Hi, Everybody!
This is very frustrating! I once favorite placed a website for a doctor who is, I believe, somewhat controversial because he claims that many doctors miss subclinical hypothyroid cases. I'm pretty sure that he prefers using Armour (sp?) to Synthroid and I think that his name might start with a "B". (How's THAT for a lot to go on?!)
Well, of couse I can no longer find the site and even though I poked around on a few of the major search engines, I can't seem to locate it again.
This isn't just one guy's, little website -- at this site you could provide some information and be given the name of a doctor in your area who was knowledgeable in picking up on and treating subclinical cases. It might even be a 'Foundation', rather than just a personally owned site.

Could this be what you are looking for:
http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/index.htm
Hope it is!
I know what you mean about subclinical hypothyroid. I am a diabetic and last time I visited my doctor, she gave me copies of my lastest tests to hand over to a specialist. Included in those tests was one for TSH (and free T4 too). That sent me into research mode to learn all I could about what it all meant.
My TSH last March was 4.38 ref 0,27-4,20.   Most doctors overlook slightly elevated TSH levels (or high-normal) and only treat >10 if not more. However, as you probably know already, optimal would be > 2,0. A great site about the definition of 'normal' is at : http://www.thyroid.org.au/Information/NormalTSH.html
I added kelp to my supplements and immediately my bG improved. Can't wait for the next tests results when I see my dr on Sept. 18 (she is in fact a very good dr).
Best of luck!
Keep on keeping on!

Thank you both so very much!!! I did more digging around on my own and hit pay dirt -- it was the Broda O. Barnes Foundation that I was looking for ..... BUT! When I went there, the site had drastically changed from my previous visit and it isn't suited for my purpose at all, as far as I can dope out -- I didn't even see the part that helped you locate area doctors. I think it also used to have explicit instruction for self-administering the basal temperature test and other helpful stuff like that. Now it seems more like a site that you can buy information from and that doctors can attend for seminars and whatnot. Well, it's supposed to be nonprofit, so I won't begrudge them too much I guess. But the sites you guys told me about are much more helpful and I greatly appreciate your input. Forgetting that site worked out for the best after all! Thank you again!
