I recently was introduced to Carbo-lite chocolate bars (these are not meal replacements, but candy). They are sugar free and are very low carb. They are also delicious! I recommend them to anyone. Go to Yahoo and search Carbo-lite and that will point you to where you can get some. There is dark and milk chocolate and both are great. Anyone agree?

Those low carb bars have hidden carbs in them and will trigger the blood sugars to go nuts.

Try doing a search on low carb bars on this forum and you should get a ton of discussions we have had previous :)

Thanks for the info. I assumed when you were discussing bars, you meant the meal replacements. However, Last night I ate a half of my carbo-lite and it took me completely out of ketosis. How do they hide carbs?

They currently get away with it, until the usage of sugar alcohols nutritional information is controlled and enforced.

Many manufacturer justify this subtractions due the late digestion of these sugar alcohols. They treat them as "almost" fiber.

Doreen has recently written an article on sugar alcohols in her tips column on our web site.

Yes, they use maltitol, and no, I'm not gonna tell you you can't eat them :) Just wanted to point out that they have more carbs than they claim, in addition to their laxative effect.
