Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA)
Is an essential fatty acid. You can read about it here (http://www.healthandage.com/html/res/com/ConsSupplements/AlphaLinolenicAcidALAcs.html)
Check first the mg dosage on the box for each tablet/capsule etc..
The adult recommendation is 2,200 mg per day.
Ther are many other natural ways to increase your essential fatty acids such as Omega 3. For example organic eggs, or oily fish.

Alpha Lipoic Acid(ALA)
Alpha lipoic acid is an enzyme found in the mitochondria – the energy producing structures found in our cells. As a dietary supplement, alpha-lipoic acid may act as a powerful antioxidant, where it may work in synergy with other nutritional antioxidants like vitamins C and E.
Prevents cellular damage (from free radicals)
Reduces oxidative stress
Lowers blood sugar
Increases energy levels
Dosage is 50- 100mg a day as a general anti-oxidant.
You can read more about this supplement at: Supplementwatch.com on ALA (http://www.supplementwatch.com/supatoz/supplement.asp?supplementId=15)

ALA is supposte to be great for those on keto. The guy who recommended to me told me he was taking about 1200 mg a day and has had great results. But he is not on a keto diet. I am pretty sure i have to take more then 50-100 mg a day. The capsules themselves contain 300 mg. I will search the web and hopefully can find some more information. Thanks!

I think you really only need it before meals with carbohydrate. I really only ever use it on my carb-up weekends...
