Hi all me again (fat away :D),

I just have one small question. What kind of salad or other dressings is everyone using for their salad? Maybe I haven't looked in enough places but haven't found anything on it. Any help would be gravely appreciated.

Thanks,
Fat Away:confused:

Check out our recipes web page from the menu aboave, and take a peek into the "Low-Carb Kitchen" forum.

Here a recipe by Bonnie for Cesar salad dressing:

I usually make my own vinaigrettes with olive oil, vinegar or lemon juice, dijon etc..... Most standard cookbooks should have good recipes, which you can make lowcarb by omitting or substituting for carby ingredients such as sugar, tomato paste, etc.

Some bottled salad dressings are good lowcarb bargains .. but choose the regular types, NOT light or lowfat .... these have sugar and starch added to make up for the absent oil! For example, Kraft Italian, Caesar and Ranch varieties are 1 carb or LESS for a Tbsp (15 ml). You can stretch them out by adding an extra Tbsp of olive or flax oil to each serving.

Good luck, Doreen

For an economical dressing (it's also my mom's old recipe), I mix mayo and sour cream half-and-half, sometimes with a bit of lemon, garlic, and herbs added. Quick, easy, and cheap (oh, and low-carb, too!).

I love cesear. Just be careful and read ingredients. It can range from 1g - 5g carbs. Try to get a dressing that has less then 2g carbs per serving, and sugar very low on list of ingredients. I also found a dressing from Annie's Naturals claled goddess (not green goddess) that has no sweetners or sugar period.

I also enjoy making my own. Many times just a table spoon of extra lite olive oil or other salad dressing was all I needed. I would put meat or eggs in with my salad though to give it taste.

i make a sweet and sour dressing by combining about 1/4 cup veg. oil, 2 T splenda, 2t parsley flakes(I've also used oregano and basil), 2 T red wine or cider vinegar, dash of black pepper and a dash of hot sauce. it's really yummy on a salad with mandarin orange slices and toasted almonds!
