Hello All,
I'm sure that this is not the first time this question is being asked, so if you could point me to the right direction to look up the answer for a response I'd really appreciate it.
I have lost weight, great, but when people ask me how i'm doing it and I explain to them the Atkins Nutritional Approach, they wave their figner at me and say i'm killing myself eating like that....
I try to explain it - but obiously not doing it right, because they just shake their heads and walk away...
Help would be much appreicated.
Thanks

....from well-meaning (though misinformed) people, you could just say that you're avoiding sugars and starches and leave it at that. For some reason, just saying the name "Atkins" to some people is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. I recently had a training class where the topic of diets came up. One of my classmates is following Schwarzbein (the instructor is following Weight Watchers) and when they described the plan, she got all indignant about "all that fat" and went on for quite a while about how they were plugging up their arteries with "all that fat floating around in their bloodstream". No amount of explanation was going to change her mind, so we just dropped it.
Of course, another less tactful approach would be to hand them a copy of the book and say, "Read this and then we'll have an informed discussion". :read2:

Hi msistas,
If YOU feel good and if YOU are losing weight then that should be all that matters. Seek approval only from yourself, your scales and your tape measure!
If people walk away shaking their heads well that's their loss isn't it? You've got enough friends here on this board.
Low carbing isn't a religion. We don't need converts. And as for people who don't agree with us...well they're just plain wrong!
Hold your head up and keep stright on with what you're doing. And good luck to you!

I think that all you have to say is you are cleaning up the way you eat by not eating refined foods like sugar, white flour, white rice, french fries, etc., and eating more vegetables and unprocessed foods. No one can argue with that.
