Started low-carbing about 5 weeks ago (Adkins, with no attempt to restrict fat). I was a bit afraid of the effects my high fat diet might have on chloresterol and tryglycerides because I have always had to struggle on a low fat diet to keep my readings in line. The best I ever did was 185, but my tryglycerides were still 330. The doctor told me it was hereditary and there was nothing I could do about it considering I was already eating a very low fat diet. Not what I wanted to hear since my Dad lost a leg, and was about to lose another, when he died from heart failure--all due to blocked arteries.

Just had my blood taken and my total chloresterol is now 138 and my tryglycerides are 130! HDL is 58, so I am now half of a half risk factor for heart disease, and I am losing weight.

My husband has heart disease and was afraid to go on this program but after seeing the results I have had, he is going to give it a try. Here's hoping!

hi Kim,

Great news indeed! And good for you for sticking with it, even when you weren't so sure at the beginning if the results would be worth it. It will be great when your hubby is lowcarbing too - I imagine meal planning will be a little "simpler" when you're both having the same thing..;)

take care,
Doreen

p.s. - tell D.H. we want him to post HIS own success story too... :D
