Hi,

When I was lifting weights some years ago, I bought a tub of
creatine monohydrate from GNC (the GNC brand). Because I
stopped lifting soon after, there's still a fair bit of the
stuff left. I've looked over the bottle, and there doesn't
seem to be an expiration date printed, and the stuff looks
still the same, fine white powder, which seems to have formed
into small chunks. But other than that, it looks fine. I've
been thinking of getting back into lifting and was wondering
if the creatine was still safe to eat, since it doesn't seem
to have an expiry date. The bottle was bought about 3
1/2 years ago. Any opinions? TIA

dwight: N-methyl-N-guanylglycine HN:C(NH2)N(CH3)CH2COOH
Isolated from meat extracts commercially.

I think it is pretty stable. Pure chemicals are often more
stable than more "natural" materials. Less chemistry:-) Does
it have a smell? It isn't an ester or an aldehyde.
Expiration dates are about law and rules of thumb and not so
much about science.

I'd use. Well,if I used it. When I lifted weights, I didn't.
