HI all
I started low caarbing, and then stumbled upon this forum. Its sounds like CKD is perfect for me. The atkins diet won't give me enough energy i am afraid to perform high intensity weight training, so this may be my alternative. Is their a Body Opus book, or CKD book?
And DAN is your book (advertised on your site) a ckd approach? Does it outline a CKD program along with excercise? Thaks for your time.

There are a few books-
1)'Bodyopus' (by Dan Duchaine)
2)'The Ketogenic Diet' (by Lyle McDonald)
-I highly recommend you purchase both books.

I would also reccomend buying both books ...
My book (Metabolism) is NOT a CKD based book, but it does offer some neat tricks to use when you are sliding into a CKD ...
My next project IS going to be a CKD-handbook type deal, and I am getting started on it soon ... still settling in from "the move" (I moved house recently).

-His 'Bodyopus' pages were awesome. I wish there were more 'journals' out on the internet similar to his.

Yes, but Lyle openly admited that people should be able to learn more through his mistakes.
The problem I have is he never even reached his goal. Too much slacking....

-That's true. However, his 'Bodyopus' pages were very detailed and helped many people (including myself) get a better understanding of 'CKD''s. The man knows more about dieting than you or I put together, period (even though his physique may not show it).

Knowing is only half the battle. What good is knowing how to diet if you cant have the balls to execute it????

-It seems like you are a big fan of 'Bodyopus'. I take it you're following a 'CKD' (or some plan like it). I'd hate to break it to you but, Dan Duchaine (The AUTHOR of 'Bodyopus' as you know) was not big at all. As a matter of fact- he looked like your 'Average Joe'. However, he was (IMO) one of the brightest 'guru''s the bodybuilding community had ever seen. Just because someone isn't 'big' by your standards- (whether it be Lyle McDonald or anyone else for that matter) doesn't mean they don't know what they're talking about.
P.S.-Have you read Lyle's book by any chance?

I did not say that Lyle does not know what he is talking about. Clearly he did his share of reaserch. What I'm saying is he himself basically said " do as I say not as I do.'' I respect him for his knowledge. As I explained earlier, 26 weeks and never reached his goal. This proves he did not aply his own knowledge 100%.
I think if he put as much time into diet and training as he did his diary he would have reached his goal.
And yes I am a fan of ckd"s . Ive used them to get ripped for abouy 7 years now. Although I have never read Lyles book, I think I to have done my fare share of research.

-Fair enough. Using it for 7 years, eh? I'm surprised it hasn't lost its' effect by now, heh.

I have not been on a ckd for 7 years straight. 2 times per year for seven years is more like it. I build size and strength the rest of the year. as to get bigger and leaner every year. I will usualy weigh 205-210 during the bulk phase with about 12-14% bf at 5'8". Then I bring my bf down to 4-5% 2 times per year. It gets better with practice. ....

Hey BILL
what a coincidence! I too Got my books from Amazon yesterday!!I'm going to Toronto from montreal today, so I"ll have plenty of time to get through at least one of them! I'm not driving :)
Let me know what you think, and i'll do the same. I started skimming BOdy Opus last night, looks terrific... except for the part that states we have to be 15 % body fat for men, or 20 or less % body fat for women! I know I'm around the 20% , but what about all of htose who aren't?? Can anyone answer this one? Dan? Fern?
well have a great trip to the windy city, and read up ! :)

That's just DD being DD.
He made himself known as someone who pulled no punches in his writing. As you dig deeper into the book, you wil either love his style or hate it.
This diet will work for anyone around those numbers. Actually, it will work for anyone, providing they train with regularity and intensity.
And stay in control during the carb-ups ... LOL ...

I loved Duchaine's no 'B.S.' attitude. I especially love this excerpt from 'BODYOPUS' regarding the 'carb-up':
I always suggest that you push the limits of slackness. If you can get a perfect carb-up without waking up at night for extra meals, or eat any sweet thing that strikes your fancy, I am actually fucking envious. Your hour of of reckoning is Monday morning.

Hi Bill, how long did it take for the order to arrive? It's been over 6 weeks since I ordered the Ketogenic book, and wondering if they screwed up.
