I've read that some suggest subtracting fiber from the carb count since it's indigestible. I don't think SB mentions that. What's the opinion with all of you? Diane :daze:

I think the book doesn't discuss it Diane because we don't really count carbs... at least not in the sense that Atkins or PPP do.

So it isn't really neccessary to track the number of grams of carbs we consume -- A big plus for me as I personally am tired of counting calories, fat, carbs or anything else (can you tell I've been at this a loooong time? LOL!)

As long as we stick to the Low GI foods and limit the starchy carb servings (I find I do best on 2-3 a day) then we don't need to worry about the carb counts.

That being said I do agree with the theory that you can subtract the Fiber count from the carb count. The body doesn't recognize fiber and just passes it thru ...

Perhaps it's good to look at subtracting the fiber counts because then I choose foods that will do less damage to my butt. I've been snacking on almonds and they look pretty good on paper. By subtracting the fiber it leaves 1 carb and 7 protein per serving -- which is about 20 nuts. I'm going from memory here and I'm 55, so don't hold me accountable. LOL Diane
