Hello, I am new to this WOE and the lc'ing. I have started this about 3 weeks ago. I am experiencing alot of diarrhea. Is this normal? I feel great and I feel alot more energy and lighter. Also, what about eating beans? I love black bean soup. It is soooo high in fiber and it is really good for you. Any response would be nice. Thank you

Hi! Just wanted to say that I experienced diarhea the first 2 weeks of Atkins. Although he says that you are supposed to be constipated, it was the complete opposite for me. Once my body got used to the diet change, I seem to be more normal now. Although every now and then the lose ones come back. Your body is just getting used to this WOE. Beans, I dont think you are allowed to have beans, but dont know for sure. I think they are very high in Carbs.

hi there cinnamon,
Some people do experience the Big D during the early weeks of low-carbing. Especially if your previous diet was high in white flour, white bread, white rice, mashed potatoes, sweet juices. Switching to a diet with lots of salads and high-fiber vegetables can be a bit of a shock to the system :) It will pass. Also, some folks find it takes a while to adjust to the higher fat content.
Check out my article Low Carbing and Intestinal Health, which you can find if you click on "Low Carb Tips" from the orange menu bar near the top of the page. There are some suggestions for overcoming diarrhea (as well as constipation) and possible causes.
Hope the problem is short-lived :)
