Just wondering if anyone else has been in the situation going into....
I have been on b/c pills for about 10 years now to control my PCOS symptoms (along with spironolactone for acne/hair growth). I recently began taking glucophage and am now up to a 1500/day dosage (500 3x/day). Because the b/c pills affect my blood pressure I'm going to be going off of them now. I'm a little nervous about the side effects that may occur.
I am following Schwarzbein and have had good success so far, and plan on continuing down that path (because I have read that it can help control symptoms also).
I just wanted to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation and if they could give me a little "foresight" into what I might expect.
Thanks everyone!

I have been on Spironolactone to reduce hair growth for about 3 weeks. I was told it was primarily a blood pressure medication and the hair growth control was a side effect. Maybe its the spironolactone thats affecting your blood pressure and not the b/c pill?
I have not actually been diagnosed with PCOS, but have many symptoms. Since starting low carbing I have managed to regulate my period  clear up my acne and feel great! Its definately the way to go....

Thanks for the reply :)
Actually, my blood pressure was too high before while taking the b/c pills, the spironolactone I'm taking probably had an effect as far as lowering it goes. But, spironolactone isn't really used as a blood pressure medication much anymore, there are newer ones that are more effective. I am on another one, that is what I'm concerned about......how much stopping the b/c pills will lower my bp since I'm taking medication specifically for high blood pressure. Was just wondering if anyone else has been through the same experience.

I had High blood pressure with a pill many years ago but I wasn't on aldactone. I wouldn't think it should effect your BP that much in lowering it. You could maybe have some dizzyness and lightheadedness at first but you should be okay. Aldactone is a diuretic not a BP medication. It can effect the BP but it usually is a very mild decrease not a great huge effect. Pay attention to how you feel and talk to you doctor if it is too much for you.
