Sorry I'm not in the GTA area, I'm in Kingston. BUT --- try yer local Loblaws Superstore. They're springing up all over the place (same as Real Canadian Superstore). There's a health food section, right next to the pharmacy ... and they carry all kind of protein shake mixes and some bars (just be sure to read the labels, not all are lowCARB). They also carry Bob's Red Mill vital wheat gluten, and soy flours (for baking), sugar-free nut and seed butters, organic dairy products, free-range eggs, and a wide selection of nutritional supplements, flax oil and seeds, psyllium etc... Also, check the yellow pages for local natural foods stores, where you will find more sugar-free whole foods.

Nutrition House is a Canadian chain of health food stores, found in malls everywhere. I checked their website (http://www.nutritionhouse.com/) and there's at least 10 locations in the GTA, and they even have a map-locator, so you can find them easily (look also for Nutrition Company, which is the same chain, but non-franchised). They carry a wide selection of Canadian and other brands of protein shake mixes, bars, flax, nutritional supplements, etc. And they have a "frequent buyer" reward plan too.

As for a good PCOS doctor, again, try the yellow page listings for Endocrinlogists in your area, and ask your family dr. or OB/Gyn (if you have one..... getting harder and harder to do in these days of cut-and-slash health care). Or you might try the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons website (http://www.cpso.on.ca/). Or, phone (416)967-2603 .... Toll Free: (800)268-7096. They maintain a listing of drs. taking new patients, and by specialty too.

Best of luck,

Doreen

Hi, I live in Eastern Toronto and have found Atkins products at my local health food store - Other health food stores may stock them too. Also GNC carries Atkins - I believe there are stores in the Eaton Centre and Eglinton Square.

Definitely check out GNC, Loblaws, and the Nutrional Houses.

I've been to one of the Nutrional Houses myself (the one in the Eaton Centre) and their prices are very very good.

I've bought iron supplements and the occasional Protein Revolution bars and have always been impressed with the prices.

You'd been surprised where you can find low-carb stuff, although it's not necessarily called low-carb.

I found sugar free vanilla syrup at the Timothy's chain of coffee places. $11.99 (no tax) for a bottle. And it's yummy!
