Since the discussion has stirred the 'racial' emotions here in
this group I have decided to move it to Paleo Anthro, sorry to
all non-subscribers, but I don't want to get into arguments
about science who has to be politically sensitive about racial
perceptions. I will bring it back when Paul can read my past
post on nodality and work through his 'race' issues.

I would just like to say one last thing and maybe leave this
newsgroup.
Mr. Bob Keeter had this extreme enamored-style obsession which
started in my mailbox apparently from a few regular
low-key conversations 6-8 months ago. He misunderstood my
simply communicating with him to mean he had to go berzerk
or something. Since he was blocked out he has brought his
problem here. He was acting sorta stalkerish towards me
and apparently cannot deal with rejection. He was deluded
too, telling me what i thought and how i had to think for
myself and to stop adopting phil's philosophy. I told him
it was a crock and he needs a
psychiatrist. I don't want his problem. If someone needs proof
i could dig it up in private with a moderator. Phil probably
became the target because Mr.BK knew i enjoyed phil's posts
and i considered him my friend. Maybe they never got along
but after this rejection bk has been obsessive and i do
think its a problem. Killfiling is a decent way to try to
bring the group back into a reasonable focus, IMHO, if
someone is bent on harrassment to the extent which this is
being taken.
Ms. BK started ~using~ my postings to launch attacks at phil.
My concern here is that this needs to stop here and now.

Long story, but quite frankly, dont worry about it.
I had the absolutely unprincipled audacity to challenge
Philip's demeanor towards groups of people that happen not to
agree with him. I thought that his egotistical, self-centered
and autocratic behavior was an affront to science and a public
insult, by virtue of association, to all of us that appreciate
and enjoy scientific discussion. I kept pressing him on
exactly WHY he treated people so badly. FINALLY got my answer
and he got a new entry to his killfile! 8-)
I just dont believe that there is a place for bigotted,
self-serving elitism amongst educated, intelligent people
who should know better. From where I sit, I can only
consider the fact that Im included in his proudly announced
"kill file" to be a compliment to the perceived accuracy of
that "stand" in his mind.
Guess I wont get invited to any of his cocktail parties! Oh
well, saves me the time of not RSVP'ing! Makes life simpler
down in the gutter with all of the common rednecks, ruffians,
and for that matter anyone lacking an acceptable and
compliant PhD. ;-)
Take care my friend, or you may join me on this list of fame!

Bob is liken unto a dog that whenever you stop to take a

You are NOT my enemy. Even Philip, I would not classify as my
ENEMY but yes there is a long trail of jousting with him one
ONE fine, very consistent, point. I am ashamed that an
obviously intelligent, obviously well educated scientist
could act the way he does towards anyone, or any group that
he thinks could possibly disagree with him. Im ashamed
because I believe that those actions and words are an insult
his science.
When I say that Philip's elitist attitude and towering ego are
offensive to me, I am not stating some newfound "agenda" or
something, well, the archives will perhaps demonstrate
something there too for those who would bother to look and
more importantly those who would SEE.
There are many things that I have done that Im not proud of,
Im not infallible. When I stepped over the line with Philip, I
apologized. Publicly. When you and Anne and even Jim McGinn
got dragged into this little fire fight (again the archives
will demonstrate by who) I apologized publicly to each of you
for even being a party to it. Whether I deserve an opology or
not is at best debatable, but Im simply unwilling to debate
that point.
I am not YOUR enemy. Now, good luck and good ridance to this
entire subject. OK?

My story is much the same. I caught Philip out a couple of
times bullshitting in some maths and gently pointed it out in
my usual manner. He never forgave me.
He writes at such length and -- most of the time -- so
turgidly, that few people read him with any care. But if and
when you do, you're quite likely to find bullshit.
Although he can be quite good and informative at other times.

Or what, Bob is going to do the McGinnian Death Spiral. Seen
it heard it, gets boring. Everybody has their time here, they
come, they get all wound up, make a big battle against the
wind, bullets fly and then one day they look down in their
Ak-47 was actually an dime store air rifle, and the ammo was
decorative beads. And they slowly but surely go away. And the
conversation between the adults here continues, interrupted by
a new variety of loon. Crowley has accussed me of this and
that, but his fight has generally been with Lorenzo and others
and I but out. Paul Proposed that humans were domesticated by
dogs. Efram Goldstein came proclaiming the white genuises are
responsible for IQs of europeans and asians. He fizzled out.
Lets see, remember ole Elaine Morgan, whose response to every
questions was 'something must have happened . .. ' don't see
her anymore here. Mr McGinn 'science is too smart to come up
with anything beneficial' James Micheal Howard - its the
testosterone that made humans intelligent And on and on.

Hey, an astronomically lofty but supremely fragile ego is a
terrible thing to play with! 8-)
Seriously though, I think that he just gets caught up in the
flow of it and forgets that he has to stick with facts or
reasonably considered opinions. Loose that anchor and people
choose to debate, enter into the debate and the anchor really
slips. Next thing you know, "your words" that he hears stop
matching "your words" that you typed, and in spite of the
excellent archival services on such things. . . . .well,
better to try to move the mountain. .
. . . . Im just not up to it any more.
My real "beef" though has nothing to do with his facts. With
very few exceptions, perhaps the one supportable one being
the math behind the "facts" and conclusions, I simply do not
know enough to fault him on the genetics. More often than not
I cant crack the 132-bit encryption of technical jargon that
coats his train of thought, but hey, Im not a geneticist. My
"beef" is that his knowledge and education do not put him
above the basic rules of decency and mutual respect, and for
that matter the rule of civil law and constitutional
government, that the rest of our society seems to live under.
His perhaps tenuous conclusions are no worse, and in most
cases seem to be far better founded that a lot of the
flimflammery that gets postetd here as "god's truth", its
just that so few people who post here REALLY try to usurp the
role of god.
There is a saying that I learned a long time ago and its
stuck with me. "Never does a man stand so tall as when he
stoops to help a child." In this field there are a lot of us
on this newsgroup that are veritable "children" to the
science. We know just enough to be almost in awe of the
science and the scientists who understand it. When one of
these scientist slaps down any of those that would like
learn, for the crime of bruising his ego or questioning his
"facts", I take offense. Then, I fear, MY bad side does come
out; the fangs drip venom and the claws come unsheathed. (If
you are to believe all of the stories told!) 8-) I dont know
the details of your particular crime, or what other items
Philip might have taken issue with, but if you and I are in
the same boat the crimes must have been magnificent (at least
in his eyes)! So. . . glad to meet you as a fellow member of
the "Rogues Gallery"!
For now, lets just let the good Dr. hang on his own actions,
like the proverbial ostrich with his head in the sand and his
butt showing! 8-)
Geez, must have been going "hand-to-hand" too much and his
verbose pomposity must be contagious! 8-)

Give it up, Bob. This whole pissing contest between you and PD

I do, and I am not ashamed to do so either.
As per killfiling him, If I continue to 'slugfest' with him,
then I am guilty of, ultimately, hippocracy. As I told Bob in
the 'ideal' world we would not get into the off-topic stuff,
but Bob is dead set on continuing, So I do not think it is
childish to put the killfile in my sig, so that he knows that
I will not respond to it. If he agrees to stop his obsession
he can send me an email and I will remove his name and we can
go our separate ways here. But I don't see that happening any
time soon. I see it as a flag
1. To let people know why I will not respond to his 'antics'
2. To let people know there is a possible problem they might
want to ignore. Either me or him or both.
3. To verify the fact that I want a cleaner, less
'slugfest' newsgroup, and the way I intent to do this
is to auto-ignore all those who would want to turn into
a slugfest.
IOW, the sig killfile is the politest way I can end the
argument with him. I am very serious about people initiating
off-topic threads and material, some people here who think
they are my 'friends' may also find themselves in that
kill-list if they do not stop initiating off-topic material
and especially threads. We do not need five threads for
offtopic post that appear in other threads, re-need only one
response, and if that does not solve the problem, then
kill-file the problem and move on. Yes, I have initiated alot
of off-topic stuff, this is how I propose to end it, and I
want the off-topic threads to stop, period.
>-and is not, if his slugfest with MB is any guide,
>infallible. And you are guilty of flogging a dead horse.
Infallible because I did not read Horai, yes, I confess, when
Gisele pointed these papers out to me in march or so I was a
little 'red-faced'. In addition Micheal, I do not read every
paper every week, if you want my original post I made about
Harris and Hey I still have it and I can repost it. I
generally summarize a work, keep a 'concept' of that work in
my 'rusty nails' head and move on. I think that, basically
Takahata et al made all previous work obsolete, because it
goes from a single locus study to a combined perspective. As
far as Micheal is concerned, a Scientist here who aint
willing to disclose his full identity and makes hit and run
attacks (as in when one gets close to sealing off his point
of argument he runs away), how seriously should we take such
a person. M.B. has had a very MREH slant, a slant that has
lost its defensibility and he knows this, so he has retreated
to the position of defending some, if even slight,
contribution of Neandertals. I am not hit and run, I tell you
and him strait to your faces, I don't see that it is likely
at all that Neandertals contributed hereditary material to
the human population, you know my name, you know where I
work, and you know what I have said. 10 years I been here and
in 10 years we can repost this and see whose right and who is
still defending the position they make today. And all my
'calculations' are in my website which I post at the end of
each post with my killfile. The website was at the request of
people in this group.
Can we get back to discussing science (as in this is a
science newsgroup) and stop discussing personalities, I have
been here for 8 years, in that time have you known me to
change my 'stripes'. I speak my mind, crude, lewd and
socially inacceptable at times, apologies for that, but the
recipe to 'minimize' the 'irritated' phil syndrome is to work
with me on getting rid of all this off-topic discussion and
personality disputes.

You have to do more than that to get in my file EJ. I know you
want it . . . .BAAAD.
The thread which I started is on topic, Paul dragged it into
off-topic land, which is a reason he is in my killfile.

There! Its a little better now.
I was thinking one difference between folks who get into these
spinoff goofy arguments here in SAP is the the quality and
quantity not to mention character of the ~Baksheesh~ offered
as scale levelers. Some folks have the rich storehouses of
prized goods and services. I should go back to lowly humility
status pronto cuz i don't bring in the food. So sorry guys.
Back to the loom.
