Whenever I try to put my personal email address in a post for a freind to send me an email ... the "at" (shift-2) sign always turns into a tilde (~) ... why is this ... I thought maybe using the button above would create the "at" sign ... but it still changes to a tilde... even when you click on the link created ... what am I doing wrong?

Nothing at all! It's a safety feature to prevent spam-bots from collecting email addresses.
