has anyone tried the EAS recommended type of training before?
i.e run for a minute at various speeds?

I have tried it and it is very difficult but very effective

EAS - Experimental and Applied Sciences Supplement company -
one of the largest. Affiliated with the Body-for-Life
challenge. The 20 minute Interval training is outlined in the
challenge protocol.

From personal experience, the aerobics solution is very
effective. I've done more experiments on interval training on
a treadmill. 30s of full sprint then 30 s of straddling the
belt. That's effective. I've also tried doing 6s of full
sprint then 9s of straddling. I find I can go a little faster
this way. I've read that the smaller the sprint interval, the
more fat is utilized for energy. Who knows - but the main
principle on interval training is the "EPOC" - Post exercise
oxygen consumption which elevates your resting metabolism for
up to 48 hours after the "wind sprints".

Please give your references which show that resting metabolism
is elevated for 48 hours afterward.
