Hey everyone! I'm new to all this and I need advise. I have very low self esteem about myself and I am constantly aware of my weight. Everyone says how pretty I am but I don't feel that way. My weight has been fluctuating since I had my two children. I feel like I am out of control with it. Anytime I Feel excited, sad, and nervous I am comforted by food. I have a great family and nothing to be sad about. I keep saying I need to start my diet and never have enough willpower to do it. I have been from 116 to 150 then to 198 then 175 to 130(my ideal weight after nutri-system) back to 175. It's ruining my life not to mention my marriage. help!

Hi Nicky,
The best thing about Low carbing (apart from the weight loss ;) ) is that it puts you back in control of what you eat.
Thaose dreadful sugar cravings and impulses to pig out just seem to disappear.
I suggest you decide on a plan - there are some links at the side of the page about which plan is right for me, then get hold of the relevant book and give it a darn good read.
Once you know the plan, stock up the cupboards and the fridge with the right foods, and banish all illegal ones ;)
Whe n you start it will be tough going for the first few days while your body detoxes all the sugar, but take it one day at a time and be strong.
This way of eating will help enormously at controlling that emotional eating. You just need to give yourself a chance.
Good luck, and of course we are all here to support and help you.
Lesley

 Your life is a carbon copy of mine. gain, loose, gain again. Now that they have finally decided that what really makes people fat is sugar and carbs we don't have to feel quilty about eating meat, fish, cheese and eggs. This time we will both stick to the program and achive our goal. It's time for you to start loving yourself, whether your fat or thin. You come across as being a very sincere person. I wish you all the best and will continue to monitor your journal. There are so many people on this web site that really can relate to what your saying.
Good Luck

Tanya, how many grams of carbohydrates did you take in a day? Did it depend on which diet you were following or it's the same for all diets?

Hi Nicky, I followed atkins and took in about 20 carbs a day for 2 weeks. Now I am not even sure, just know what I can and can't eat. But remember, I have been low carbing for almost a year, so I kind of know.
