I'm new, this is day one for me, well sort of, I was on Atkins years ago and lost weight, but fell for the scare tactics put out by the traditional med estab. It warmed my heart to see the recent findings, where they squirmed around before admitting Atkins was right all along, sorry Doc, should've remained true to you. Now I have 30 lbs to dump. Like I said 3 things, beginning w/least important:
1) Jalapenos, LOVE them, like dicing them into tuna, allowed?? My guess is they contain at least a small amt. of carbs, but never hurts to ask.
2) artificial sweetners, uh, do I recall a limit on these, hope not, I'm trying with the water, but hey I'm a tea woman, like it sweet.
3) THIS IS THE BIGGIE: Caffeine, must have it. I saw a message down the topic list but please, please, tell me I can be successful and still indulge, I'm addicted, I like being addicted, don't want to recover.
Thanks!!

Hi again Cheryl,
jalapeno - should be fine, I'm guessing they are around the same carb count as chilli peppers, so real low
Artifical sweetners - yes you can have these but be careful. It does csue some people to stall, plus the idea of induction is to beat the carb.sugar craving. Having A/S can stop you getting beyond the cravings.
Caffeine - as with A/S, it might low your loss down. Some folks have no trouble with it, others do. Personally I have a 2 cup a day habit which I have had right from the start of Atkins, and don't particularly want to give it up either ;) It hasn't been a problem for me, but you may need to monitor how you are going. IF things aren't working too well then A/S and caffeine will need to be the first things to go ;)

Appreciate the advise. I have Atkins book, somewhere, but can't find it since a re-model when things got thrown around. I have most of it etched in the old memory banks, certainly the basics, but little things keep coming to mind, so, rather than thwart myself from the beginning, thought I better ask, again thanks Lesley.
Like I said first day, but so far, I'm happy as a clam, now I'm munching on Pepper Jack cheese, it's great! Haven't had it in years, it was taboo on the old low fat. Bye for now :)

Cherlyn!
Good to have you back!
I too did Atkins years ago and did very well on it, but at that time my only goal was to loose weight, and I stopped when I'd met my goal. This time I'm on it for life! :)
Over the years I've tried so many diets....all with the same result. I'd loose some, then go back to eating normal and gain it all back again!
Here are 2 sites you need to check out:
http://atkinscenter.com/
http://www.fitday.com/
The Atkins Center probably has all the information you need....and it's free! :yay:
Fitday is a site that allows you to record everything you eat, keeping track of carbs, fats, proteins, vitamins, etc. They have a pretty big database and you can always enter custom foods if you can't find what you need!
From Fitday:
Jalapenos have .8 carbs, .3 fiber, .08 fat and .19 protein.
Check it out....and welcome to this new WOL

Thanks Cindy Sue! Appreciate the warm welcome. Atkins is the only diet that ever worked for me, despite years of struggling, you name it, low fat, liquid protein, cabbage soup, diet pills and on and on.... I guess I've come full circle, back to what works.
Day one was great, I almost for guilty for not suffering, I forgot all the great food I can eat again. I had grilled steak, salad w/Roquefort for dinner, and believe it or not, I couldn't finish, I was full. I used to eat all that pasta, with a chunk of bread, and salad w/fat free dressing(yuk, never again) and still go to bed hungry. Unbelievable, I still feel full, 3 hours after eating.
Try the tuna w/jalapeno, a little cilantro, it's great!! Thank you for the sites, I've already begun checking them out, they're great!
Hey guys, has the breakfast thing improved? Don't get me wrong, I love eggs, had an omlette w/cheese today, egg salad tommorow(work day) I know I'll get tired after awhile though, any suggestions.
Thanks!
