I am into my third week. Had a very successful induction lost 13 LB, I weigh myself every Monday, but made the mistake of weighing myself today (Friday) to see how things were going! To my horror I have gained 2LB - How can this be when I have been so good?

Please help I feel down :o(

Hi Abbi!

From what I've read here on the forum, this is actually quite common. The culprit is likely water weight (unless you've really eaten 7,000 more calories than what you burned in the past few days). As I understand it, your body suddenly realizes that its fat cells have gotten smaller and doesn't like it, so it fills those smaller fat cells with water to plump them up again. This is only temporary and should go away once your body understands that it's okay for those fat cells to be shrinking. Many people also experience a brief stall or small gain following induction when they've dropped a good bit of weight (as you have) as your body adjusts to the sudden weight loss before it resumes losing again. Keep doing what you're doing and things will likely start moving in the other direction again soon. :)

Hi Lisa

Thanks for the advice, do you think that maybe I should carry on with induction for a couple more weeks. I have been eating 5g for carbs more a day after my first two weeks. Would it be safe to carry on with induction for a while longer?

Thanks
Abbi

Hi Abbi! I have lost 18 pounds since August 1, and this week I have gained 2 while being very careful. I hate that.

Atkins says that you can stay in induction for as long as you need to as long as you have at least 30lbs. to lose. I try to keep my carbs under 30 but induction is just too boring and strict for me to keep up with! Don't worry Abbi - your weight will come off and mine too! Cindi

Hi there Abbi.......

What you have experienced is quite normal and common around the forum. Lisa has given you good advice, and I can speak from experience as well. My entire LC journey has been a series of ups and downs and in the beginning....I found it very frustrating. Now I understand that this is how my body loses. Down a bit and then bouncing back up again.....and then slowly sliding back down, just to start the cycle again. Net loss for me after one year of LCing? My stats reveal that answer.

Most important is to have patience and persistance. Keep on keeping on and your success will continue!

I'm going to add a graph of my weight loss for you to take a peek at.
