Hello everyone.
I have only posted once but come here often and I am really feeling down tonight. I started induction two weeks ago tomorrow and on my weigh in day (Tues) of week one, the stupid scale said I had lost 11 pounds, I felt really good. Now, quickly approaching weigh in day for week two the scales says I have gained 2 pounds-now I feel awful. I will admit that I have a weighing obsession and everytime I don't see results I get depressed and mad at myself. I definately know that this takes time, so why am I so down on myself? Also I have a few questions... Is one type of scale better over the other (digital V. the other)? And how do you mix the oil/vinegar dressing? I am currently using 2 g carb dressing but feel like it might be a problem for me (using it exsessively) How important is breakfast? I am the mother of an 11 mo. old and often forget about breakfast or am grateful for the extra sleeping in time, should I make this a priority?
TIA

JC~
Don't fret about the scales showing an increase from day to day . . . you can gain a couple of pounds on the scale just from water . . . those pounds don't really count.
I find that my weight can vary as much as five pounds from day to day, especially if I am not drinking enough water to flush out my system.
Regarding breakfast: I am of two minds on that issue
1) I don't usually eat breakfast as I too would often rather get more sleep
2) If I am not eating enough, my weight loss slows (go figure!)
Also:
3) There is no law as to how long a day is . . . or what time it starts . . . you may still be eating "breakfast" it jus might not be until later in the day than some other people's breakfast.
4) there are no rules as to what constitutes "breakfast" . . . it might be a tuna salad . . . and an omlet might be dinner :spin:
Best wishes!

JC,
Eleven pounds in one week is amazing! The subsequent 2 pound gain is probably your body adjusting. I've read that our fat cells are really stubborn and don't want to give up their territory. So they suck in water to fill up their cells, so they don't have to give up their space. So keep doing what you're doing and drink tons of water and they will have to give in eventually!!!
Also, make sure you eat enough during the day if you're not eating breakfast. The general rule is 10 to 12 times your weight. You can log in your daily food at fitday.com and see how you're doing calorie wise. I know no one wants to calorie count...but just to see if you're hitting the right amount. And they will help you keep track of how many carbs, protein and fat grams you are consuming. It's a great tool.
As far as oil and vinegar dressing...I use 2/3 olive oil and 1/3 vinegar, then I chop up some garlic add some salt and pepper and maybe some basil or any of your favorite herbs. Shake and Voila. It's done. You can even add lemon. There's so many ways to make it. But there's no MSG...which I just read is in packaged dressings and can cause problems with weight loss.
Hope that helps. Victoria

Keep your chin up JC!
I went through the same thing during Induction...down six pounds, then up two...down three, up one....
I was making myself crazy :daze: and finally had to severly curtail my weighing in! I don't even have one in the house now. I use the scale at the gym every Monday (and ONLY on Monday)!
My weight loss have evened out since Induction, and I steadily lose about 2 lbs. a week.
As the others said, it's probably water. If you've just started working out, that could contribute, too. Since muscle weighs more than fat, if you're building muscle it can cause slight weight gains. (In the long run, though, the muscle will help you metabolize the fat.)
Good luck!
