PS This a long and rather complicated (and political) article but Gary Taubes who wrote "What if it's all been a big fat lie?" in the NY Times recently. It traces the beginnings of the USDA Food Pyramid and the policy that low fat was the better way to eat. Here is the sub-heading: Mainstream nutritional science has demonized dietary fat, yet 50 years and hundreds of millions of dollars of research have failed to prove that eating a low-fat diet will help you live longer

Yes, it is very long, but truly informative. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read it. I read it myself and now feel very educated. The crux of it is just as you said...no proof low fat diets show results. In fact new research is now showing low fat not to be beneficial in many respects.
