I am curious if anyone in this newsgroups is on the Dr. Atkins
diet? I am asking this question in a broad sense and do not
want to start a bashing of me or Dr. Atkins. I have monitored
this group for some time and can see there are some touchy
subjects in here! I will say this, I have been on it for some
time ( 9 months ) and my numbers are the best they have been
ever. My Doctors says she thinks I can stop taking Glucophage
XR on my next visit. I am type 2 and have been talking 2
(500mgs) twice daily. She cut me back to one (500mg. once a
day. OH! I almost forgot......... EXERCISE ......EXERCISE
........ EXERCISE!!! Ron... in Tennessee

I was on Atkins for a year and did great. I lost about 50
pounds and was able to go off my glucophage. It also helped my
blood pressure and cholesterol.

Since then, I've been doing a modified low-carb diet,
allowing myself more carbs on weekends and holidays. I also
am back on glucophage, but my bg is pretty much under control
most of the time.

Jerry, I forgot to mention. I have also lowered my blood
pressure, cholesterol, beside the dramatic reduction in my
triglycerides! The triglycerides really had me scared, they
where VERY high. That is what motivated me to research the Dr.
Atkins diet. I am very thankful I
did. Good luck and good health. Ron....in Tennessee
