This may be silly and childish, but when I lose the weight, I would LOVE a bellybutton ring! I think they are very sexy. They also bring attention to the new, flat stomach you have worked so hard to achieve!

There are a number of things I would like to do but:
The first thing I would do after all the basic things is to go out Ballroom dancing. Once that's out of my system I plan to get back into Karate and some other type of dance click.

Hmmm... Only One??
I can think of tons.
1) Ride bikes and run around with my kids...
2) Buy tiny clothes again with tight jeans and NO BAGGY TOPS!
3) Not worry about my butt jiggling and all the people rolling their eyes at the chubby girl (me) walking down the aisle in Walmart with her butt jiggling! (I only imagine this, but it gives me incentive to go on! haha)
4) Give my hubby the night (and future nights) of his life, without being embarrassed of how I look and "jiggle"! (my personal favorite goal! haha)

-SCUBA diving, complete with wetsuit
-the Medoc Marathon

Sat, Jul-27-02, 14:22
The Medoc marathon would be amazing! However, since I am more of a wine aficianado and not a runner, it is probably not the best choice for me! I hope you someday get to do it--and then of course tell us all about it!
Here is my list--and these are things I think about ALL THE TIME:
Buy clothes in a store other than Lane Bryant. While I thank my lucky stars for Lane Bryant, I would love to wear J Crew and Banana Republic like I used to.
Wear sleevless shirts and flat-front khakis
Cut my hair however I want without worrying about how fat my face will look
Buy a bikini--and enjoy wearing it--cause if you've got it, flaunt it. ;)
Visit my friends in Italy and France--places I have been afraid to return to after becoming so large.
Fit in a airplane seat without an extension.....Fit into a movie seat without feeling the circulation being cut off in my hips. AND become an advocate for changing these things so that no one will suffer that humiliation again!!!
Falling in love. I know I can do that at any weight, but all of my excess weight has made me hide form the world. I am a well-educated, kind, attractive person, but know that I am making myself miserable by treating my body so poorly. This has caused me to re-examine my feelings about myself, and as I heal (and LC, of course), the weight comes off. I look forward to feeling good enough about myself that I am ready to love someone else.
Thanks alot for the opportunity to share these thoughts. This topic was a great idea. I will have to return here often to read what I wrote so that I don't forget my dreams of a slimmer, healthier life.

One of the first things I'm going to do when I hit my goal is go to SIX FLAGS!!! I LOOOOVVEEE Roller coasters but after having a bad experience involving 3 workers trying to shtuff me into the ride, I have never gone back!
But ultimately, I want to take a serious stab at Plus Size modeling! I will still be larger than the High fashion Plus Models but I think that my goal size, which is a size 18 looked good on me and I should be able to do a little something out there! :D

Ohhh, Beanie!!!! You know, I want to give some answer that will make all that hurt go away but at the same time, I know that I've felt this way and fight with it every single day. I struggle with the fact that I DO try so hard to keep my self worth in perspective b/c I KNOW that I'm intelligent, funny, hardworking, honest, caring and all those other great things but sometimes I feel like what's the use when the men can't get past the 300 lb mass that hides it all????
with the work we're doing on losing weight comes the necessity to work on our innerselves.

I know what I'm going to do.
I am getting the big vericose veins off my legs...then...
I am going on a thin vacation. Windjammer barefoot cruise.
and after I get back, I'm getting a summer pass to Great America and I'm going to ride every ride that I've not been able to fit on at least 12 times while wearing denim shorts and a shirt with tails that I tie at my waist.
Then I'm going to go to every sporting event and concert that I want to without worrying about taking up two other seats along with my own.
And then...And then...And then...
I think you get the picture

Alas alack, I had to kiss a bikini goodbuy last fall when I had my emergency appendectomy. I now have this scar on my belly, nice and long and scary looking. I'm getting used to it now, but I'd never feel comfortable in a bikini. Also, I'm rather um, well endowed. Runs in the family. They don't make bikini tops that would fit me for a price I'd consider reasonable.
But what one thing do I want to do when I lose all my weight.
Have to echo Jim about being the partner our spouse deserves in between the sheets. Sure, I know he loves me as I am (he found yet ANOTHER way to love me this week: he wants me to teach him French!!) but I don't want to be so self-conscious about my body. Besides, I want to buy some naughty naughty nighties and not worry about what people think when I check out (Why is SHE buying this stuff? She needs to put more on, not take it off...) Self hate sucks.

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. I started Atkins 2 weeks ago and have lost 14 pounds on induction. I have 105 pounds left till I reach goal.
The thing I want to do when I reach my goal is buy an Elizabethan or Italian Renaissance costume and go to the Renaissance Faire.
I also want to go horseback riding and go to Scotland on vacation.
I want to buy clothes at a store that isn't for large sizes.
I want to go on a business trip and not have to worry about which seat I have to sit in on the airplane or whether I'll have to run to catch a connecting flight.

I guess what first comes to mind is not to have to think about my weight, or diet or food anymore. I want it to be done with, and be a normal(small) size, and spend all my new time, energy on other things like.......
putting on a swimsuit and feeling great in it and striding into any pool with my kids feeling good
Go skiing
greeting old friends, not hiding anymore
those are the top ones, with many more down the line!

I have a few big things I really want to do....
- I love horse riding, and would like to be able to go to any riding stable I want and ride virtually any of the horses there, not just the huge horses that aren't capable of doing what I am
- I also scuba dive, and would love to be able to buy a drysuit and wetsuit off the pet (mines custom made), and be able to get back into the boat by myself!
- Go and shop in normal clothes stores
- Be fit enough to go on a hiking holiday
- Get a job on a horse ranch without the risk of feeling like I'm a huge inconvienience
- Be fit enough to go jogging
- Have smaller boobs (kinda goes with jogging - I don't really want 2 black eyes!)
- Have a guy find me attractive...

when I get "skinny" I am going to finally take a vacation that doesn't require me to drive everywhere. I'm sick of not being able to fly because of small seats - and too poor to buy first class (which would probably still be too tight for a long flight.) I'm ready to fly to Europe, or the west coast..... or the Caribbean - and take up scuba diving! I'm tired of living vicariously through the travel channel!

I want a little black dress to wear on a date with my husband and then later that evening well lets just say we won't be sleeping. I also plan to get a tummy tuck if I feel necessary. And my husband has promised to buy me a quad (four wheeler). possibly a belly button ring hadnt considered it until I read some of your other posts. I want to wear short dresses with sexy heel and no nylons like katy Couric. Also someone mentioned having a ugly vein removed do it now so the incisions have time to heal and fade they stay purple colored for several months after the surgery. I want to look good without trying so hard, and move, run, sit, stand, hike, climb, you get the picture its really hard to be paitent..

Other than that, I will do and try to do everything else while still on my journey to my goal. Why wait till then? Part of getting to where you want to be includes acting as tho you are already there. :) Do you understand what I mean? Get that tattoo or belly ring if that is what you want. Enjoy being intimate with your partner....they love you, don't be embarrassed. I guess what I'm saying is don't wait till later to live your life as you want to. We only have now. There have been studies on how many calories are burned, but I can't remember where or when I heard about the story. I think it would depend on the.......amount of time spent. Remember practice makes perfect.
What I'm going to do after all the weight loss:
-Go to the beach and enjoy walking around with my shirt off.
-Go to my 10 yr. high reunion and enjoy the looks.
-Enjoy playing sports when we are broken up between shirt-and-skins.
-Go running without my knees and back hurting.
-ENJOY LIFE!

I agree that you shouldn't wait! Go for whatever you want now, if possible. Go dancing! It is great exercise. Find a bike that will work for you. If you can't jog, walk - it is better for you anyway.
As for sexy lingerie, wear it! The person you are wearing it for is not just your loved one, but you. If it makes you feel sexy, do it! Sexy is a state of mind, not a state of body! If something makes you feel better about yourself, the heck with everyone else. If you feel better, you will look better. Period. Same goes for belly button rings and tattoos.
To the wonderful lady who worries about the WalMart crowd - don't. They aren't worth it. I can tell you are beautiful already. Wear what you want and I will ALWAYS stick up for you. Clothes should make you feel more confident. If you don't feel confident in your clothes, get some that make you feel good about you. Walk tall, with your head high, shoulders back. Make people notice you because you are wonderful.
To the lady who wants the pearl string dress - get a big bank. Put your change in it, every evening. When I did this I found I had more than $400 in a year, maybe more. I'll bet you'll make your goal AND get that dress.
Good luck all! I am pulling for you in EVERYTHING you are doing. This isn't just about getting down in weight - it is about loving yourself, striving to improve yourself in every way. That is what we all should do - every day. And you are doing more than most.
Btw, I can't figure out how to edit this, but I have only lost 5 in two months. I keep coming back for inspiration from those of you who stick with it!

I want to become more active. Buy some roller blades and not be afraid to use them. I'm 46 years old, and I'm not sure I would be less scared if I were thin or not, but it sounds like fun.
I want to buy skinny cute sexy clothes that I enjoy wearing. It is still going to be difficult I don't kid myself on that, being big busted makes it hard for anything to fit right whether you are thin or fat.
As far as the lady who said wear sexy lingeree now, my question is where do you buy it? When you are over a certain size it is really hard to find anything like that.
I don't want any belly button rings or any tatoos, I just want the addornment of my own sleek slender skin. (tanned maybe). I want to buy some backless dresses,
Maybe, just maybe I might like to get my boobs lifted.

Two things:
1. Break out a box with black marker on the side that says "Thin clothes"...it will be nice to have a brand new wardrobe without having to shop...we'll how many of them are out of style...
2. Run a marathon...I've been a lifelong runner, but as my weight has gone up, I've had trouble running without injuries...I've still 20lbs. to go before I can do it without an hour a day of ice packs and Alleve...but once I'm there, I'm gonna get busy and do it...hopefully on Super Bowl Sunday 2003...stay tuned!

Also, to the woman who wants larger size lingerie: Another option is to have a home party demonstration. Many of those shows have very nice good quality Lingerie. The parties are fun, and the hostess gets stuff for free! :D
wherever you are I'm sure there is one in your area. (They're everywhere) Try "Colesce". There are others too, I just can't think of them right now. If I remember I'll add to this thread. You can find them on the internet for a demonstrator in your area.
PS: Sometimes they have co-ed parties if your mate wants to have fun too.

dietmore,
I have lost 55# since Jan.2, 2002. And, I'm not doing anything really special - absolutely no exercise. I also started at just about the same weight as you.
I have decided that beginning Sept 1, I will start my exercising. I have had two spinal surgeries so I was very afraid to do any exercising at all. But, I just bought a Leslie Sansone tape from ebay for "older adults" - I figure that it will be toned down for me to start with. Then, as my back gets used to it, I can step up and do other exercises.
I'm taking this WOL very easy. I know that if I jump into anything too fast and hard I will either injure myself or lose interest.
So far, I'm very happy with my results! :D
BTW, in my mind and heart I am still 22! At least that is what my DH tells me! ;)

If you want to start excercising I recommend weight training.
It is more effective than aerobics, building muscle works for you while your body is at rest or while it is working out. I started lifting weights in June, and finally got myself over a stall that had lasted about 2 years (I couldn't seem to get below 232). I'm at 223 today. Plus I am much stronger, my metabolism is faster (I can tell because I can no longer go for hours without eating), and when I do have bad 'cheat' times, I no longer gain back as much weight. Before, all I had to do was to be off the diet for a week and I would gain back 12 pounds or more. Now even with a two week "vacation" I only gained back 5 pounds and that came right back off with low carbing (water held onto by extra carbs) for a day or two.
If you go to Walmart you can buy a set of weights (100 pounds worth) and a bar for lifting for under 40 dollars. You can also get dumbbells, and an excercise ball for doing crunches (under 14 dollars).
People everywhere sell used excercise equipment really cheaply. I've dedicated a whole room in my basement as my excercise room, and most of that stuff down there didn't cost me much.
The most expensive piece of equipment I have down there is a weight machine that we picked up as a floor model at Sears for like 300 dollars. I have an ab crunch machine that was 160, I have a TV and Video player (TV free, video player 12 or so dollars), excercise ball (under 14), weight bench (borrowed), and free weights (under 40). Plus a healthrider I bought used for 20 dollars.
I guess you could say I've been collecting things over the years. Last time I really lost a lot of weight (before I found Atkins) I did it by weight lifting alone. Didn't diet, just excercised. Lost like 50 pounds then, and kept it off for quite a while.
Eventually not working out does catch up with you and I gained it back (after two babies and a few years). So now I'm back at it, only this time using Atkins along with it.
I'm getting ready to start the Body For Life challenge, and really push myself. Doing a practice run this month to see if I have the stamina to do it without killing myself. If so, I will officially join the challenge on October 7th.
Anyway weight training WORKS. Build some muscle you will be glad you did.

Oh gosh, and have no fear of those polythene (sp) chairs that a lot of places use here for outdoor table seating!! I always seem to be sitting on the edge just waiting to hop out incase they start to break..oy!
the list goes on...playing w/ the kid..
and playing w/ the hubby of course ;)

Probably last time I could do that was 20 years ago. I'm 26 now.

Get married on a beach somewhere in the next year or so wearing nothing but a bikini and a sarong!!!
Not ever have anyone tell me "But you have such a pretty face..." ever again
Officially be "the hot one" of all my friends! I've always been the pretty one... if only she'd lose a little weight... UGH!

Sherry B,
I use weights too! I have found it a very effective and inexpensive way to get in shape, plus I can do it with my asthma. For those starting out, may I suggest Joyce Vendrall's "Weight Training Made Easy"? With all due respect to TrainerDan, I couldn't do heavy weights to begin with. Joyce starts you with 3lb weights and you get used to doing the moves correctly with those before you move up. She has several different "workouts" using those same moves and she explains things in simple, non-techinical terms. In other words, it isn't scary. I have been doing this now for over a year and I look much more toned. Recent studies have shown, however, that you should alter your training moves to maximize the impact (muscles apparently "learn" the moves). While this workout doesn't do this, it is a great starter. :)
Second, Sherry, I want to say that after your comment about lingiere "where do you find it" I felt obligated to find some for you or others. Using google: lingiere plus sizes, I found some very sexy lingiere for sizes up to 44. I can't vouch for the companies, but still I hope this helps. For those needing even larger sizes, I will keep looking. Good luck you sexy gals (and guys) out there!

I guess now I have to go find some... I was so excited on Sunday to find that I FIT into my wedding clothes from 11 years ago. I may soon be able to start looking for clothes in a regular size large. (that was the size on the 11 year old skirt and blouse).
So Victoria Secrets, may be just around the corner for me. I just can't get over it. I weigh this much. Must be gaining an awful lot of muscle, because I don't remember ever weighing over 200 before and fitting into a large, usually at least an extra large. When I wore it before, I weighed 186 or less.

Good job! But there are many more places (and nicer) than VS. Don't limit yourself. Btw, weights will do that for you, give you beautiful compact muscles rather than loose flab. Amazing.
Go for it, Sherry!

P.S. I hope I got this quote thing right.

This may sound alittle out of touch, but here's my reward. I want to get pregnant - I know get pregnant and gain it all back. Well my body will handle a bun in the oven (oops that not real pc on a LC board - A roast in the oven?) Anyway my body will handle it better starting at 145 then at 245. Besides if i can lose 100 lbs then I shouldn't have a problem losing the post pregnancy 30.

I'm 25, and I'm actually planning on waiting until 30 before my husband and I start trying; I'm getting my teacher's certificate, and I think it's only fair to give my school 4-5 years before I leave them for my family...
But I don't even want to think about having a baby where I am now. I'll never be one of those women who carry like a basketball in front of them, but I don't want to feel so big before I start that process that I can't really tell the difference between "large" and "preggy". And you're right about the 30 after being easier once you've had the willpower to lose the 100 before.
Here's to being the skinny, energetic, lively Mommies we want to be!!!

Your fertility starts to decline at age 27. Don't wait too long. I saw an Oprah show not too long ago about people who were never told those facts, and were sure they could wait as long as they needed to, to get the rest of their lives in order. The reality is that you only have a limited number of eggs, and that if you wait too long sometimes those eggs become old and defective.
A lot of women are having infertility problems because they did wait too long.

I need to get down in weight to have another baby too! I got up to 250 when I was pregnant the first time. My knees couldn't take it. I was falling apart because it all happened so fast. I was 210, got really REALLY sick and down to 190 in the second month. Then BOOM, 250 came fast. Probably from being pregnant and in starvation mode in the beginning.(Plus, having a huge baby 9lb 12oz-all muscle boy) I think all I ate during my pregnancy was carbs. Luckily I was craving EGGS! I ate tons. And oranges. I know LC'ing will be okay for pregnancy, but adding carbs to be in maintenance/prego mode. But wow, if you get sick, it all goes out the window and you just struggle to eat what you can, what your body will hold in. I know I will be so much healthier this time around, even if I'm not to my goal weight. :D
I wish all you gals luck out there that want to start a family. It is the greatest joy on earth to me. :rheart:

1) Go to my 25 year class reunion as the same size I was when we all graduated
2) Go into any store anywhere and buy "regular" clothes off of the rack. Now that I have finished college and have a decent income that will be fun!!
3) Go with my husband to a tropical vacation and have the nerve to lay topless on the beach without feeling "fat". That would be so sexy and my husband is so excited about that one!!!

Thank you! It sure took a while but i don't feel like an insperation for weight loss. I mean, some people eat celery all day and run 5 miles just so they can earn that extra cruton in their fat free salad. Me? I ate cheese and steak and I lost the weight.
I just want everyone who needs to lose 100 or more pounds that they can do it. When I started this wol, I was overwhelmed by all the weight I had to lose. I could not even imagine myself sticking to it to the bitter end. It seemed like so much weight. It took two years to do it but when you think about it, 2 years compaired to a life time is nothing! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. The truest act of love that I could ever do for my mind, my body, and the people I care for was to get this weight off.
The sad thing that I've noticed is the way I'm treated now as opposed to when I was very heavy. People react very differently to me. I'm dissapointed to realize that I feel more apart of the human race now that I'm thinner because of people's responces to me. I get more help when I'm carring something heavy. People are more likely to say hello on the street. When I'm lost and I need directions, people actually take the time to make sure I know where to go. I don't get those nasty looks from the teenage boys on my street anymore. I'm a private piano and voice instructor and It seem like my students are working with me much more smoothly.
This is not the world that I thought it was. When I was heavy, I assumed that people were a certian way to everyone regardless of looks but I guess I was wrong.
Don't let my words bring you down. In general the weight loss has been exceedingly positive and I have no regrets.
I'd send you before and after pictures but I don't know how to scan. Any info wout be appreciated

Thanks for putting yourself out there for us to relate. That is a candid glimpse at the truth. I know what you mean but from the other side of it. I was thin for a long time, looking back I thought I was downright gorgeous with long hair and tan skin too. But I was a kind of a crappy person. As I grew up on the inside, my outside took a beating and I put all those bad behaviors I use to have into eating.
Anyway, as I got fatter I felt more and more invisible. Nobody seemed to notice me in public or at family gatherings (my husband's side has like 100 people all living in one small town) and I just felt like nobody took me seriously, like my opinion didn't matter. Now, people are talking to me and smiling at me and waving in the neighborhood more and saying "GEE, you are looking GREAT!". It feels good to be recognized again. But it's more a wake up call for me as to how shallow those people are.
Have you seen that movie "Shallow Hal"?? I give it 5 stars! It was great! It's so hits home on that point with a comedic twist.

The first thing I want to do is put my cute little belly button Angel hoop back in and then get all my clothes back out and wear them. I went shopping in greece and Italy, new york puerto rico and there are alot of clothes I can't replace. I gained these 30 pounds fast when I got hurt and immobilized. It broke my heart when I had to put them away. I almost gave them away. Their not that old and are really nice. I was totally disgusted when I gained this weight, but now I'm on my way to getting rid of it. Thanks to this new WOL.

Starchile, I love your 'tagline', that is a really inspiring affirmation.
I would like to do a lot of things, but the first two are:
1. Play with my little girl. She is six, and my inability to spend more than 5 minutes helping her learn to ride a bike, play soccor, etc. is heartbreaking.
She has this Danny DeVito/Rhea Perlman movie called "Matilda", where a brilliant, TK little girl finally gets a real mother, and she watches the end, where the young woman who adopts her plays with her, swings with her, rollerblades with her, and she watches this with a longing... and tells me, "When you're skinny... well... maybe you'll never get skinny.... but - but it could happen right?.... when you're skinny, could we go skating?" Man.
2. Go skydiving. I've always dearly wanted to do this. The movie 'drop zone' was so delightful for me (adult action, not a big plot, but I really dig skydiving stuff). Obviously, one needs to be as strong but as thin as possible for this. I don't know if I will ever be thin enough to make that a reality, but it's something I would really like to do.

Responding to another post(s) about pregnancy --
I got pregnant at age 30. I weighed about 375 lbs then. (About 420 when it was over.) Trust me. The only thing more horrifying than doing pregnancy when you are 250lbs overweight, is delivering the baby.
Losing weight PRIOR to having a child is a really GOOD goal in my opinion, even if it's just a little bit needed!
And I second the note about adopting children. If my life, income and available time were more than halfway together for a permanent commitment (I can't commit to a brand of toothpaste right now, I'm sorry to say, but LC begins next week, so...!), I would consider adopting a child, there are so many that need homes. Babies are hard to find as caucasians -- if one doesn't have that requirement there are many wonderful babies who need a loving home, and many older children who do as well.

There are so many things I would love to do.....
I think my number one thing will be to bring a bathing suit with me when I travel for work and actually put it on at the end of my day and sit in the hot tub after a work out, or go for a swim on less-busy days. It always kills me not being able to enjoy the pool and hot tub on business trips.
Number two thing will be to fit into a single digit size. I think at my target weigt, I will be a 9.
Number three thing will be to be better received at my job. I am in network security sales. It's a sad statement, but I am sure I will do better being a smaller size. Having to present to prospective customers and partners can be very intimidating the larger one gets. You only have a finite amount of time to convince them, and as well all know people draw their own conclusions based on the size of a person. My success has dropped off as I have gained weight....Blech! I can't wait (weight :p )!!!

HI IcicleWork
You will get there with the LC diet. I am doing great, I will update my profile only when I visit the Doctor, and that will be soon. I don't weigh except on his scales. Just remember to walk or move around a lot, even if you just cruise your home. Exercise is the best way to get it off fast and I believe that walking is the best, I leave the basket at the front of the store. walk around and then come back and get a basket. I dance when I am alone! Don't tell My Husband! He would think I was crazy! You know Baptist don't dance.
My husband was not very supportive, but has become so with time. He makes sure when we go out that it is a place where I can get a steak or grilled chicken or something I like. Tell the old man, to get up and get with the program! Is he overweight also? That might me why he is so lackadaisical about sex. My old man don't get away with that and he is retired! LOL
I would put him on crackers and water! He loves my cooking and I still do cook for him. Cakes, pies, etc. but I just sit and watch him eat them. My blood test are great, low cholesterol and low blood sugar doctor had to take me off blood pressure meds, his blood tests are bad! He had to go on cholesterol meds this week. I told him Type II Diabetes is next! He just frowned at me and ate his cake. He is not fat, but heavier than he has ever been. weighed in at 148 when we married and 182 now, but he is not overweight for his 5' 11" height. He does need to eat healthier, as I would love to keep him around a long time! Can't think of life without him.
I still want to walk down the street and not be noticed for my size! Just because I look nice and neat! I also want my only granddaughter to be pround of Gran'ma. She is 6 and we are very close. She is going for walks with me now. We go exploring, find all sorts of treasures! Acorns, hickory nuts, deer, and all sorts of creatures.
Hang in there, and do this thing for yourself. Sometimes we have to just love ourselves so others can love us in return. When he sees your determination, he may change his mind about you! You go Girl!
Best of luck to you,
dietmore.
LC is wonderful WOL! But don't forget the supplements! You have to take them!

People! I noticed some of you mentioning not feeling bad about yourselves in the bedroom, or having a man find you attractive! I'm very sad to read that becasue I think you should accept yourself at any size. It is FANTASTIC that you are losing weight and working on a healthier, happier you. But you can't put your life on hold for the day when you are slim! Love yourself for who you are, and you will be happier with yourself at any size.
There are many men out there who find BBWs to be very attractive. Why shouldn't a man find you attractive just becasue you're fat?! Self confidence is more attractive than any skimpy bikini or svelt figure.
It is great to set goals and to reward yourself when you reach that goal. But don't deny yourself of feeling great any time. Life is too short to wait for your goal weight to make proper love to your husband. Do it tonight! Feel great in your skin and love yourself. He'll love you for it, too:)
You don't know if you're even going to live to see the day that you will be thin: sh*t happens, life is short and unpredictable. Enjoy each day to the fullest no matter how big or small you are, or even if you get a bad haircut!

At my heaviest my husband had desire, and still does, But the greatest thing he has said to me is "I now feel closer to you, I meant really phisically closer" And I didn't even know I married a sweet guy, by the way he is in his 60's and wonderful!

I only wish it was this simple. You cant just 'decide' to love yourself one day after years of self-loathing.
MarieB

ICICLE WORK:
YES, YES YES YES YES YOU CAN!
We need to start loving each other and ourselves! I sense a little self pity in your comment, and I don't want to make you feel bad because of it. Do you think we don't all have our bad days? Of course we do, and that's okay.
But, after years of self-loathing, that is EXACTLY what you have to do: MAKE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO LOVE YOURSELF, NO MATTER WHAT!!!! You are a great person, beautiful inside and out. And the sooner YOU realize that, the sooner everyone else around you will realize that.
And if your husband isn't attracted to you; THAT IS HIS PROBLEM! Did he marry you for your body, or for your mind and your loving spirit and personality? What you look like on the outside, at the end of the day, doesn't really mean a lot.
I have struggled with my weight since I was a child. I have NEVER been thin. I grew up in foster care, due to having a schizophrenic and manic-depressive mother, and my father died before I ever had a chance to meet him. I suffered abuse since a very tender age, not to mention always been told I was fat and ugly, by my foster parents, kids at school and even people on the street!
Well you know what? F*ck them and their negative opinions! I have lived through too much, and I am too good and strong a person to let myself be pulled down to their level of thinking: do you know WHY they said and did those terrible things to me? BECAUSE IT WASN’T ME THEY HATED: IT WAS THEMSELVES!
You don't have to be a victim of circumstance. EVERYONE has problems; everyone has suffered in one way or another. Take that self-loathing, those painful memories and use them to make yourself stronger! You have survived life to this point, that in and of itself is reason enough to give yourself praise.
There was a time when I was so depressed that I didn't even have the energy to get out of bed so I could kill myself! And I still have days where I let my negative thinking get the best of me, but I try to remind myself that I am so much better off than the starving children in Afghanistan, or even the woman down the block who gets a beating from her husband every night.
Try making a list of all the things you are thankful for.
Then make a list of your hopes and dreams.
Think about how you can make those dreams a reality. If the weight is standing in your way (I want to be a singer, and I knew that being fat would make it harder for me to succeed...so I am losing the weight).... but that doesn't mean I couldn't have succeeded at any weight, because I can. And so can you.
And if your husband tells you he isn't attracted to you, I think you need to sit down and have a heart to heart (on a good day, maybe after a couple weeks of feeling better about yourself no matter what you look like...who knows, that might be all it takes to rekindle a spark!)
Keep me posted, and if you ever need someone to talk to, email me at actorandsinger~aol.com I will respond as soon as I can!
Love and hugs to you!
YOU CAN DO IT, YOU ARE AN AMAZING WOMAN, if I can love you for who you are, then you can love yourself. Make the choice!

There's lots of things but how long you were overwight will set the priorities I'm sure.
I just reached the point where I had to go to the BIG and TALL stores. I'm glad thats over, although their prices were much more reasonable than most mall stores.
Other things I'm appreciating are the simple things I'd lost like being able to reach my tailnails without a lot of extra effort and likewise putting on socks without a deep exhale. But most of all I'm moving my gun back to inside the waistband.

I've always wanted a pair of those tall leather boots that come up over the calf. My calf has always been too huge for them, heck my ankles too. I thought I was doomed, but I just compared my measurments from 1998 when I was the same weight I am now and my calf is 1" smaller NOW! I'm being careful not to do any weight bulking exercise with my legs so hopefully they won't get bigger. Big muscles run in my family. And maybe one day, me in those boots with a super high cut mini skirt on...and the rest of the fantasy, well, half to keep zipped on that one! Heehee.

I want a pair of leather pants again. I use to have a leather set I paid a fortune for in Italy. Unfortunately I gave it away when I was planning to have a child. Now I want to get those and just have the comfort of my thighs not rubbing togeather when I walk.

Yeah, leather pants, I would like that. I'd also get all the leather gear and hit the town. Maybe a top hat made of leather do, with a giant peacock feather in it pointing directly in the air, like an antennae. I could become a street performer and dance for nickels! Yeehaw. Things are going to be great, I can feel it in my bones. Take care and all that jazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

This question has been around a while and I'm not sure if I answered it or not but this is how I feel, for now, what I would do, when I lose my weight.
I would go learn to ski, rollar blade, ice scate, tennis etc. All the sports that I've always wanted to do but my weight has prevented. Yep that's what I would do

Oh yes, I have plans for myself once I get where I'm going. :)
I've ALWAYS been overweight, and terrible as this may sound, I've never seen my figure. I have no idea what my body looks like under all this "padding". The coolest thing about losing so much weight is seeing my figure being gradually uncovered.
I've never felt particularly feminine during any part of my life; I do believe that my weight had to do with that...it really obscured me from myself. Things are changing now; with my emerging figure I find that I'm unearthing my feminine self and loving it so much!
When I hit my goal, I'm buying myself a whole new wardrobe! Where all my clothes now were bought to be loose and concealing, my new clothes will be fitted, shapely and will show off a lot more skin...namely my arms, thighs (skirts and short shorts!!) and some cleavage! I will wear tucked-in shirts and cute belts around my denim jeans! I plan on getting back into weight lifting at my goal, so eventually I want to be wearing shorter shirts to show off my flat, lean belly...maybe I'll even get a belly button pierce. :D
I will then go clubbing and dance out my joy and be beautiful to look at! :hyper:
I also can't wait until I am no longer afraid to wear a bathing suit, because I really miss swimming, both in pools and in the ocean.
I will learn how to inline skate! I have had skates for a while now, but falling down at this weight is just too scary and painful for me (I fall *a lot*).
I will insist my boyfriend buy me lovely skimpy things for my birthday and Christmas...and I know he'll love to do that!
These are only a few of the things I will do once I reach goal; I have a lot to look forward to! :yay:

I would put on a bathing suit and swim in the ocean with my kids. They have never seen me swim and always ask if I know how.
this is huge, during the summer we go to the beach every day. I love it and will love it more if I can get out of my shorts and large shirt with sleeves.
Also to tuck in a shirt - major goal.

I haven't tucked my shirt in in a while. I don't remember doing it other than when I had to do it, either army related, or just wearing a suit to something.
I also want to get a lot of tattoo on my chest and back, sort of like the ones in Cape Fear, but not really with the religious imagery. I just love tattoos and always wanted some on my back and chest. So far I just have them on my arms and one on my calf, and neck. I am excited.
Take care!

What will I do after I lose the weight? Oh all the fantasies that I have had about being an "ideal" weight...so I guess I will go shopping. No wait! Mountain climbing! Maybe skinny dipping. I don't know for certain but I do know that I will not be able to stop smiling or checking myself out in the mirror every chance I get! :sunny:

When I reach my goal weight I will...
...buy clothes in a "normal" size rather than buying a size that's too small for me because I'm embarrassed to buy my actual size, then putting it in my dresser and telling myself I'll wear it when I lose weight, and going back to wearing my very very few fat clothes that I bought ONCE when I couldn't fit into anything else. I want to be able to try clothes on and buy them because they look good, not because I'm too embarrassed to say "it's too small" when I come out of the fitting room.
To me an ideal size to be would be 8 or 10. Right now I'm technically a size 18 or 20, although all my clothes are 14 and 16 because I'm too afraid to actually buy a bigger size. They're stretchy, so at least I can get into them.
Best of Luck to everyone in reaching their goals!!!!

The first thing I will do is... BUY UNDERWEAR! No more big panties and boring bras for me! I want to be able to wear cute little matching sets in pretty colors with lots of little details like lace, bows, etc. This is the fantasy (soon reality) for me. To go anywhere and know that underneath it all i look good!

Ahh! I have so many things that I want to do once I reach my goal! I want to buy a cute bathing suit, that is not a miracle tummy tucking or a plain black (the one I have now is a black tummy tucking...lol).
I want to go shopping and not leave the mall close to tears because I couldn't find anything that fit well. I want to own a tank top that I will wear WITHOUT a shirt over it.
I will wear an ankle bracelet (assuming that I will have ankles when I reach goal).
I want to go to an amusement park and not worry about whether or not I will be able to fit my butt into the seat!
I will dance in public!
The possibilities are endless!

There is so many things I would love to wear. Mini skirts, jeans...yes just plain jeans. I haven't worn those in years. I would love to go for a walk without any pain. I would love to be able to do simple things like bending over without herniating myself. I also would just love to have little outfits and bathing suits. I feel that would be so comfortable. I want to go shopping and have a REAL choice in what to wear. I want to wear leather pants, have a belly button jewel to taunt my fiance, and get at tatoo without it stretching. I want to see admiration in other peoples eyes when I look HOT. And watch my honey be possesive. I want to go skydiving cause they said I was too fat!
But most of all, I really don't want to regain the weight and ever have to go through this again.

When I reach my goal weight, I will ...
(1) buy an entire new wardrobe
(2) get a makeover at a day spa
(3) GET A TATTOO
(4) get some seriously kinky underwear to tantalize the spouse with
and last but not least ...
(5) I want to be out in public, looking like a million bucks, and run into my ex-husband -- the son of a ***** who used to tease me, taunt me, throw things at me, call me a fat cow in front of his friends -- I want to show that ***** that he might have cleaned me out in the divorce and left me with nothing but my clothes and my cats , but <B>I FREAKIN' WON!!!!!!</B>

I have a HUGE list of things, but here's the top 5...
1) Beat all my health ailments (most are gone now) and not have to be told by the doc that I need to lose weight.
2) Get back my confidence and self-esteem that were eaten away by crude comments regarding my weight.
3) Walk in to the non-plus-sized section of the store and get clothes off the rack that fit properly.
4) Take a vacation to a beach destination and actually enjoy myself w/out worrying that people might be staring.
5) Renew my wedding vows in Vegas wearing a dress that is flattering--- maybe something fun and provocative!
Sorry ;) but I just couldn't pick one.

Oh this is an easy one.........I'm going to go through my closets and drawers and get rid of all my clothes. Then it's going to be lots of "retail therapy" to replace everything with colorful, fun clothes. To be able to wake up everyday and feel good about myself too. It's something that I should already be doing but I've let my weight influence my self worth.
Okay but this will sound really silly but I have two one is I would like to go to the DR. and not have obese written on my chart and then # 2 I never went to prom and my husband said that when I reach goal He will buy me a formal and take me to our own private prom. Sound silly?

1. dig out all the skinny clothes outta my closet ( i have 10 20 gallon trash bags full! most still have tags on them!!!)
2. be able to run and play with the two babies i keep often
3. buy a string bikini
4. belly button pierced
5.......... make the DBF's Jaw Drop when he sees me in anything!
6. wear that lil black dress ( size 11) that ive only worn ONCE!

Wow! Thanks to whoever bumped this old thread back up.
Believe it or not, I haven't even thought about this, but I real feel like I should! I know the Atkins New Diet Revolution talks about really thinking about you and your life at your goal weight, but it is SOOO hard for me to imagine. When I was last at that weight (11 1/2 years ago!!) I had no children, a career and a large party life. Now I have 3 children, no real job, and going to the dollar movie by myself is considered a treat.
After much thought, I think I would go out and buy a bike. It was always my favorite exercise as a kid, but those little seats just hurt my big *** too much! It would be a joy for me to be able to take my family on bike rides.

Once I get down to a healthy weight, I'll work on my other goal of becoming younger and taller, maybe getting back that full head of hair....... Barring that, though, I'm leaning toward treating myself to a nice vacation. Always wanted to "eat my way through Italy" but now I'd be more than content to just enjoy the sights, soak up some culture, meet some nice people. Of course, a tropical fruit safari through Guatemala or Belize or Brazil would be fun, too.

What is it that's so appealing about the belly button ring! I'm 40+ and I want one too. It would be so great to feel confident drawing attention to my belly!!
P.S. to DanDuprey - you can easily eat your way through italy and stay LC. They feature lots of grilled meats, roasted vegetables and salads. Try fresh ricotta if you can find it! Usually pasta is a side dish that no one looks askance if you forego! this is especially true in Northern Italy.
Have fun!!

Get on an airplane without feeling dread.
My family lives all over the country, and even though I'm still a student I take 3 or 4 trips a year... and I always feel that dread. I'm so paranoid that if we get seats next to someone else, I make my fiancee sit next to them so I won't have to worry about taking up too much space. Plus, there's the added dread of whether or not the seatbelt will fit me...
When I fly to Maine for my wedding in a year and a few months, I don't want to be thinking about seat-belts and angry people next to me... so I have a good clear goal. :D

Amazing i find this post as I start my first day of LC WOE Life.
Since my induction to the Hall of BIGness 10 years ago by putting on lots of weight my friends usually have those noninspirational comments about my weight and the one i hate is "could you imagine him in a speedo?" I look at it all the time to remind of which which direction I have chose for my life to take. I find it keeps me centered. The top of the foot was a good spot for me as I can look at it while in the tub. I think that I woluld for go the belly button piericing for another tattoo. Something small and cool. I guess I can't wait to put on a swim suit (one or two piece, doesn't matter) and feel GOOD in it!. I'm one of those "short" people whose weight automatically goes to the thighs so swim suits look horrid on me.
I want to be able to wear one proudly and not have to worry about covering up with a pair of shorts because I'm embarrassed of my fat legs!
Even with 8 lbs. to go to reach my goal (first goal), my legs still show signs of cellulite. I just don't understand it! Maybe I'll have to increase my goal some more....have to wait and see.

I want to wear a bathing suit and not feel self-conscious. Forget the bikini! Just a one piece would be fine, but just to experience that feeling that I'm okay - not a blob - would be so rewarding.
Also, in the FOURTEEN years I've been married I've never changed in front of my husband and he's never seen me naked (except under the covers and in the dark which doesn't really count!). Isn't that sad? I want to walk around the house naked!!!!!!!!

I haven't quite met my goal yet, but I am only 10 lbs away from my original goal. I am thinking about lowering my goal weight to 150. I want to pierce my belly button. Hey Angie:
I had to chuckle when I read your post. My daughter had her belly button pierced about two months ago. As a matter of fact, her 15th birthday is this Saturday and I have to take her back so she can have it changed for the first time. Hopefully it's totally healed. She took good care of it. If you do it, KEEP IT CLEAN. That's soooo important.
A friend of mine went with her to have it done. She was going through her midlife crisis (she just turned 40)! It actually looks pretty cute!

What I want most to be able to do...is prove to my Mom and Grandma that I WON'T be fat the rest of my life. And...THAT will never happen...because Grandma died in 1995; and Mom in 1999. Grandma had told me in conversation back in the early 1990's that I could never be slim enough....I would always be fat. So....if and when I ever achieved my goal, I was going to change my haircolor (or shave my head), buy clothes that didn't look like anything I would normally wear, and act like a totally different person...
Well...because of an unforeseeable change in events, I don't plan on doing that any more.
I think....the first thing I'm going to do....is....join the church softball team!!!! By that time, I'll probably be able to run the bases....you think so? :D

Well people...I am on my way to my goal and I did go and get my Belly button pierced. Found a great deal in my area and the shop was great. They made me feel at ease and relaxed. It only cost me $20.00 and he said that even when I do lose the extra weight it won't affect my piercing. That made me feel even better. All in all now I have to work at my goal of about 19 more lbs to go and getting my BB healed and I will be all set.

Number 1: Buy clothes NOT in an oversized store! I wear an XL top from Old Navy (and even that is getting baggy, LOL!) I still wear anywhere from a size 18 to 22 in pants, but some can be found in regular stores, and for that I am eternally grateful! Last year in June, I wore a size 2-3X in shirts, and a size 32 pant, and they were TIGHT! Just goes to show what a nearly 80 pound weight loss can do for one's figure!!
Number 2: Go on amusememt park rides, and FIT IN THE SEATS! We went to Minneapolis and Valleyfair this past July/Aug and I fit into everything, and sometimes had room ro spare!! :yay: ( I know this is a recurring theme, but I am just as excited about it!! )
When I was 27, and approximately 300 -310 pounds, my now hubby and I went away to Ontario (Toronto, Niagara Falls, etc.) Actually got engaged there. Just shows how wonderful a guy he is! Anyway, we went to Canada's Wonderland, which is like Six Flags (better than Valleyfair, LOL) and we had fun until I waited in line for an HOUR and a HALF to get on a roller coaster. Well, our turn came, and I gleefully sat down..... and found that I couldn't even sit sideways on the seat. My soon-to-be-hubby couldn't help by moving over either - the seats had a large piece of foam in between. I got off the ride in tears, humiliated. My soon-to-be-hubby tore a strip off the poor guy there for not putting a size restriction at the front gate. But like all smaller people, I guess they don't have a clue about these things until they happen... *repeatedly*, that is...
A thing I am still waiting to do is: Wear shorts and short skirts in public. I am small for my weight up top (except for my breasts, LOL) with a LARGE bottom and even larger thighs, and I have puckers and lumps on my legs. (sorry if TMI) So, I am hoping that on the other side of 200 there is less lumpiness and I am able to feel freer by baring more than my calves.
Thanks so much for this thread!!

Good for u Angie!! U Go Girl!!!
I just took my daughter to have her belly ring changed for the first time yesterday. He told her it was completely healed (took 2 months). She took really good care of it, cleaning it with the salt water solution three times/day. I also got her a new ring for her birthday. It looks so cute!
Enjoy yours.....I'm sure you will and CONGRATS :yay: on your weight loss thus far, you should be sooooo proud of yourself!!!!

Love the responses here!
While I wouldn't turn down an extreme makeover, I don't think that will happen.
More realistically, I think I'll go out and get a really nice brown leather jacket. I've always wanted one and I think brown would look nice with my brown hair.
And I'll probably get a little black dress. Never had one of those.

Go to Hawaii and go snorkeling...and be able to get down in the water to really see the fish (instead of the guide diving down and bringing them up to me.)

Have just read this thread thru from the beginning... phewww... and it has been a revelation to me, to realise just how far I have come..
So many things I could relate to from the past.. but you know what...I don't think that much will change when I do finally reach my goal..
A few years back.... while feeling particularly vulnerable... something came over me and I suddenly thought..... so what.... If they don't like the way I am..... thats their problem... I am me... and I will do what I want...
I wear shorts,
I wear a swimsuit, and swim regularly.... beach and pool...
I travel as much as my budget will allow... (spent a small inheritance travelling over the past few years).... and I happily ask for a seat belt extension when I fly...
I buy or make whatever clothes I want... not what seems right..
I suppose it will be more choice and less cost when I can buy clothes from the rack... but gonna be doing that long before I reach goal..
I also stopped dieting... and ate what I liked... amazingly I didn't gain more than a couple of pounds...
and I rediscovered ME....
Now why am I here... doing Atkins? Well I have pretty major health problems.. that certainly aren't being helped by my size... and I want to live a few more years..... and I want to see my youngest grandson grow up.... he is the most incredible child...and I am curious.... (not biased because he is mine.... I have raised 5 and have 5 other grandkids...but this one is exceptional)...
So..... on the day I reach goal.... maybe I will celebrate in some way.... but can't think of any one thing I want, that I won't have reached for long before that...
Am I weird?

That was very honest and candid of you...and I understand completely. for me, I'd say being able to wear shorts to the park in the heat of summer. People look at me in pants and just shake their heads but I WILL not wear them until i feel good in them.
That day will be an awesome day for you and your wife. God bless you as you practice getting there!!
Was that too suggestive?

No Pam that was not weird, that makes you special. It means you are comfortable and happy with who you are and that "they" don't influence you the way they do others (myself included). I envy you. That shows a strong love and strength of self.

Bikinis and tight clothes???? not for me I think.....
The bikini is out because I have so many surgical scars... wouldn't subject others to the sight of them... thin or fat they aren't pretty...
Tight clothes..... well maybe that will change as I approach my goal... and want to show off my new body :p .... but I have always preferred loose fitting clothes... just simply more comfortable......we will see...
Keep those dreams firmly in place..... its incredible how many dreams come true...

I want to run around town in just sheer clothing..even thinking about coming to work in it. I've always told my husband if I were thin he'd have to chase me around town to put clothes on me!

Well, this may be vain and silly, but we're not going to put each other down for dreaming, are we? I would like to go to my 40th college reunion, and be the same weight I was then, I even have a shirt in the closet that I wore back then, and have everybody marveling how I haven't changed, blah blah, blah. I'd like to be able to walk into any "regular" clothing store and know, without a doubt, that I could purchase an outfit there and have it fit well.
I'd love to be able to go clothes shopping with my little sister... and be able to trade clothes with her. (the middle little sister, anyway)
