1 lb. lean ground beef (85-90%)
4-5 lbs. cabbage, shredded
2 cans beef broth (low sodium preferred)
1 can water
1/2 onion, minced
1 bunch scallions, minced
ton of minced garlic (2 tbsp at least)
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
To taste:
cumin
cayenne pepper or hot sauce
ginger
black pepper
minimal sea salt and/or seasoning salt

Shred and brown ground beef (like for tacos) with onions, scallions, garlic and seasonings. Add cabbage, broth and water. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is soft/crunchy. Adjust seasonings to taste. Put in a large container. Refrigerate. Reheat as needed. Can be frozen in portion sizes also.

This is a great recipe that fills and satisfies. It's great for a quick meal or work lunches. It also cleans me out better than phyllisium.

I wonder how this would be if you substituted smoked sausage for the ground beef - to make old fashioned cabbage/sausage soup? Think I will try it...

This recipe is very versatile. You can substitute sausage, beef, steak or chicken. You can also alter the spices to give it different flavors like cummin and chili powder for Mexican, tomatoes and Italian seasoning for Italian, curry powder for Indian. You can add some soy and five spice powder for Chinese.
