over 1 1/2 years and it works great. I use it about 3 times a
week. I think I've replaced the batteries once after
performance on thick shakes started to deteriorate. It was
good as new with new batteries.

I have to agree with those who said they're more difficult to
make than they should be (i.e., lumps, mess, etc.).

I've used the shakes as infrequent desert treats vs meal
replacement, but what I've found with the various one I've
tried (Atkins mix, Atkins Pre-made, or EAS) is that a splash
of heavy cream and a vigorous shake or blending goes a really
long way toward making them have a much better taste and
overall texture (body).

I've also tried blending in small amounts of fresh
strawberries and/or a heaping spoon-full of low carb
ice-cream. Both of these do wonders too.

expensive...but tasty. I am losing weight slowly but inches
fast...so I am not sure if it stalls.

They don't have to be so thick... :-) I usually used ONE scoop
to 8-10 ounces of water. Could always drink two If I really
wanted more.
