Is anyone out there familiar with the LEAP program, which
consists of the MRT (Mediator Release Test) for food
sensitivities, and the ensuing ImmunoCalm Dietary Program?
The idea of the test is to determine a person's individual
blood chemical sensitivities to various kinds of foods and
additives. The purpose of the diet program is to purge the
system of toxins built up from problem foods, as well as
attempt to reduce one's future sensitivities over the next
several months.
My wife recently had the test done, and was surprised at some
of the foods she was declared sensitive to. But the diet
program itself is quite restrictive, especially in the
beginning, and is intended to last *at least* six months but
possibly longer (or indefinitely), which is an extremely
forboding and depressing thought.
I'm looking for any resources out there about this test and
program. They have a web site of their own (whose URL I
forget), but I'm looking for other resources that comments on
this, or support groups of others who're on the program, etc.,
etc., etc. (Keyword searches at sites such as Google don't
seem to turn up much so far.)
Thanks in advance.

Once upon a time, our fellow Tom Kiefer rambled on about "LEAP
& ImmunoCalm Dietary Program." Our champion De-Medicalizing in
sci.med.nutrition retorts, thusly ...

Ha, ... Hah, Ha!
Personally, I prefer this LEAP program!

I re-found the LEAP web site; it's at
http://www.leapallergy.com/
BTW, as helpful as Mr. Gohde's response to my initial posting
was, my wife suffers from a handful of ailments, including
both diabetes and fibromyalgia, which makes it very difficult
for her to perform any sort of regular exercise (much as she
would like to be able to do so), and even more difficult than
for most to lose weight. Our doctor recommended the LEAP test
and program for her, and while the test itself seems
interesting, I have serious questions about the
trustworthiness of the results, whether its success has been
documented in any sort of literature, etc. And the ensuing
dietary program seems extremely restrictive and open-ended,
which is currently posing as a greater source of stress for
my wife than the ailments that it is supposedly expected to
help her with.
So, again, if anyone knows anything about this program, or
even has any input based on their web site....

Are the ailments immunologically related as diabetes and
fibro? Exercise may help but it will not solve your wife's
problems. Tracking down food allergies could be a straw man,
and given the wide range of 'apparent' food allergies I would
suggest something is amiss with the testing or the idea that
these allergies are precipitating your wife's problems.
I'd be more inclined to examine her family history for
allergies and immunological related conditions. In the first
instance finding ways to help stabilise or minimise a possible
immunological over activation might be a better strategy. Anti
oxidants may help but will be of limited value, omega fatty
acids definitely worth thinking about as these do have
anti-inflammatory properties.
You haven't provided sufficient information and in any event
you should not be seeking answers here, only guides and hints.
Does your wife experience increased sensitivity to pain and if
so is this related to her menstrual cycle? Are there any
circumstances which exacerbate her condition\s or vice versa?
How long have these problems existed and what strategies has
she employed in the past to address these? Try allergy testing
using another program or test for confirmation of the results.
Good luck
