does anyone have any web links to local clubs. I have been searching through yahoo and google and can not find one good source of sporty club listed by area. To add to my problem im not sure wht sort of club i am intrested in joining, my first thought are towards something like Yoga or pilates.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Most health clubs offer a wide variety of classes including pilates and yoga. You might want to check out these sites to see if there are any near you.
Dragons (http://www.dragons.co.uk/)
Fitness First (http://www.fitnessfirst.com/)
Holmes Place (http://www.holmesplace.co.uk/)
Peak Fitness (http://www.peak-fitness.co.uk/)
Have you tried your local library. They may have lists of classes in the area. Also look at notice boards, sometimes classes are advertised here or in the local newspaper. Does Birmingham have evening/morning/afternoon classes that are usually run on school premesis. These type of classes run on a termly basis and you would only have to pay for the term/year for that class only. Do you have a leisure centre? These often run classes of this sort.
I belong to Dragons health club and beside going to the gym I do a body pump class and aqua fit, both of which are great fun.
Every success.

As Anne suggested, local libraries are the best places to find out about any local events.
Check out the local schools - especially any that are within easy walking distance of you. Or Centres/venues with a large enough hall to hold a class.
In my local area a number of schools run Keep-fit classes in the evenings and/or weekends. Good for once a week hour-long sessions. You can pay for each session, which works out grrreat for me as my initial motivations often falters after a few weeks.
Take care,
