Hi everyone,
For the first time on Atkins (6 weeks), I showed a gain this AM when I weighed in.
I believe it's from being away last weekend and eating tons of luncheon meats, eggs and cheese.
My question: If I eat lots more chicken and fish, will that help with the water retention? I think the deli meats held water in my body!
Thanks,
Talon

Eating straight meat might help - those luncheon meats tend to have a great deal of salt - not to mention nitrates.

Many processed foods--meats included-contain sugar of some sort (corn syrup, dextrose), so you may have been eating more carbs than you realized. Also, eggs and cheese do have some carbs, so if you weren't counting those then you may have been underestimating your carb intake in that way. Also, eating away from home and not being sure of the ingrediants of everything, it is very tough to keep carbs from sneaking in. Unless you travel alot, you probably don't need to worry too much--for next trip you may just want to plan a bit more in advance and bring "emergency supplies" in case you can't find LC-friendly foods.
