I've been a smoker for about .....24 or 25 years. Sad isn't it? I started regularly in nurses training where we all should have known better.
I quit once for six weeks, using the gum. I chewed like mad. Besides that, I've tried the little computer, cold turkey, candy, keeping notes. The only thing I haven't tried is a concerted effort, MINE!
We've been talking for years about becoming more homesteadish, self sufficient. But I need to go to the store for smokes and of course then you have to buy something else (or it'll look like you're an addict buying your fix). In order to be at home to do all the wonderful livestock and gardening things I want to do, I need to cut expenses. We talk about lowering the thermostat, cutting back on cable .... while I puff away almost $200.00 a month. YIKES! we could have a truck for that!
Yesterday I smoked about 35 cigs. Today 33 or slightly less. No grand leaps. Slow and steady wins the race.
Thank you all for being here.

It took me about 1,000 tries to quit smoking  . As long as you never give up trying to quit...one day it will happen  .
July will be two years for me with no stumbles at all :D .

Keep trying different things...one of them will be sure to work.

22 yesterday and it wasn't very hard. I had a couple I didn't need. There was no time where I purposely waited either. Today I'll do even better!

Hello Tooround!
I notice your from Ontario too!!! I don't think there are too many of us here...
I tried everything in my 22 years of smoking as well.... and I'm happy to say that it will be 9 weeks on Sunday that I've been nicotine free...this time I went cold turkey and I didn't find it hard, other times were so hard I'd go back to smoking hours later.
Keep trying and your get it...I think I was really ready for this, and I'm determined never to be a smoker again....

The best of luck to you
Louise
