I'm taking paxil to help me deal with fibromyalgia. For the most part it works, but when I take it I'm exhausted before the end of the day and can't hardly make it through dinner. Not a good way to raise children. I have to wonder, though, is it really the paxil or could it be something else. Any suggestions or helpful hints would be appreciated.

thanks, pepper

I was on Paxil for 3 years, and I kept getting more and more sleepy. It was really interfering with my life and the fibromyalgia (diagnosed in 1990) just seemed to get worse. Two years ago, I switched to Zoloft and began a walking program. I started of with 5 minutes a day and added 5 more minutes each week. After 4 months with no real change in eating pattern, I went from 275 lbs to 235 pounds. At first, the pain and fatique got worse and nearly killed me but I stuck it out and not only did the pain get better, the fibromyalgia went into remission!! I have been given a new life and I am ever so grateful. I'm not sure if it was the walking or if it was the Zoloft, or a combination of the two, but I did read somewhere on the net that Zoloft has been known to put fibromyalgia in remission. I hope this helps you, best wishes

Wow! Great weight loss! And you felt better too. How did you deal with the heat? It's very hot here in the mid-west right now, but my employer has made a walking path around the lake in front of the building that measures about half a mile. I see my doctor again in october to renew my Paxil. Perhaps it could be time for a change. Thanks for the insight!

I'm lucky, I live in the mountains (did you ever see the movie Roxanne that was filmed here?) Anyway, once the sun goes down, it cools right off, so that was my signal to start walking. Dusk is the best time.

I am on paxil as well, I have been on it 2+years. I don't have a problem with sleepiness. I do know that antidepressants slow the metabolissim and cause you to crave carbs. I believe that coupled with going off low cab eating has caused me to gain 41 pounds since moving to Germany. I am back to low carbing AND HOPE TO GET AND ENERGY BOOST SOON.Thats my main prob low energy coupled with endometrios make the second half of the month really hard for me.

it seems to have less side effects and also helps with other ailments of fibro. I have eye problems and stomach problems and it takes care of those also.

Hi,

I am new to this board, but had to comment on taking Paxil. I have been taking it for 3 years now and it has changed my life. I am not scared anymore and do so many other things. I also have CFS, so it's a bad mix. I am frequently tired and can nap at any time of the day anywhere. But I accept that I feel better and when I'm tired, I sleep. It's tough. Have you heard anything about the slow release paxil, "CR"?
