I had quite a bout of vomiting and diarrhea last night after a fairly unbalanced carb meal. I'm on CAD and am allowed a carb meal once a day. I knew I'd be going out to dinner so had no carbs before that meal. Now, I know that the meal wasn't right, but the reaction I had was quite severe. I had chichen parm, salad, some pasta (not too much) and a piece of toll house pie for dessert. Actually the meal wasn't too bad, just a bit heavy on the carbs. Oh, and popcorn first while we waited for the meal.
Anyway, within an hour of the meal I had severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and then, about a half hour later started to throw up all the food I'd eaten. This went on all evening.

I was on six years ago and this happened then three or four times over the course of about 8 months. Now it's happened again after about two-three weeks on CAD again. I'm a little concerned about this reaction. Of course my daughter immediately says I shouldn't be on CAD, but I disagree. Any suggestions/comments/advice?

Thanks,

PJ

That fast and violent a reaction sounds a lot like food poisoning!

Did anyone else in your party have the same foods you did? If so, see if they also were sick.

If the symptoms have stopped, don't worry too much about it, just be careful next time you go out. If you are still having the symptoms, it might be worth contacting your physician.

Could be it was just the mix of extreme foods. The popcorn alone would do me in, but with a very sweet pie on top of it all.... :Puke:

However, the food poisoning is also a possibility and the repeated vomiting for a number of hours rather indicates that. Might want to call the restaurant and let them know or inquire if others had the problem. Or the health department.

Hope you feel better soon and stay that way.

What is CAD?
