hey everyone, I am getting soooo frustrated, I have been on the diet since monday I dont eat breakfast, I have a salad and some meat for lunch, and eat meat and cheese for supper, I have lost a couple of pounds, but every time I test my urine on those strips it comes out only a trace... what am I doing wrong???? any help would be greatly appreciated, oh I also drink tea during the day and maybe 1 or 2 diet soda's with no carbs in it..... thanks

Caffine is known to stall out weight loss. It could be stalling the ketostix as well.

If you are drinking lot's of water you are washing the high readings of ketosis out of your system which is a good thing! Don't put all your eggs in the ketostix basket and get frustrated that it isn't turning deep purple.

Start eating breakfast. I made this mistake as well. Since I started eating some breakfast I find I am losing weight more easily.

I would eat breakfast but I cant stand eggs, they make me sick just thinking about them... I dont know what else to eat... thanks for your input, I do drink lots of water... maybe that is it... thanks again.

You're not doing anything wrong. You're losing weight! Some people never go beyond 'trace' on the ketostix. Some people never turn them at all. Ketostix are also more likely to show darker readings later in the day than early in the morning, so timing is a factor also, as is the amount of water you drink. Don't go by the ketostix, they'll drive you nuts!

There are lots of things you can eat for breakfast besides eggs. Try running a search on 'breakfast,' I know there's been lots posted on the subject. Sliced meat, smoked fish, cheese, tofu if you like it, 1/2 cup cottage cheese and strawberries (count the carbs), last night's leftovers....check the recipie section for lots more ideas.

Make sure you're eating your veggies; you mention only a lunchtime salad. Have some veggies for dinner also.

How about a Atkin's shake for breakfast? Or maybe some cheese with slices of bacon or ham?

Eating breakfast doesn't mean you "Have" to have eggs. :)

Baked custard or sour cream banana bread?? Cheese and Ham??? Sometimes I have stir fry beef and green veg when I've got more time, not that it takes long if you can afford to buy the beef precut.

My ketostix are all over the place. Dont worry about it.

I have been there too! I have went from having uncontrollable cravings were food was the first and last thank on my mind...to not wanting to eat. I LOVE THAT FEELING! But when I slowed my eating down so did my weight lose. I add butter or oil to everything...and I basically kind a fry my green beans in bacon grease {great seasoning}. I also HATE to eat breakfast, before the diet it always consisted of something sweet, and well that hasn't change much. I eat a pure delight chocolate bar if I'm on the run, but mainly I eat chocolate mouse or sugar free strawberry jello with whip cream! DOES WONDERS! I did a complete turn around and lost 5 lbs! Remember fat is what makes you lose {according to atkins} it is what your body is using for energy. And they have found on a REALLY HIGH FAT DIET you loose more weight than a moderately fat diet.

Its worth a try! Do it for a couple of weeks and see what happens!
