Would anyone know how high the incidence of uterine polyps are in women with pcos?
As if the problems with my ovaries weren't bad enough, it appears that I have developed a polyp which is causing heavy and frequent periods. The gyn is also suggesting a thermal ablation along with the d/c to remove the polyp. I understand the concept of the ablation but don't know anyone who has undergone the procedure. And because I'm a 'fraidy-cat, I'd really like to get the scoop on what to expect before I agree to this procedure.

I had the procedure done this past May. I bled for 6 months straight and they finally found I had several polyps to be removed. The procedure wasn't bad (I was asleep) but I did have some pain after. Resting after is good, but the best thing was not bleeding after the first day!! Yep that soon it all stopped. My husbands happier too :D . I hope this helps you, don't be afraid it will be the best thing for you!!

Thanks for the input! My procedure is scheduled for the end of August. They said that the whole procedure will take no more than a half hour all told. I'm more concerned with the after effects than anything I guess. But hopefully this will work for me the same way it worked for you. Thanks again!

You're sooo welcome! It does only take about half an hour and then you'll want to go home and sleep. You'll actually fell really good and will want to do stuff, but you NEED to rest! The second day I felt like a train ran over my body, I was sore from head to toe. I don't know if it was because of the way they strap you down during surgery or what so beware. No one told me about that part but around day 3-4 you'll feel good again. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. I have a journal if you want to stop by.

The surgery is scheduled for the 30th of this month, a Friday. And as Monday is a national holiday, it will be a 4 day weekend for me. Hopefully plenty of time for me to recover nicely. But for now, I'm gonna suit up and go swimming! Stay cool, sugar!
