I started this diet just recently and have decided to eat some foods that are against my low-carb diet but are specifically re-made somehow to taste like the original things. Things like pasta, bread, and bars. My concern is the unhealthy sweeteners and things that are added to these products ie. that the Atkin's Bars, Keto Bars and Goods. Here is a list of my concerns:
 Sucralose
 Acesulfame
 Glycerine
 Malititol

I personally couldn't care less about the taste of these bars or foods as that is not my goal. My goal is to remain healthy and stick to my diet. Is there such thing as a bar that is not "sweet"? Abviously you can't make a bar sweet unless you use sugar or something that is artificial and not good for you.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

paristhedo, I've moved your post from the introductions forum and deleted the two duplicate ones. Multiple threads of the same post can be confusing to those who wish to reply.
I doubt you'll find a LC bar that tastes 'right' or 'sweet' that isn't made with AS or sugar alcohols. It's also a pretty good bet that those you do find that are "LC" really arent when you factor in how sugar alcohols and glycerine can effect insulin levels.
You'll find that many of us on this forum try to avoid LC Frankenfoods (foods that are made to resemble the high carb foods that we have given up). A year of LCing has taught me that eating whole, natural foods is the best way to go. I'd rather have some whole wheat bread that's high in fiber and contains a few extra grams of carbs than go the 'fake food' route.
If you click on the link across the top of every page in orange highlight called 'Low Carb Tips' you'll find an article on Sugar Alcohols that may be of some interest.
Cheers,
Nat

I go ahead and enjoy my artificial sweeteners, in moderation, and I ain't dead yet.
I like a lot of Dr Mercola's articles, but I think if you ate his diet and avoided all the things he tells you to avoid, you'd have one boring life. "Are you really going to live longer, or is it just gonna seem like it?" (I wish I knew who originally said that. I think it was someone on Oprah... )
