Hello my friends,
I am so glad to see so many signing up for the Labor Day challenge. Here is what I had yestersday.
Breakfast: 2 egg cooked over easy with 2 tbsp. of butter
1 8 oz of coffee (black)
1 sausage patty
Lunch: Water (64 oz.)
Dinner: 1 cup of lettuce with 1/4 cup of cucumber, 1/2 small tomato with 2 tbs. of bacon ranch dressing
1 4 oz grilled steak
Snack: pork rinds( That will be the last pork rinds because the salt and this weather is keeping water retention to bad.) :mad: I love them so much.
Another 64 oz of water.
So far today only my 8 oz of coffee and 28 oz of water. But I am getting ready to fix my 2 scrambled eggs with butter and sausage patty.
I hope everyone have a great low carb day and I will be back this evening to report the rest. Cher I hope you are feeling better.
Wendy, Congratulation on your forthcoming wedding.
I know we can do this with each other help.

Fellow No cheaters here is the recipe I talked about this morning.

BEEF AND PECAN SPREAD SERVES 10
1/2 cup pecans, unsalted-chopped
1 teaspoon butter
8 oz. chipped beef (we used the carl budding)
1 Tablespoon heavy cream
1/4 cup green pepper-chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup sour cream
8ozs. cream cheese
2 teaspoons onion flakes

Saute the pecans in butter until warm. Set aside. Cut the chipped beef into small pieces. Blend the remaining ingredients in a food processor.
Place mixture in a glass pie pan and sprinkle with pecans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly.

Per serving:
2.5 grams Carbs.
0.3 grams fiber
159.4 calories
14.0 grams fat
7.0 grams protein

serve with celery or pork rinds, we did celery it was wonderful, but another thing would be cucumbers. As you can see the calorie count is high as well as the fat. hope ya'all enjoy. joan

Day 2, and NO cheating......yippeeee

Yesterday, had a wonderful recipe myself, Stuffed Venison steak. Stuffed with garlic, basil, and smoked gouda cheese, with dijon sauce over it. Melted in my mouth, just wonderful.

Today, had my protein shake made with cream and water, for lunch: turkey and chicken salad, dinner tonight will consist of a smoked turkey leg (not the whole thing) and tossed salad with blue cheese dressing.

Looking forward to a weight loss for the month of August......

Bye all,

Wow...day 2 and it's going really, really well. I think it's just knowing that I made a commitment to everyone.
:D :D :D

Yippee…there are so many of us making this commitment…it’s so cool. I don’t feel alone at all (LOL). Well…I’ve never felt alone with this bb…you gals/guys keep me on track. I’m sure that this 62 pound weight loss was inspired by all of you! Ok…for food… I had an omelet with a few strawberries for breakfast…2 chicken tacos (without the shells…of course…lol) for lunch …Turkey breast and 2 LC almond cookies for a snack and… I’m getting ready to have shrimp and Asparagus for dinner. I need to go log all of this in Fitday…Yea…I’m on target and feeling really good.

Sally…wow…that’s so cool (the ‘didn’t cheat" post. I second that…I didn’t cheat and I’m so happy about that . OK…so, I know we can do this too…now, if only I can join you and Marlaine in the exercising (I’ve made the commitment…so, I know I’ll get with it soon). Congratulations on getting your walk in. You’ve done an awesome job.

Donna…congratulations on that pound….WTG. even if it was one that you lost before…at least it’s gone now….and you’re still doing great. I think that when I reach 148 (hey,….I actually think that’s possible now…LOL)…I will dance and sing from some tall building. BTW… I’ve heard a lot of people say that the heat/humidity makes them hold onto water weight….so, hopefully you’ll have a pleasant surprise by labor day (when it cools off). By the way…thanks to everyone who’s taking the challenge with us…the support is just awesome.
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Joan….yea…congratulations on day 2…and, Yummy… thanks for that hot dip recipe…that sounds really good. Sorry to hear that your mom is still in the hospital… I was really hoping that she was doing better by now. I’ll keep praying for her….and like Cody (Donna’s nephew)…I’ll light a candle for her tonight.

Hi Heather…I’m so glad you found the link (thanks Sally), I was worried about that. The water question is a good one. I think it gets easier (and you start to crave it more) after a while…. I didn’t like drinking it in the beginning either… I had to force myself! Maybe someone else will have some suggestions on how to Joanize (Drink a lot of water like Joan…LOL)….Joan…any suggestions???? But, what I do know is that the water really helps us lose weight…so, keep trying….and, I’m glad you’re with us on this challenge.

Tanyaskees…You’re in…Yea….we’re glad to have you here. We’re just checking in daily but, some people are also leaving their food…that’s a great ideal. But, that’s up to you! So, let us know how you’re doing.

Linda…congratulations…you’re doing an awesome job. P.S. how’s your exercising going? I really need to catch up with everyone’s journal. I think I’ll do that tonight after I take a bubble bath.

Marlaine… it’s so great to see you here…I’ve got to run to your journal to see how you’re doing…but, I KNOW you’re doing great. Also, looks like a great group for the exercise challenge. You’ve inspired me (well…you always inspire me).

Sunshine2…I’m so glad that you’re checking into this thread. I’ve missed you. Stuffed Venison steak…that sounds so good…Yum. I wonder if I could do something like that with Ahi Tuna??? So, are you home for a while…or, do we have another trip planned???

Sheila….yea…we’re all doing this. Ok…going to the movies (with the smell of popcorn) is a little tough. That’s when I buy the huge diet cokes (bad…cher…I know). But, it’s a lot better than the alternate. OK…I’m not endorsing diet cokes…..everyone should drink water !

Carol…I’m so glad that you found this thread. And, wow…congratulations on being back in the 170’s and on not cheating in 8 days. I know we can so this together…labor day will be here so fast. 200 bales of hay…I’m pretty sure that counts in Marlaine’s Cardio exercise challenge…way to go! Wow… I would love to lose 8 pounds by labor day….but, I’ll be happy with whatever my body is willing to give me (it’s so darn stubborn at times). Actually, I’m just pretty grateful that I can fit into size 10’s again. There was a time when I didn’t think I could do this….and just think...the middle of August will be one year. Now, it just seems like a way of life.

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

OK…off to take a bubble bath…it was so fun to see everyone here

Tanya, I just wanted to welcome you to the group, you have the sweetest smile and your a good ole Southern Gal.

Okay the water thing, well to be honest that is why I drink so much early in the day. I find having it cold works best for me, now I have heard of Wal-mart (WALLY WORLD) does have flavored water with no calories, no caffine and sweetened with splenda. I still have to stay with just plan old H2O, it will come easier to drink once your body get used to it. Even tho you do spend a lot of time in the bathroom.

You are all doing awesome! I envy those of you who exercise...I have a hard time fitting it in my day...I have been busy with home renovations....tiling the bathroom floor today...only 4 tiles left to cut! Yee haw! Have guests from Germany arriving on Monday...and no bathroom yet! Yikes!

I just found out that my DH's 25th class reunion is being held on Labor Day weekend....even more incentive to not cheat....you guys are great!
We can do this together!
Can't wait to see what our total losses equal.
That flavored water is called Fruit 2 O in our parts and it is really good....I have about 1 a day and water the rest...it is a nice treat and no aspartame....just Splenda...I haven't noticed any stalls or anything when I drink it, and it tastes good...even my skinny DH thinks it is pretty good..and he never drinks diet anything!
Meat eatin and no cheatin!

Shrimp and veggies for lunch.
Macademian nuts for a snack.
Atkins shake for a snack w/cream.
2 hard boiled eggs and another protien shake for dinner.

The bad thing is I had 3 cups of coffee today. Just can't seem to give that up.

Thanks Sally, I love my coffee. But I do have a confession, I use creamer, non-dairy kind, just can't stop, it makes it so creammy and good. Oh h**l, now you all know my secret....LOL.

I am so glad to see all of us doing so well. I weigh myself today and I am 151 lbs. So this water retention is going down finally. I had only 4 carbs yestersday. I drank 128 oz of water, 2 cups of coffee and 2 cup of decaffinated tea. I fix a large roast in the slow cooker and couldn't quit eating meat. Joan here is a list for fiberous foods that I found when I started Atkins.
Yes, you can deduct the fiber grams from your carb counts. Pretty much all the plan authors now agree on that point. I do believe it is useful to complete an Atkins induction period before implementing this practice, however, and as with anything, YMMV (Your mileage may vary).

THE ABC'S OF HIGH FIBER
by Andrea Boyack (used with permission)
Asparagus (8 spears=2g fiber/3g carbs)

Broccoli (1cup=5g fiber/3g net carbs)

Cauliflower (1cup=3g fiber/2g net carbs)

Dill Pickle (1=0.5g fiber/2g net carbs)

Eggplant (1cup=2.5g fiber/4g net carbs)

Fancy salad (1cup=1.5g fiber/1g net carbs)

Green beans (1cup=4g fiber/3g net carbs)

Hazlenuts (1oz=1.5g fiber/1g net carbs)

It's Celery (2 sticks=1g fiber/2g carbs)

Just Some Strawberries (1/2 cup=1.5g fiber/3.5g net carbs)

Kiwifruit (1=2.5g fiber/8.5g net carbs)

Lettuce (2 cups=1.5g fiber/1.5g net carbs)

Mushrooms (1cup=3g fiber/5g net carbs)

Nuts, mixed (1/2 cup=6g fiber/11g net carbs)

Olives (10 olives=1g fiber/1g net carbs)

Peanuts (1/2 cup = 6g fiber/5.5g net carbs)

Queenly Macadamia Nuts (1/2 cup=5g fiber/3.5g net carbs)

Raspberries (1/2 cup=4g fiber/3g net carbs)

Spinach (1cup cooked=4g fiber/2g net carbs)

Tomato (1=1.5g fiber/4g net carbs)

Ultimate Bamboo Shoots (1 cup=1g fiber/1g net carbs)

Very Festive Cranberries (1/2 cup=2g fiber/4g net carbs)

Walnuts (1/2 cup=4g fiber/4g net carbs)

Xtra Pecans (1 cup=10g fiber/4g net carbs)

Yummy Guacamole (1/2 avocado=5g fiber/2.5g net carbs)

Zucchini (1/2 cup=1g fiber/2g net carbs)
I hope this help get more fiber in your diet. I no I need to get more in my again.
Carol, I see you are still busy with repairs and I know you well be done before Monday. Exercise, girl you are getting tons with farm chores and home repairs. I am proud of you.
Tonya and Princesspp, I am glad I can have coffee too. It really help me get the day started right. I drink mine black but if I have dessert I use DeVinc's syrup and creamer and I could drink a pot full .
Everyone have a great low carb day and may the whoosh fairy come to all of us.

I'm all confused... cause I'm still counting my Atkins induction days and now this. Is this day 4? I started on Sunday or was it Monday? Is confusion a part of Atkins??!!!

The important part is I've not cheated! I'm also down one pound. :hyper: So... I'm a happy camper. But, I did make my DH hide my scale from me. He has been asked not to give it back until Friday... then he must promptly hide it again!!! It's my new pact with myself not weigh but once per week.

Brief rundown of foods yesterday:
B: 2 Eggs 3 slices bacon
L: 1 slice ATKINS low-carb bread (3 carbs), with Turkey/Cheese
D: Italian Sausage and Mozzarella, Mushrooms, (fake like pizza)
S: Jello with Whipped Cream

Today: So far 1 Slim Jim Beef Jerky, (about to eat breakfast).

Good Luck to all!

Thanks DonnaJ for the info that is a great help. I know I am not eating enough veggies. I usually only have veggies at dinner and that is about 1 1/2 cups salad.
I also am having my coffee in the morning but what Ihave been doing is mixing real coffee with decaf and each time I fill the coffee canister I add more decaf trying to get off the caffeine.
Have a great day Donna and it is wonderful doing this NO CHEAT TILL LABOR DAY together, Cher had a great ideal. Love ya much joan

I didn't have Breakfast, because i had an Early Doctors appointment and had to run some errands, but for Lunch I had a Real Nice Salad and 1 left over Chicken Leg Quarter. All total I had around 5 carbs today. Right now i'm still pretty full so if I get Hungry tonight I might have 2 oz of Cheese. So Far I've been sleeping better and feeling better.

Still holding strong with the rest of the group. My naturally skinny fiance (annoying, but we love him) brought home bakery cookies last night. They smelled heavenly, but I did not indulge because of the committment to this group and myself! Thank you all!!!!

My wedding shower is scheduled next Saturday, the 17th. I would love to be out of the 60's by then! That would be the best gift of all! I need to start walking some more, also.

So, Sally, like you, I'm chasing the '50's!!!!

For lunch yesterday I could not find anything I really wanted so I make myself two eggs and some canadian bacon.
For dinner I had a delicious hamburger steak and a salad with some mayo and a squrt of 3-cheese dressing, yummmmmmmy. Drank over a gallon of water yesterday and the weather is still nice and cool, yes!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I came close this morning to cheating, when I walked into work and smelled the fresh baked sausage rolls, in homemade bread.....but, I opted for the protein shake and now I feel good. I didn't cheat, I kept it together and said "no thank you". :spin: Feels good not to cheat!

I'm not sure if I'm losing, but I sure feel like it. I am staying off the scales until the end of the month, and just focussing on eating right, no cheating, and trying to get back to my exercise program.

Greg ... Welcome to the group ... normally Cher would be here .. but she must be feeling under the weather again .. :( poor girl .. :(
:lol: Lol ... on the after Labor day Cheat .. no .. this originally started out as a No Cheat Til Christmas ... but that was scary .. so it then turned into smaller time frames .. :D and she came up with "No Cheat Til Labor Day" ... which was less scarey ....!!!!

Sounds like you're doing wonderfully ... just keep up the excellent work !!!!! :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunshine... Congrats on the bypassing of the Sausage rolls in HM bread ... and sticking to your protien shake ... that must've been tough ... but you can pat yourself on the back and give yourself an "Attagirl" .... :D :yay:.... Good job!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vicki ... You and those 20 carbs .. hmmmmm??? :D tell me more .. you really are catching my interest ... :daze: ... :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tanya ... Hmm ... and Atkins bar ... obviously those are low carb .. how are their tastes .. I've seen them in the store, and have often wanted to pick up a couple just for that "sweet tooth" kill ... I usually grab "Carb Solutions" .. but they really confuse me :confused: .. because in one store they average 14 g carbs, and in other stores .. what I think is the same thing .. they average 2 g carbs ???? I always thought I picked up the same ones in either place .. but since I got stuck once, I REALLY closely read the labels on them .. and I usually don't have them often, but they (especially the peanut butter chocolate) are really rich and really take care of the sweet tooth the few times I get one!!!
But you're doing great .. Keep it up ... :yay:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joan ... My sweet Joan ... I'm gonna be really surprised if the scale doesn't show a difference by the time you get to your weigh in ... you're losing your belly ... this is wonderful!!!!:D and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!!!:D

3 cheese dressing???? hmmmmm??? that sounds really yummy??? Who makes it??? :D Or is it a private Louisville secret :lol: ...
You're doing great .. and I still love your new lease on life lately .. Keep it up!!!!:yay:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wendy ... Chase me if you can!!!!!:lol: ... see ya in the 150's ... :D Don't worry .. I've got a sweet happy hubby that does that too .. well .. he's no longer naturally thin .. but he loves junk food, and brings it in all the time .. and then offers some to me .. he's been laying low, because I told him I'm involved in this challenge !!! So he's been better .. but he still brings that stuff into the house .. (but like ya said .. gotta love 'em :heart: ) and after 25 years .. don't want to start training all over again!!! ;)
Wedding shower huh ??? Can I come too!!!!???? :wave: .. me too meeee tooo!!!!! :wiggle: Hope you have areally good time!!!!:D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Richard... My on line sweetie!!! Sounds like you're doing really good .. I think you'll make your Mini-goal by labor day ... Eat when you're hungry .. hmmmm??? what a concept ... :lol: ... Keep it up sweetie!!!!!:heart:

Hi Sally
I learned the 20g carbs for NAT. She is always telling people that since a lot of people believe 0 carbs is best. I am a true believer. A few times I ate too few carbs and felt like doo doo. If you read the ATkins book, we NEED 20g of carbs at minimum. You need carbs for processes in teh body-they should mostly come from veggies, fruits and salads. If you dont eat enough carbs (ie 7g) you are going to feel like crap, no energy and your body is going to "shut down" because it will try and conserve everything because it thinks it is starving. Just my 2 cents. Ill look for Nats post on it. I know we are all trying to lose weight, but we need at LEAST 20g carbs a day!

You are kicking some LC booty my friend! Keep up the good work.

Day 5 and I haven’t cheated…Yea

Sorry for not checking in the past 2 days…I had 2 days of relentless pain…but, I was thinking about this challenge and was determined not to cheat…and the payoff…is… I woke up at 166.5 WOW!..

Richard…I’m so glad that you checked in…you’re such a part of the family…is that a new picture in your avatar? …it’s very cool! P.S., that omelet looks pretty good. I think I’ll make one this morning. P.S…you’ve only got 29 pounds to go to be out of the 500’s…I know you can make it. You’ve done such an awesome job! Yea Richard!

Linda…I consider 34 carbs as a really good day…sometimes I’m at 40 or 45…I stretch it a little…cause I want my body to adjust to eating the carbs. But, it’s mostly through fruits (at least one in the morning) and a lot of veggies.

Wendy…it sounds like your ding great. I can’t believe you woke up at 4am…wow…that must be why I’m waking up earlier (being squeaky clean with out food). Congratulations on not indulging on those bakery goods last night. I think that’s when it’s really hard…when they’re brought into the home. But, you did it…Way To Go! Oh…how fun…a wedding shower on the 17th…I know you’re going to feel great on that day.

Tanya…wow …52 pounds…that’s pretty awesome! I know you can make it through that Chinese lunch today…I have so much faith that you’ll do really well! P.S., Welcome to the "no cheat" thread it sounds like you’re already doing great…but, we love the fact that you’re here anyway (cool). That jazzercise must be a great way to get exercise in…how fun. Have you ever made Flaxmeal pancakes? I made them last week and yum they were pretty good. P.S. congratulations on that 120 ounces of water…WTG!

Joan…We’re on Day 5………We CAN do this! I was reading your suggestions on water and I realized that adding a lot of ice makes it easier for me to drink….I wonder if that’s just because it’s colder or, if there’s something in the ice I’m craving…humm. Congratulations on your exercising routine…you and Marlaine are so good at that. I will start exercising soon. Last few days have been too painful…but, the 3 days of cardio…I know I can do that.. Humm…Fiber…I know veggies have a lot of fiber…but, what else…maybe Sally or marlaine can help with that one. You could add a fiber supplement?

Hulagirl….welcome to this group and wow congratulations on that 3 pound whoosh. How inspirational for all of us who are not cheating…lol
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Sally…160….wow! You’re awesome. I know you know this but…I just love your posts…they are always sooooo cute. you’ve done such a great job of leading everyone here…without your enthusiasm and computer skills I don’t know what we’d do. I really like the ideal of an accumulated weight in to see how we’ve done. I don’t want anyone to feel scared about that…but, all of those who would love to participate…wouldn’t that be cool. Wow…spagetti squash hashbrowns…that sounds pretty good. P.S…. I’m totally so proud of you too!
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Marlaine…isn’t it cool that we can have our LC treats…and they’re really good. I know you can break that stall (plus…it’s just probably all those muscles coming out). You’ve done such an awesome job…remember when we were in the 190’s. Wow! I’m just constantly amazed at how this program works.

VictoriaT….Hi and welcome to this thread (sorry I was a little late welcoming you). But, I’m so excited that you’re with us on this adventure. Yea for Victoria for joining the "no cheat" challenge………verrrrrrrrrry cool!

Heather…..so glad you’re still with us on this no cheat challenge…woo hoo way to go!
Congratulations on that 2 pounds that went away…doesn’t that feel great! And, that’s a great idea….having DH hide the scale until Friday! P.S. congratulations on not giving into the popcorn at the movies…you’re doing great!
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Corrie…yea…glad you found this link…we’re glad you’re with us…welcome (and thanks again Sally for all your links so people can find us).

Carol…I also envy all of those who are exercising cause they get the benefit of well toned muscles as well as fat loss. However, I am going to start slowly again…either walking or doing the bike just to get in those 3 days of cardio. I know I can do this…I know I can, I know I can! Oh how fun, your DH’s 25th class reunion…that is a good reason not to cheat.

DonnaJ…glad to hear that the water retention is still going away (Yea Donna). Thanks for putting up the list of fiber foods…Asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower and nuts are some of my favorites). I might be getting more grams of fiber than I thought. I need to watch how I’m doing in Fitday.

Raw Sienna…I’m so glad that you found the link, and that you’re with us.

Lessara…….we can do this…congratulation on making the 4 days…if you can make it 4 days you can make it the 5th (today) woo hoo…we are doing great! Welcome to the group.

Sunshine2…yea…4 days of no cheating..isn’t that awesome…and now, day 5…we’re almost at one week. We can do this. Congratulations on passing up the goodies at the office…WTG Sunshine!

Greg….yum…thanks for the recipe…I think I’ll try it with Shrimp…thanks for leaving it here. I’m glad you’re joining the thread AND that you haven’t cheated at all. My thoughts (personally) is not to cheat on labor day either…lol…but, I just wanted to see all of us get through 30 days without cheating so we could feel good about ourselves…and maybe even see the whoosh fairy a few times.

Sheila…yea…we’re all on day 5. Don’t worry, the whoosh fairy will be back very soon. Remember you and Richard had her for a long time…lol…she’ll be back really soon…cause you’re being so good!

Just checking in to say......I'm still NO CHEAT!

Have been planning and eating my 5-6 meals a day and cleaning up my act as far as 'nibbling' in the evenings! Continuing to do my exercise too....so Cher....You could be correct that the lack of loss has to do with building muscle. My jeans are getting looser and looser and I love the way my shoulders and arms are looking these days!

:cheer: for each and everyone of us that is CHEAT FREE!!

Welcome back Sher, sorry you're not feeling good. How do you make flax o meal pancakes? It sounds really good.
I really do love jezzercise, it is a lot of fun and a very good workout.

I have one day a week off, and I don't follow any real set plan. SOOOOO, having said that, I'm here to help cheer you all on, watch your progress, and be motivated by you!

Ya'll are doing SOOOOOOOOO great! There's going to be a Whoosh Fairy convention on the 2nd of September. I'll bring the cam corder...ya'll bring the snacks!!!

Day 6 and 24 more days to go...........Then we will all see what wonderful progress we've made by not cheating!

I haven't weighed since I started the challenge, but will at the end of the month. I'm looking forward to it, and so excited, I know I'm losing, my clothes are starting to get baggy, you gotta love that.

I dont count carbs either, but I just watch what I eat, here is an example of my menu:
Breakfast, protein shake (low carb, the container says 2G)
Lunch, chicken or turkey patty, a few celery sticks
snack - energy drink, has around 6 Carbs
dinner - last night had 3 cups of salad with blue cheese dressing

And thats all I had, not sure how many calories, or how many carbs, but It seems to work. I'm not hungry and I enjoy my menu.

You No Cheaten' guys & girls, have a great low carbing day.......

Day 6 – no cheat…wow! We’re doing it…

Victoria…thanks for the congratulations on the whoosh…that was very cool! I’m so happy to have that 1.5 pounds off. It sound funny, but, that the equivalent of 1.5 pounds of butter!

Marlaine…isn’t it cool to know that your jeans are getting looser and that you love the way your shoulders and arms look (I want to say that too). The exercise challenge is starting soon…so, I need to get myself in gear….Christmas will be awesome time of the year – we will be so skinny.

Sally…I just love you…you’re always so sweet. Thanks so much for placing all those links to this site…I’m such a computer newbie…I haven’t figured out any of the fancy stuff yet. I’m so excited that you’ve seen a benefit from 6 days of NOT cheating. OK…so, has Richard told anyone about his whoosh….has he kept it a secret or, Sally did he tell you. Inquiring minds would just love to know. We’re so excited about his Whoosh. Also, your post about making it to Day 5 was just so cute…I loved it…that’s how happy I feel!

Tanya, Good luck with the Indian lunch….tandori chicken sounds pretty safe to me. OK…. Flax-O-meal pancakes…

I started with the LowCarb Success Pancake and Waffle mix – Banana Walnut. – Found at local health food store.

Combine 1-1/2 cups of pancake mix with 2 Tbsp. Of oil, 2 eggs and approximately 1 1/2 to 2 cups of water. (for richer flavor you may substitute cream for a portion of the water.

I added blueberries (Yumm)…

Mix and pour immediately onto greased hot skillet or waffle iron.

I made these for friends and they really liked them. I feel so healthy now

Carol… I’m with you…I WILL NOT CHEAT. I wanted to last night :LOL:but, I was really good. What is it about losing weight….usually, when I’ve seen a drop in the scale, I feel like cheating…how weird is that. But, I’m determined to make it – with all of you – till labor day!

Richard…..I like omelets too….what is this about Shila…they make her sick! I just love them. I had an Island favorite omelet today and it had avocados …yum! Those pork rind thingies…I haven’t been able to eat them yet. But, some people use them to coat fish or chicken in and then fry them…that sounds pretty good to me. OK….I’m just waiting to hear how your whoosh went??????????????

Linda …yey! Another day of not cheating…we’re doing great! How’s the exercising going?

Joan…hey, I’m a LOSER too :LOL: It’s Day 6 and I’m feeling great about the challenge and all the commitment on this site. It’s makes it easier to get through the rough times.

Oh you just reminded me…I need to Joanize today!

Pepperoni…oh you and Sally have the cutest pictures from Sienna….they are just adorable. I’m with you…all the no CHEATERS are looking good…just wait till Labor Day!

Greg…wow you’re just doing great…congratulations on getting your morning workout in…that’s awesome. Did you see Marlaine’s thread on exercise? We’re committing to three days of cardio a week (ouch, ouch).

Raw Sienna….your little pictures are so cute and they’re all over the site. I love Sally’s and Pepperoni’s…they are so appropriate for their names. OK…Sienna this is up to you…but, If your program allows you to have one open day…then, you’re not cheating…it’s OK. I know we all have slightly different programs…but, I’d love to have you stay here with us…NO PRESSURE…but, STAY (LOL). We Love You Here…your posts keep us happy!
:rheart:

Sunshine…we’re on day 6 – doesn’t that just feel great :spin: I happy to hear that your pants are feeling baggy….
:yay: :yay: :cheer: :cheer: :yay: :yay: :cheer: :cheer:
:yay: :yay: :cheer: :cheer: :yay: :yay: :cheer: :cheer:

OK…I weighed the other day but, I sort of like the idea of not weighing until labor day. I think our whooshes will seem more sizable at that time.

Star…I think you’re joining us for the challenge so I hope that you’re able to find the link. Just wanted to welcome you…it’s so cool that we’ve made it this far! I’ll try to find your journal today!

Have a great LC "NO CHEAT Day" everyone

Hi Cher. Sheila told me she likes Eggs, but only with a Dab of Catsup on them. She can't stand to see Cheese on it. Go Figure.

She told me some of the things she does eat for Breakfast and I wish I had what she has.

today I had a 4 Egg Omlete 3 or 4 Carbs

Crushed Pork Rinds in the Omlete 0 Carbs

8 Slices of Bacon 0 Carbs

Muti Vitamin

30 oz of Water.

2 1 liter Diet Pepsi's

Tonight I'll have another 80 oz of Water.

Maybe that will help Flush out the Diet Pepsi.

Thanks guys, I think I will STAY!!!

I need this to keep me focused.

I just knew that glucose is another big fat word for
SUGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I wanted to be "legal".

I didn't starve myself--that's not why the low bpressure
happened, it's just the way I am. Sometimes it bothers
me more than other times. It has been a LONG time
since it has been this bad, though.

The good news is the dr. said that I am very healthy!!
My grandma that had low bpressure passed away last
October at going on 102!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for all the concern!! Sheila

Hello,

I just want to say that this thread has saved me many times this week and has been a source of support and inspiration...many many thanks to all.

but I had a whooshy this morning....2 lbs!

I hope the whooshy was from my tushy!

I also walked last night...just a mile, but it's the start of a habit, I hope. My sweetie came with me and it's a very nice walkway along the Long Island Sound.

Everyone have a great weekend!

I agree with Cher I don't think having a glucose IV stuck in you by medical professionals is a means of cheating. I am not saying you should make it a daily occurrence, and if you did I would begin to think you were cheating.

For the people reading this besides sheila, it is only my maccab sense of humor she likes so well.

I really don't believe anybody would be addicted to sugar enough to get glucose IV's daily.

Well the no cheat thing is going well for me. I am not experiencing any cravings. My exercise is going well and I am happy at my progress. I did not move the scale this week I think that is fine.

I did wear size 36 shorts out last night and didn't look to bad. So I guess my body is readjusting. My legs are looking good nice and defined, but my torso from the waist to my chest I can't seem to do anything with, but this has always been the case. I will just keep at it day by day. I am confident that I will triumph over this (as dw say's bloating) fat.

Well I sure didn't mean to be so long winded. (unless you ask VictoriaT) she always thinks I am long winded, but spouses say that about each other all the time. will write later.

congratulation Wendrew on the whoosh I love that feeling of stepping on the scale and it goes down.

So far today I'm doing Great.

3 Eggs over Easy with a Splash of Hot Sauce.

5 Sausage Patties "Cooked to Perfection"

1 small Tomato "With a Spoonful of Creamy Itailion Dressing"

50 oz of Water "Fixing to have 44 oz's more"

For dinner I think I'll have some Chicken Wings "Tossed in Hot Sauce and Butter"

I think Chris "You Ice Cream Eating Sweetie" and Linda " I can Smell that Bread Baking all the way here.lol" if you two didn't just go out and Pig Out all Day then I see no reason you don't stay with us.

I think you'll just be fine.

I have a BIG Tester coming up on the 24. It's my sisters 60 B/Day and were going to a nice Resturant to Celebrate. Then go to my Niece's "Her Daughter Tammy" for Dessert. I know I'll be fine at the Resturant. I plan on ordering Steark or Chicken and a Salad. Now for Desert. I'm going to get the Peanut Butter Recipe from Sally and take that to my Nieces House. Sally said each Slice is 4 Carbs.

So all in all I should be fine.

Keep On Whooshing Everybody.

Hey Gang!

I've been on the "NO CHEAT TIL LABOR DAY" wagon since I believe your day 2...but I didn't realize there was a thread about it until Cher told me, so I'M HERE!

Cher, I just wanted to say that I've gone through the posts here and it is soooooooooo BEAUTIFUL that you take the time to personally encourage everyone here regularly!!! That is just so selfless of you!!! What a wonderful person you are!

SOOOOO!!! HERE I AM NOT CHEATING!!! I've been SOOO good! Not a single slip up! And I feel really strong! Almost TOO strong...I have to force myself to keep my calories up! I had forgotten how much of an appetite suppressant this WOE is when you are doing it right!!!

I'm soo proud of everyone here!!! KEEP IT UP GANG!!!! WE ARE AWESOME!!!!

Peace,

Hi Everyone,

It is important to remember that we are human....not perfect....that said, I hope everyone still stays with us!

I can't believe we are at day 8 already....I have been so busy fixin' up the bathroom, I forgot to cheat! LOL.....(It came out pretty good...yay!)

The company is arriving this afternoon.....can I make it for 3 weeks with 3 guests (2 of them junk food lovin' 12 year olds?)

You bet I can! Because I have all of you guys for support!!! I probably won't check in as often, but I will be thinking about all of you!

Take care my friends...we can (and will) do this together!

Pepperoni I would definetly call it a whoosh I guess we are all doing pretty good.

Ranger I wouldn't buy the 12 year old snacks I bet a nice bag of porkrinds and hot sauce would be just fine or some s/f jolly rancher green apple/watermelon/strawberry jello would work or how about some _ _ _ _ berries and whip cream yum yum. I bet they wouldn't even know they were eating low carb. and What 12 year old can resist watermelon in the summer.

had the stuffed avacado's yesterday for dinner man where they good. I tell you I amaze myself sometimes.

had pork steak and salad for breakfast this morning.

I am glad to see us all hanging in there.

Nice to see the activity that's been floating around in here for the last couple of days ... Sorry I really didn't sign in yesterday, but I was a bit under the weather .... but the good news is ..........

I'm Baaaaa-aaaaacccckkkkkkkkk

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shiela ... Good choice to stay on ... this was out of your hands, and nobody here is condemning you for it ... I'm glad you decided to stick around!!!
Wendy ... Congrats on your whoosh - Oh Oh ... looks like I might have some friendly competition here :lol: WTG Wendy ... keep on whooshing!!!!!
Greg ...Sounds like you're coming along SUPERLY!!! Keep it up!!!
Marlaine ...WTG on no cheating - You may not be whooshing, but I bet you're definately defining!!!!
Vicki ... Ooooooooo A Massage ... how nice and relaxing!!!!
Linda ...We are only human -- it's your choice whether to drop or not, but as far as I'm concerned; just get back on the bike ans continue peddling ... and I'm sure many of the others will agree ... like Cher said .. we're not looking for perfection ...
But thank you for your honesty ... I hope you stick around ... :D
Joan ...Isn't this challenge fun?? I'll be very surprised if your scale doesn't help out by the end of August ...I give you alot of credit for holding out playing with your scale ....
Chris ...Like I said to Linda ...
We are all only human -- You admitted it, and I'm sure nobody's beating you up as bad as you are... Climb back on the bike and start peddling again ... It's your choice - this is supposed to be fun, but also maybe alittle learning curve thrown in ... :D
Tanya ...WTG on no cheats yet ... Just one question .. do you like crab legs??? :lol:
Starchile ...Wecome - and hope you stick around -- the more the merrier, and WTG on not cheating even before you were aware of this thread!!!!
Ranger (Carol) ...:lol: LOL on forgetting to cheat, but the question of the day is - Is the bathroom ready??? or did you give your guests keys, as well as keys to the car (since there aren't any neighborhood gas stations ... :lol: )... You ARE absolutely right .. .you CAN make it for 3 weeks - They are guests, they have what you provide .. and I love the ideas that Greg came up with like the berries and whip cream ... :yum:
Pepperoni ...ANYTHING counts ... Congrats on your Miniwhooshe ... Keep it up!!!!!
KTeaki ... Welcome and join the fun!!! This is open to ANYONE .. .You're already doing DYNOMITE :yay: .. .Keep it up!!!! and keep us posted!!!!
Richard ...Excellent Job .. (and I'm gonna get you for putting that AWESOME picture of peanut butter pie in my journal :yum: ) Tomorrows experiment day!!!!!!
Still doing Great on the No cheat. I'm really surprised it hasn't been all that hard.
Today was a Challenge. My Power went out this morning. A Transformer Exploded. It was out for around 7 hours.
So I took off at 11 this morning but knew I had to stop to get something to eat. I was getting Real Hungery and kind of Faint.
So I stopped at the Meat Market and got some Corn Beef and Smoked Chedder Cheese.
I went to a near by Park along the Mississippi River and parked under a Shade Tree got out my 5 inch TV and turned on Days Of Our Lives. and had 3 or 4 Beef and Cheese Rollups and Drank a Diet Pepsi.
Actually it was kind of fun. A Mini Picnic. So today i had all Total
8 slices of Beef 16 oz
8 slices of Cheese 6 oz
1 Liter of Diet Pepsi.
50 oz of water.
Okay beginning day #10. I am trying to stay away from the scales also until Labor Day. At exercise yesterday morning a couple of the ladies ask if I was losing weight they said I looked thinner, we can only hope.
Bob and I are driving down to see my Mother today we have to see for ourselves how she is, sometime you don't get all the infor over the phone.
Richard, great choices and hopefully the electricity was back on by the time you returned home. Okay you said something about drinking diet pepsi, is is caffeine free?? Or do you drink the caffeine?? Just wondering. I drink Diet Rite. Have gotten on this kick lately of have heavy cream and splenda in my coffee, now what is that all about, I have always been a black coffee drinker.
My sister from MO gave me a set of Suzanne Somers video and audio tapes and she also preaches no sugar no white flour,but she does say it is okay to eat fruit, except banannas. Anyway I am not planning on jumping off Atkins but I do find her interesting.
Okay need to run, everyone have a great day. Tanya, I love your WF, that Sinnea she is way toooo sweet. Love to all joan
Hello everyone, well so far my second day of no cheating and Starchile we have donuts in the building and after the big boardmeeting the donuts will come to my office. Our office gets all the carbage leftovers, I should feel so privilaged. I don't know if anyone else happened to see a documentary on this morning on A&E. The documentary was entitled Supersized Generation, it was talking about the epidemic of our oversized youth. This was very interesting to me, that had an 11 year old girl who is a typeII diabetic and I was screaming at the tv give up the carbs.
Well this thread really does grow quick, but I love being able to take small breaks and come to the tread and get inspiration.
Mrs. Louisville KY it is nice to know that someone near me is doing Atkins it seems like I am the only one in Bowling Green that takes it as WOE. Starchile I haven't been posting but I realize that I need this forum I need to come somewhere, where people share the same ideas and struggles it helps so much. Talk to you guys later.
Good to be here! I've decided NOT to weigh myself til Labor Day, as some others here have decided.
I'd like to say that you all have lovely pictures in your signatures and by your names. :)
Tesia, I'm glad you were able to stay upwind of those dirty-dawg-donuts. They tormented you briefly, but you wished 'em into the corn field forever! :lol:
And we will ALL continue opening cans of WHOOP BOOTY!
Came in at 30 carbs today ... way higher than I like, but I was also enjoying some desserts today (leftover Chocolate Peanut butter pie (funny story in my journal - so I don't have to worry about that anymore)and Strawberry Margarita cake...) :yum:
But I still haven't cheated ... have been close the last couple of days, but boredom didn't catch me!!!!
Talk later all ... looks like everyone is doing smashing!!!!
Love ya all!!:rheart:
Well, I still have not cheated! Tomorrow, however, I go for a tryout session at Curves for Women and if they want to weigh me I will not say no....as long as I am not weighing myself.
Otherwise I am doing great this month and always love doing a "challenge."
Still no cheating for me, either!! I haven't been posting
here, but have been reading this thread every day.
Because the CAD plan is so much more lenient than the
Atkin's plan I feel every day like I am cheating.
But I am NOT!
From the morning of the glucose bag until this morning
there has been a 3 pound gain. So I changed my stats
to keep me honest. It wasn't nearly as bad as I feared--
the day after the IV I felt so puffy and HUGE. So I will
just begin again, with this 3 pound gain and not beat
myself up over it.
Day 12….and I didn’t cheat…and I was so hungry last night. There is a definite correlation between being prepared with the "legal" foods and snacks…and NOT cheating. Last night was a little tough…but, I made it through, just because everyone is doing so well. It taught me too things….don’t eat too little or hunger will exist (lol) and be prepared with legal foods. So, this is a learning experience4. Oh of course….I knew that before but, How quickly I forget!
DonnaJ…..147…..WOW…will I ever see that number on the scale again….And….what would I do… immediate shopping spree comes to mind…lol). You’re doing great…and you keep me so inspired…you’ve been so dedicated.
Way To Go Donna
Sunshine….it’s day 12 and I’m so happy I made it through last night. We CAN do this….You’re doing great!
Tesia….congratulations on day 12….and don’t worry…you are losing…I find that even when it doesn’t show up on the scale…the inches are going down (remember to tell me that when I hit a "stall"…OK…lol)
Betty….congratulations on that 30 pounds…you’re doing incredible….I’m so glad that you joined the thread. Hey, the cabbage patch would really help me get rid of some of this w weight!…I think I’ll have one of my "dance" days…just dance for 15 minutes. It’s just being silly…but…hey, it’s cardio …
Joan, Richard, Sally, Carol, Sienna, Donald (glad your back) Heather, Tanya, Maggie, Lisacc, Wendy, Rinoa and Tanya… hope you’re all having a great "no cheat" day!
Donald....the "cheat' is defined by your program. For me...that's processed carbs and sugar. Veggies, meat, berries, cheeses are all on my list of approved foods....AND, of course.....your great pizza (which I absolutely L-O-V-E)! Also, I'm comfortable with around 50 grams of carbs a day...but, alot of people have 100 -150.
Natalie…how did I miss your post. I’m so happy that you joined the thread! Let us know how you liked curves for women….Tesia was that the same gym
Cher
Thu, Aug-15-02, 15:02
Sheila...you're not cheating...a lot of people are doing CAD. If my doctor told me to switch to a little higher carbs (so that I wouldn't get dizzy or black out)...I'd do it in a second...and I'd enjoy it. ll of our bodies are a little different - you're doing great :) You just stay healthy...cause, we adore you
Tanya, you did no caffeine, I wish I could, because I only drink the 50 % blend, but when I don't have any caffeine in the AM , I am not a happy puppy... Well, I'm succeeding, it's not easy, We were away for 4 days ivisiting friends that's tough, because they are preparing the meals, all I could do was eat what looked like just the meat and salad, but, wasn't easy... today, I made dinner for company, and made enough bbqed chicken to last me the rest of the week, til we leave on vacation which is Wednesday. That's the only way, just be sure you have stuff in the house for when the "Hunger " hits you. Chris :wave: :wave:
Here's to a healthful and CHEAT FREE weekend to all of us. Let's all wish those pounds of fat into the corn field, like Tesia did with her donuts the other day.
Hi everyone….TGIF and ….It’s Day 13….and I feel great! Richard….You know…if I didn’t lose a pound…I would still be proud of myself. But, that’s only because I know that the inches continue to go down even when the scale seems stubborn (now, remind me of that if I don’t lose a pound by labor day…and, I’m bummed :lol: :lol: )!
By the way.....When is Labor day ????????? :lol:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Tina…congratulations on joining the NO CHEAT thread and welcome! This is an incredible group of committed people and we love the fact that you’re here….the more people…the more strength we all gain.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Heather…OMG….I just realized that you’ve lost 22.5 pounds since 7/29/02. You’re doing an awesome job…your body is probably just trying to play catch up. I hope that you took your measurements in the beginning….cause in addition to the 22.5 pounds…you’ve probably lost a lot of inches. Don’t worry…you’re doing great….and by Labor day…you will feel so good about your commitment. Now, all that aside….I’m sending you my private whoosh fairy…so that 2 whoosh fairy’s are working on that scale!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Betty….wow…it sounds like you’re doing great too. I agree….let's all wish those pounds of fat into the corn field …. And let’s all have the strength of Tesia.. not to eat those donuts :lol: We’ll miss you while your out playing in your convertible (sounds like fun)…but, will know that your thinking the same….NO cheat till labor day!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Tesia….I’m so proud of you! OK…that group hug thing was just too cute. I actually felt the warmth from the hug…in fact, I felt strength….COOL! Funny about the cookie dough…keep up the good work and the sense of humor. This is such a great group!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Marlaine….167.5 pounds… and a 62.5 pound total weight losss….WOW! that is sooooooo great! Ok…now you’re making me think about giving up cheese again for a little while. Ditto all the cute congrats that Victoria made for you…they are well deserved. Way to go with the 2 pounds…..
Richard…your pictures are so cute….the new t-shirt is great! OK…I know you’re doing really well….but, I won’t say anything. Can’t wait to see your success on Labor Day.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Vicki….I love your body fat….a lot/toomuch/20 can I copy that. Actually I have no ideal what my body fat should be (or, what it is). Humm, maybe that’s something I should do soon.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Sally…hope everything is going well today. Why would I worry…you’re doing so great! So, …just so you know…..
Hi Cher-
Just noticed that you're from Newport Beach and wanted to say hi because I'm right up the road in Costa Mesa. I think you're the closest person that I've found on this forum. I know there must be some other way to send you a message on this forum without everyone else being bothered by it because it doesn't really apply to this thread but I haven't done much on here so far....will try to brush up on my messaging skills....anyway....I've enjoyed reading this thread. Good going for you and everyone else! I just joined in the no-scales group and I'm going for no weighing for a month - until Sept. 16. Wish me luck! Karen
Just stopping in to say that it's been a great no cheat day!!!!
Also, that I'm going to hide the scale and stop driving myself crazy!!!
I won't weigh in until Labor day....although that makes me nervoud b/c what if it turns out I'm in one of those Mind Boggling stalls and after all my hard work to stay clean the scale doesn't show it???? I take my measurements once a month but that's always such a slow change anyway.
OK though!!! I'll REALLY try anyway to not weigh myself.
YahahhahahahahOOOOOOOO!!!
Feels good to be in control!!!
I'm still here and still on track. Still no cheesecake and still no cream cheese. I REALLY wanted some cream cheese last night...just a spoonful, but did NOT have it because of my commitment to myself and to all of you!
Tanya and Maggie...
I've been having the same experience as both of you. Being really hungry and wanting to eat. When that happens, I usually try to eat some extra fat and/or protein because that seems to work best to stop the hunger.
Have either of you figured out what foods will stop the hunger for you?
Cher...GREAT news about the jeans!! Dontcha just love wearing clothes that are too loose. What an improvement over clothes that are too tight!
Richard.....Thanks so much for the encouragement! It's good to see that you are starting to get more than one meal a day in. I think you will find that things work better if you can eat several smaller meals rather than just one large one. Please tell me that you ate more on Saturday than just:
Sausage and Eggs.
1/2 oz of Cheese.
1 Diet Coke.
Victoria......Thank you so much for the cheering section! I appreciate the encouragement! Hope things continue to go well for you too!
So....here it is Sunday morning and I'm having a bit of relaxing time. Then off to the showers with me to get ready to go to the local Farmer's Market for noon. Karen (our resident chef, here at the website) is going to be the Guest Chef at the Farmer's Market today and is going to be giving a tour of the produce with discussion on what to do with all of it! I'm going to be there with pen and paper in hand. Looking forward to it!
Hope each and every one of you is having a relaxing, joyful and LC successful day!
:thup: This challange is really having an effect, Last night we went to dinner at a young couple from our church, they made one (really) one hamburger for each person, potato salad, macaroni salad and cake for dessert. thank goodness I had brought the appetizer, which were cheese, pepperoni, walnuts, grapes and crackers. I had eaten some cheese , pepperoni and walnuts while we chatted before dinner. but let me tell you, I was hungry when we got home. BUT I DIDNT CHEAT!!! thanks cher gfor starting this, I'm sure I would have excused myself and eaten if not for our challenge. chris :wave:
It’s Day 15 of the NO CHEAT challenge…and everyone is doing an awesome job…I’m so proud of you (and myself) for not cheating. WTG!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Donna…thank you…ALL of you for being in the challenge. I really needed to do this to make sure that I had a good month. I think everyone’s commitment has made it so much easier. Can you believe how well Chris did last night despite the menu that was served. I’m so proud of her.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Maggie…is your whoosh fairy new…she’s so pretty and I love the moon sitting right next to her. I understand having to leave something alone even though it’s pretty low carb like the almonds. I usually have cashews and it doesn’t seem to have an effect on me…I can have 11 and stop. I haven’t tried Almonds yet…but, I’ll trust what you’ve said and just stay away from them. A lot of the low-carb products give me problems…so, even though I like them…they usually have to go too. I think you’re doing great. One of the things that we learn with this WOE is how our body responds to different foods… it’s amazing to see which ones were sensitive to.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Marlaine…congratulations on getting through last night without the bite of cheesecake…that’s awesome and that’s what this challenge has done for me. I think of you all and I just don’t want to cheat. The jean thing was a little embarrassing when I saw how low they were hanging on my hips…now, I know that’s in style again…but, I leave that to the teenagers and 20 year olds (well…OK…probably 30 too)! Your Sunday with Karen as the guest chef sounds great. Please have a lot of fun today…and share any tips she may give.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Chris…there you go – it’s that preparation thing again. I’m so glad you brought the appetizer’s…I think that had a huge impact on your NOT cheating…you were prepared. That dinner would have made me really hungry too (in fact starving). I can’t believe how much it helps me when I hear your strength. That seems to keep me strong too.
Just checking in to say that it's been a challenging weekend but I think I did OK! It was a friends birthday and we all went out to Mexican food. I did not eat A SINGLE tortilla chip (one of my weaknesses), NO RICE, NO BEANS!!!! I did have a Corona but does beer have THAT many carbs in it?????? I ate super LC for that whole day...I had had an omelette with some LC veggies for breakfast and that's it.
So, I will count that as a "Good Day".
Alright, I'm off to the grocery store, and the laundromat, and mall....ughghgh!
Peace,
Star
There is a lot of good energy happening here in this thread and it feels wonderful! Congratulations to every one of us for doing so well for the last two weeks!
**********************************************************************
Cher....If I were you I'd be wearing those jeans all of the time. Don't you think it's a pleasant switch from clothes that are too tight because we've out grown them?
The blue jeans that I had altered to fit me are getting waaaay to big on me. It's humorous to me the way they ride on my hips. Speaking of which, my hip bones have premiered!! I actually don't have to be lying down on my back to be aware of them. It's awesome to be discovering that I actually have bones and it's not just all that puffy/fluffy fat inside my skin. It's most exciting to see the muscles emerging as the fat peals away.
You realize of course that if you start getting some more muscle happening, you may not need to lose much more at all. You'll be able to enjoy eating more and focus on building LBM. And you will feel great about the accomplishment!
Chris and Star... You two are awesome for having resisted the worst kinds of temptation!! What an example and inspiration to the rest of us. You were challenged and you both came out big winners!
**********************************************************************
The tour of the Farmer's Market, with Karen was excellent. It was very relaxed and very informative. She shared with us a multitude of ideas for using a variety of veggies and most often she made reference to them as Mediterranean flavours and traditional meals from Italy all of the way to Mexico. She suggested to us that foods that are grown together should be eaten together. The BBQ was a recurring theme as she told us how to grill peppers and eggplant. Goat cheeses were suggested as an addition to several savoury combinations of tomatos and zucchini and kale and beet greens and mushrooms and other veggies I'm sure I'm forgetting. Karen demonstrated how to prepare an artichoke and how to get to the artichoke heart. All in all, it made me very hungry and I'm going to try several of her suggestions.
Wishing every one of you another successful week of NO CHEATING!!
IT IS STILL ON!!!
Just wanted to get that outta the way. :D
It seems that everyone is doing really well. Congrats to us all! :yay:
Cher, I want to thank you for taking the time to acknowledge all of our posts so personally. It's really sweet of you. :)
Marlaine, party on, chick! :agree:
Tina (dayspring), glad you decided to c'mon along! :)
You are all an inspiration to me. :thup: Thanks for the encouragement.
And now for something completely different........
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: It was running away from Betty, of course (you see, it was a tender, juicy, plump little chicken that looked great dressed up in Betty's Gorgonzola cheese sauce). :D
Well another NO CHEAT Day for me today. But I had a Bad Day of Eating. I didn't eat near enough today.
All I had today was some left over Sausage mixed with some Corn Beef Hash and around 4 oz of Cheese.
I drank 70 oz of Water and 1 1 liter diet pepsi.
I left the house this afternoon and it was late when I got back home, so I didn't stop anywhere to eat anything.
I have to Admit I was Proud of one thing. I went to my Niece,s house for a Visit and she was out getting Pizza. Anyway she came back home and wanted me to eat some and Believe it or not I just wasn't interested in it. So I just said no and Passed on it.
I did have a Ball Playing with the Puppy. Her name is Jersey. She's the one I'm holding in my arms in my Avatar. She's a little Maltese and she runs the house or so she thinks.
She sure is a little bundle of joy.
OK tomorrows Monday so I'm happy to say I made it through another weekend too. I need to do some shopping in the Morning. I have to restock on Veggies.
OK Everybody. It sounds like your all doing well. Take Care. We have 15 Days to go on the Challenge. Don't forget to Post in this Journal on Sept. 3 so we can come up with a Total weight loss.
Regardless how much each of us has Lost or even if we didn't lose anything it has Been a Blast having everyone Focused on thier Program. Take care.
Cher or Sally, which day are we on I have lost count. However, I have not, not , not, not Cheated. Did I metioned I have not cheated?????????????????????????????????????????????????
I wrote this in my journal but it needs repeating, just in case, Heaven Forbid, that someone actually does not come by and visits in my journal.
One of Bob's DIL's was here yersterday after I got home and came with a pkg. of cookies and they happen to be my favorite. Well, she tells me that Bob had mentioned that I had not eaten sugar or starch for over two weeks and that he thought I was really getting a handle on my sweet tooth. So she says, ''I THINK IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO HAVE SOME SWEET STUFF, SO I HAVE BROUGHT YOUR FAVORITE COOKIES''. WEllllll, I thanked her for them and took them to the kitchen opened them and ran them down the garbage disposal. Don't like wasteing food but I am looking at cookies as not being food, but for me a ticking time bomb. Now was she being mean, partly. Now why do I think this. Well, her DH is still out of work, she is a high school teacher and school has started and right now she is PISSED off at the whole world. So after the disposal work, I turned to her and told her how good the cookies were. Her DH even asked her why she brought them knowing that I am trying so hard to stay away from carbage. Anyway I think I handled that very well and felt I delt with this the only way I could, cause if I had left them till they were ready to go home, there was this chance I would have tasted just one then two then yep, the whole damn package.
Going to exercise this morning and planning anouther NO CHEAT day. Everyone have a wonderful day. Much love and support Joan :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:
Hello everyone, I am so proud of you all for your will power and commitment for the challenge. I have not cheated but ate to much fat yestersday and my stomach is paying for it today. I was under stress worrying about my blind neighbor and I ate a whole pound of bacon. Oh boy, I will not to that again. So today, I made another committment to myself. I will stick with 3 meals a day with meat and salads and leaving the bacon alone. Hope everyone have a great low carb day.
Hello everyone. I have really missed you guys. I have had a great no cheat week-end. My size 9/10 jeans are getting big so I should be able to squeeze into a 7/8 and then let them grow and get bigger. I like to use clothes as my guage of weight lose.
Joan you go girl. That was a wonderful thing to do. I pray that we can all do the same thing in light that the holidays are coming up. My office will be filled with goodies everyday after Halloween. All the employees bring goodies in, but our vendors send us the real good stuff. We have french imported candies it is the real good carbage. I pray for God to give me the strength not to put those chemicals in my body.
Today has been a total of 12carbs so far. I plan to have chicken for dinner and spinach salad. I should come well under the 20 grams I have allotted for each day. I haven't figured out my cardio work for the day. I have my lower body to do today for my weight training. I ride the bike today, I'll run tommorrow.
OK, today is Monday, I went to the gym and the tape didn't work, so I left the class, went right next door to the workout room, did 5 miles on the stationary bike, did the universal, then hit the tread mill for 20 minutes, I got my 50 minute workout and didn't waste my time. I am very proud of myself. and NO CHEATING. We leave on vacation Wednesday, so I made myself a loaf of Atkins bread to take with me for munching when I need to. Actually to road is not too bad, You can go to any of the fast food restaurants and they'll give you a hamburger or whatever they sell on a plate without bread, and Subway will give you any sandwich as a salad, so.o.o. driving's not bad, it's those times when you visit people that are tough. Wish me luck. I'll be back to report on Labor Day... no cheat til labor day. chris
Day 16 almost gone….and…I didn’t cheat! Wow…this thread goes so fast I feel like I’m behind everytime I come here. But, it inspires me to keep going…so thank you everyone!
Joan… hey…I’m not a human garbage disposal either….lol! Tomorrow will be Day 17. I can’t believe how awesome you’re doing…what you did (by throwing the cookies in the garbage disposal) was great…you handled that very well! I couldn’t believe that someone would do that knowing that you’ve been off of sweet for 16 days. But, I had someone do that to me once…real pressure to eat a cookie at a deli. I didn’t know her very well. But, I don’t think people totally understand how important this is for us. One cookie can lead me to a total binge…it’s like I’m addicted to sugar. When I have it…I just want more and more…one just isn’t enough. So, way to go Joan…that was an awesome commitment to this WOE!
Linda…so glad you’re back. We missed you over here. Now I get to see you at your journal…on this thread and the exercise thread…wow ! Glad you had a good day! Really impressed with your workout results…glad you posted that in your journal. I keep neglecting my gym log…but, I’m working on it :)
Star… It sounds like you did a great job at the Mexican restaurant yesterday… congratulations! How exciting that your one year anniversary is coming up on Sept. 1.
Marlaine…this is an awesome thread. I come here daily for support and motivation.
When we started…I just felt like I was going to cheat…and, I didn’t want that to happen. Getting a solid 30 days behind me will mean that most of those (if not all) cravings will go. Thanks for the update on your tour with Karen…that sounds like a lot of fun. I’m constantly trying to learn new ways of cooking veggies…and BBQ grilled peppers and eggplant sounds so good…what a treat. I’m glad you had such a good time. I agree…it is soooooo nice to have Jeans fitting loose…rather than tight. It’s exciting to hear about your muscles and bones emerging…that is just incredible and must feel great! I will enjoy the time that I can just focus on LBM…trying to re-start that commitment this week. The main area is…..the dreaded arms.
Betty…you are just doing so well…I’m so proud of you (and everyone who’s made this commitment). It’s you gals/guys who are keeping me really good this month. Funny joke about the chicken :lol: :lol: very cute!
Tanya….I’m so glad you’re hanging in there. Did you try Donald’s Pizza??? It’s one of my favorites.
Tina….congratulations on those 7 days…you’re doing awesome :)
Richard…I’m so glad that you’re doing so well. Passing up the Pizza at your niece’s was just great. You and Joan deserve a reward for getting through tough situations. I’m glad you ate more today…I’m was worried about you eating enough yesterday (OK…that’s enough of me being mom) :rheart:
DonnaJ…I’ve heard that extra fat makes you burn calories more (or, fuel’s the system). But, I hope your tummy’s feeling better today. Like Vicki said…your stats are great…you’ve done an incredibly job. So, at least you didn’t go for the carbs…WTG!
Heather…you’re doing awesome :rose:
Lissac….It’s great to see you back. Way to go on the jeans. Marlaine and I were just talking about how nice it is to have loose jeans instead of tight. It sounds like your exercise program is going well. Do you post at the exercise challenge thread?
Chris….wow…what an exercise workout…WTG! We’ll miss you while your on your trip but it sounds like you’re well prepared!
Sally…lol…that was so cute. Congratulations on getting though today just by the hair of your chinny chin chin :):lol:
Wow...sorry about the long post everyone :doah:
Good Tuesday MOrning fellow NON CHEATERS, had a very good day yesterday still feeling strong. I need to report that Bob's DIL called me last night and apologized for the cookie incident. She did go on about being so mad at her husband (Robin) for not having a job. I had to ask why then did she feel she should take this out on me. Her reply was that she thought it wouldn't matter to me. Well, this sorta set me off, and I told her that just because I have a weight problem and a problem eating sweets does not mean I have no feelings. I also made it very plain to her if she ever did anything like that again she would not be welcomed at our home. I also told her I would never think of doing something like that to her or anyone else and that cause she is mad at Robin she needs to find a different way to vent her frustrations.
I felt we ended on good terms and I don't feel this will happen again due to the fact she knows I am a woman of my word.
The really best news is the dress I got back in June that is a smaller size and was so tight breathing was not premitted. Wellll, I had set myself a mini goal to be able to wear the dress before mine and Bob's wedding anniversary and that is this Thursday and soooooo last night I decided to try on the dress and IT IS LOSE, IT IS LOSE, IT IS LOSE......I CAN BREATH, I CAN ACTUALLY BREATH IN THIS DRESS so color me a happy no cheater.
Chris, have a great vacation and I know you can stay focused, it is very hard when visiting family and friends, but you can do this.
Sally, I need, I want please give it to me the STRAWBERRY MARGARITA cake recipe. I want to make it for Bob's b'day on the 10th of September.
Linda, welcome back to the NO CHEATERS, we are all in this battle together. None of us can be pefect with our choices at all times. Glad you are back with us.
Cher, Cher, what a great ideal with this NO Cheat challenge, I think it is giving a lot of us the insentive to succeed with this WOE.
Okay came out a Novel again. Everyone have a great day. Love joan
Day number 17 ... Whew .. We're over half way there do you realize that!!!!! :D
I was really good today packing away only 21 carbs ... (Vicki - I got over the 20 mark :lol: ) and it was all healthier food .. I found I feel alot better if I start my day with a bigger b-fast, and then just graze for the rest of the meals .. :D well not necessarily grazing .. they were pretty substancial meals .. but lower in carbs...
Lately I've been having like 2 carbs for b-fast and then by dinner I'm trying to cram mega carbs in "to get into the 20 count" ... :D so I started this morning with like an omelet, instead of just 2 eggs .. and it was filling, my belly wasn't growling long before lunch, and I could eat the rest of the day comfortably - not desparately ... :daze:
I hope this all made sense .. :daze: .. it made sense in my head ... before it got to the screen :lol:
Talk later all ..
Hey all!
Still on the bandwagon!!! You know, this is a lesson for me! I had forgotten that the longer you go without cheating, the easier it is NOT to cheat! I know that Razzle said it this way "if you don't feed the cravings they will die" and it made perfect sense. Anyway, today we bought lunch for a group of incoming Freshman. I ordered 10 steaming hot pizza pies. For some reason I even ordered my favorite...pepperoni, mush and tom. It was extremely easy for me to just eat the toppings and throw the crust away. And, b/c I know that the tomato sauce has a high count...I only "ate" two slices. I still think my carb count is kinda high for the day though. I ate that and a low carb bagel that I ordered from online. I had it with a thin slice of tomato, a thin slice of onion, sliced turkey and cream cheese(can you say:YUM!?). I'm going to go plug that into fitday and see where I'm at. I'm making turkey legs and cabbage for dinner so that should be fine.
KEEP GOING EVERYONE!!!! WE'RE ALMOST THERE!!!
I thought about not posting the weight loss until Labor Day, but I just could not help myself and yes I changed my stats. Congrats on the big lose Joan YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I know you feel like you could conquer the world.
Maggie are you ok now with the dizzies glad to see you back. I have also been away for a couple of days but I just have been so rused here at work and then after work also.
Hey Tesia sounds like you are keeping yourself busy with the kids. You are so right about not giving in. Last night I have had one of the most stressful nights with my child I have ever had. I finally got her to sleep and went down stairs to the kitchen which I would usally go to cabinets and raid them just to calm down. I didn't do it I said to myself there is nothing in here that is going to fix this. I got a glass of water went back up stairs and prayed for God to give me guidance with the situation that occured with Ciara. I still could not sleep so I ended up getting up a 4 in the morining and doing laundry. Went back to bed at 5 and woke at 7 with a new attitude not only towards everything. I can handle anything with out food, all it takes is a little prayer. Prayer brought this program and this forum to me and He will see me through to the end, in all that I undertake. Even raising a precious, SPOILED little 4 year old.
Hey Princesspp glad to hear about your day also. I find the same if I eat a protein breakfast that I sometimes forget about when it is lunch because my body is not telling me it is hungry. I am actually eating lunch in the office as I am writing but I can't finish it. A couple of hamburger patties and a cup of brown beans but I can only finish the 1 hamburger patty and a couple of bites of beans, so no problem with the carb count.
Has anyone else had the feeling that the amount of food it takes for you to be satisfied has decreased since the WOE. I know I have I have to stop and remember to eat, now that I have so much energy. Well onward towards another no cheat day
love you guys
Lisa
