I find all the choice of Forums (fora?!) a but bewildering, so if I have posted this on the wrong one, please forgive me. Thanks to Jaykay for pointing me here with a response to my first question.
Today is a special day for me. I began my diet on July 4th (my 51st birthday) having been diagnosed as an incipient diabetic, and having also been told that my newly diagnosed sleep apnoea could be improved by weight loss. This is probably the ten miilionth diet I have started since I was 10.
Anyway, I got on the scales this morning, and I have lost my first stone (14 lbs). As I have also just come back from 2 weeks in France, I consider this a miracle. And I haven't been hungry.
I thought you might be interested to know that when I went to see my (female) GP and said that I was planning to follow the Atkins diet, I was expecting her to try to dissuade me. But to my surprise she said that she was going to recommend that diet and has been doing for some time! So there is hope.

Hi Lynne

What a great introduction. Congratulations on those 14 pounds gone. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

You must be feeling really chuffed with yourself, especially with the holiday and all. Hold on to that feeling and let it motivate you over the coming months.

Like you I had been on anynumber of diets in the past and really enjoy this way of life. I have now been low carbing for a year and althogh the weight is not coming off as fast as I would like I am really happy with how I feel and the food available does not put any stresses on me. Yes, isn't it great not to feel hungry.

This site is great for information, advice, support and motivation. I recommend that you start a journal. These are great not only for keeping track of your progress, but also for making friends. Look in the Bootcamp/journal section and go to the K-L bit. At the top is a stick which tells you how to start a journal. My own journal is in that section to.

Every success for the future and its great to know that your doctor is behind you in this.
