It will be one month with this woe on Oct. 24th and I am so
tired, what could be wrong? Doing vitamins etc. and eating
very well, sometimes feeling guilty as I feel like I am
cheating and I am not. Have a Dr's appt. coming up in two
weeks just to do lab work, hopefully he will have some
answers. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way.
TIA, Mary

Mary,
I have Chronic Pernicious Anemia... it means that my system
doesn't absorb enough B12 or Iron to really matter. Pill
vitamins don't work for me.
Check your health food store and see if you can get B12
Lozenges or Drops that will absorb faster and more completely
into your system. B12 is a vitamin that your system can always
use anyway, even if you aren't deficient, I know most people
can use the little extra energy it gives them.

Are you actually feeling tired, or do you feel that your
muscles have no power? If the latter, you could be potassium
depleted. Perhaps have your doc take a look at your
electrolytes, too?

I know the whole point of this NG is to promote LCing, but
when I have tried to cut carbs, my energy level drops WAY
down. I have been told that over time this improves, and maybe
you are in that period and you will feel better soon? "Jim and

I had my annual blood work done three weeks after starting Low
Carb. It was the best my blood scored in several years!
I get tired some days too. I started taking coral calcium and
omega 3 caplets in addition to my vitamin. This seems to help.
My knee joints have stopped hurting too!

sorry that you are feeling so poorly! if its just blood work
that you are waiting to do, can't your doctor move the
appointment up?

You *have* to take your potassium, calcium and magnesium. It's
not optional. You will *not* get enough electrolytes to
replenish the ones you lose; if you do *not* replace them you
*will* feel like shit.

If I take a Centrium multi-vitamin, will that give me what I
need?...Or do I need more Potassium, calcium and magnesium? I

Eat more potassium rich foods (green leafy and cruciferous
vegetables, avocados, a little soy flour, tuna, etc) Get a
basic cheap calcium-magnesium supplement at any health food
store or discount warehouse. Follow label instructions. Eat
some protein and good fat every 3 hours to maintain stable
blood sugars and get at least 8 hours sleep each night. That
should help tremendously.

My doctor recommended avacados and yams for calcium as well.
He said not too many yams because of the carbs, but avacados
are great. I'm allergic to milk, so I also get mocha mix.
Also, make sure NOT to get Calcium Carbonate. It doesn't
digest nearly as well as Calcium Citrate. The stuff that my
doc sold me is Calcigard 250, AMNI (Advanced Medical
Nutrition, Inc.) The bottle has www.douglastabs.com on it.
Make sure it has Vit D too, that helps absorb the calcium.
Good luck!

Dehydration can cause a person to feel overly tired. Don't
forget to drink lots of water.
