I had a pelvic ultrasound on Friday because I'm back to looking pregnant when I'm not. They called me tonight informing me that they found a cyst. So I have to go back to see the doc.
I have this funny feeling I'll be posting to the PCOS forum very soon.

Oh Kristine, I am sorry to hear you are having troubles. At least, the Dr. is doing something about it. And if it IS PCOS, then you know you are already on the best way of eating to help it. Hope things turn out well for you. :bhug:

Thanks ladies. :) In a way, I'm glad they found something. I was worried he'd just say, "nothing's wrong with you; here's some Prozac." I have to go back in six weeks to have it looked at again. (Joy. Maybe they'll actually *succeed* in making my bladder explode this time. ;) )
I didn't get into discussion of PCOS with the doc, but I've been lurking on a depo-provera support forum, and there seems to be a definite pattern of former depo users developing PCOS. :exclm:

If PCOS is what I think it is, it's not just Depo users. My Gyno said he's seen a significant rise in cases of it, especially in young women (20's).
I went in because I was concerned with excess facial hair, and severely irregular periods. I also had psoriasis (not achne) and an inablity to loose weight on a conventional diet, which lead to the discussion. I was 22, and I've never even used the pill.
I wasn't *officially* diagnosed, but we suspect that's the cause of a few of my problems (hormone imbalances, etc.) It was several years ago that we talked about it, and I haven't had any difficulties. I used a med cocktail to try to alleviate some of the symptoms, but given up on that.
This diet proves, that I can loose weight. I was just using the wrong approach.
Good Luck though.

Thanks Nati.

Yes, I've heard this, too. There seems to have been a sharp rise in the amount of refined carbs and sugar intake over the last generation or two. Since insulin resistance is at the center of PCOS, I'm sure that has something to do with it.
What I and many other depo users noted was that we had *zero* gynecological symptoms until after using it. No PMS, no cysts - nothing. *raises an eyebrow*
I really wish I could find a GP - there are none in my area accepting new patients. :( It's been two years since my last pap and physical, plus I'd really like to get my glucose tolerance and insulin checked out. It's kinda frustrating trying to diagnose yourself from the computer.
