Hi- am new to Low carb and struggling to find things I can pick up easily in UK. I don't eat red meat so I'm finding it quite hard- but I'm following Leslie Kenton's diet X factor and she suggests a whey protein supplement to make smoothies and shakes made by Solgar. I have tried several health food dhops to but to avail! Does anyone else know anything about this?!
Thanks!

ClarrisaB,

Holland & Barrat seem to have a good range of protein powders and things. The protein powder that I bought (vanilla Holland & Barrat brand ) doesn't seem to have any carbs in at all !:) I must admit I haven't used it yet, but various recipes seem to include it.

Happy shopping.

Bungle.

Thankyou very much! I shall have a look at their own brand- apparently it should be micro filtered or something...! Very confusing new world....

H&B's protein shakes are on a ½price discount offer at the moment. I just went today. Flax Oil and some of their wide range of vitamin pills are also on half price.

Waiting for the nuts to follow suit - should be soon.

There is also a shop on Wigmore/Welbeck, W1. I can't remember the name just now - haven't been that way for a while. It looks like a larger than normal Chemist. They have their own unique lovely cream with green leaf pattern carrier bags. I used to shop there just so I'd get a few bags to carry around ;) !! They have a wide range of Solgar products - mighty expensive I thought - but it's quality so I am told.

One other place comes to mind. The Hale Clinic at 7 Park Crescent, W1 has a health-food cum homeopathic cum aromatherapy shop which is a pleasure if you have a few hours to kill. They even have a library you can browse through for information. Worth a visit to find out what is available.

Take care,

*BUMP*

I know that this post is from a while ago...BUT i found a stockist of the Solgar Whey Protein you were asking about Clarissa....GNC. I go to the one in Bond Street Station, London....i didn't buy it myself (using designer whey at the moment, but may try Solgar next time)...but saw that they had a few different flavours (chocolate...yum... :daze: ).

Hope you're still around....please post! :D
